The present site occupied Midway Automotive at 411 Brockton Avenue in Abington has been in use as an auto dealership for some 40 years. Abington Subaru was at this location for over 30 years, closing its doors in 1996. The connection between Abington Subaru and present day Midway Automotive is not so obvious, though. The former general manager at the Subaru store was Phil Infiorati, a Vietnam veteran and experienced car business professional who hailed from Maine. In 1981, Phil hired a 17-year old lad from the neighborhood to work as a -lot boy. - The lad worked hard; he parked cars, swept the sales lot, went for coffee, and performed any and all manner of jobs that Phil could create. Neither had any idea how things would evolve over the years and, certainly, neither imagined how the roles would change. You see the young lad Phil hired as a -lot boy-was Abington`s own Mike Deveney, the owner principal of the present day Midway Automotive. One of first things Mike did was to bring Phil back to the new Midway Automotive as General Sale`s manager. Now, after thirteen years in business, Mike and his wife Lucy are reminiscent of the old- fashioned American success story. They worked very hard to develop and maintain an exemplary record of customer service at Midway.
