I take my car in for an oil change and when they are working on it they notice difficulty starting my car. They change the battery on warranty and send me on my way. The next day I am driving and my car shuts off while on SR-522 in a 60mph stretch in the left lane, blocking traffic. By this time, state patrol is on the scene and helps push my vehicle to the side. We jump start my vehicle with a DOT vehicle that arrives and it fails to run for more than a few minutes. Mind you, before it would jump start and run all day fine, meaning they made the problem even worse. I end up being stranded there miles away from Affordable Tire and Brake for over 3 hours. I am forced to pay to have my car towed to them. They inspect my car and call me later and say I need a new alternator and serpentine belt, the cost was $645 withoutT tax. The cost of the alternator alone was $455. I am forced to pay it because I have no other option at this point since my car doesn`t even run. After paying, I felt like they charged me more than they should have. I started calling the other Affordable Tire and Brake locations to get quotes on the SAME service. The price I was quoted at the Ballard location for the same service was $324 without tax. That`s half the price of the University District location. I then called the Rainier location and they quoted me $557 without tax. I informed Corey of the price I was quoted at only the Ballard location and he said he would call me back in 5 minutes. I can only assume he called the Ballard location to find out what was said. He called back and said that the reason I was charged double the price was because the Ballard Manager had quoted me for a 120 amp alternator, when they had installed a 90 amp alternator on my vehicle. Apparently according to him, the 90 amp alternator costs double the price of the 120 amp alternator, which is why it cost double. I searched online, the 90 amp alternator they installed on my vehicle is priced at $172.95. They charged me $282 more for the alternator than it costs. God knows what extra discount they get for being a mechanic shop. When I complained about the price to Corey he said, "Look we aren`t charging you much for labor just $140. The expense here is the $455 alternator and we can`t do anything about that, it`s the price it`s sold at." It seems like they charge a normal price for labor and then overcharge for parts to avoid suspicion because people are more likely to argue over labor costs than part costs. Oh yea, they also took out the brand new battery they installed couple days ago and re-installed the original battery I had from 2010, they failed to mention that when they returned me my car. I am no mechanic but the constant jump starting I have been doing can`t be good on a battery. I assume my battery would be in better condition if they had diagnosed the problem back in July. Just my two cents, take it for what it`s worth. I will never return to Affordable Tire and Brake. When I told me friends that go to Affordable Tire and Brake what happened, they told me of similar problems they experienced with them overcharging. We agreed to never return and will be giving our business to a shop that we can trust.

The Audi dealer quoted me $500 to fix my brakes. I knew I could get it done for less else where. Affordable Tire and Brake said they would use factory pads and do the job for $189. Seemed like a good deal so I made the appointment

OK so I am thinking $180 to figure out the problem a couple hunny to fix it (if I`m lucky) and I still have to pay for my brakes.

Sooooo the wipers wait I go in to fix the brakes at Affordable Tire... They had a lot of good reviews so I was kind of suprised to see the place was kind of a hole in the wall. Not dirty but old and kind of dumpy and not laid out well for an auto shop. Really small with no parking but the shop seemed to have good newish equipment.

I ask ""hey, can you take a look at my wipers?"" The dude says ok but there will be a fee of $80 to check them out. Its better than $180 so go ahead.

3 hrs later I get the call your cars done. I said ""what was the problem with the wipers oh"" I don`t know"" he says so I`m thinking ok they forgot to check my wipers. So the guy comes back and says ""Just a loose clamp on the arm thing"" So how much ""oh no charge for that"".

So I go to pick up my car and they didn`t even charge the inspection fee! Just fixed my brakes for $189. no charge for the wiper repair or inspection.

Hey, I don`t need a new loaner car for $500. Thanks Guys. You will get all my business and anyone who will listen. You rock!!

I came to Affordable Tire & Brake after getting a recommendation from a friend. My first experience was good, they were very friendly and it was an enjoyable experience. The rates were decent, but the wait was long. My second experience was the complete opposite. I came back to get a part replaced (same as the first visit), but they doubled my price and gave me a lot of attitude. The attitude came from one person who may have had a bad day, but the attitude & doubling the price for the exact same repair convinced me to never come back.

I had taken my car to 3 other shops in the area and spent over $600 because my car was making a horrible noise sounded like my car was going to fall apart in the street. My boyfriend suggested I take my car here. Noise was as bad as ever. I stopped in twice and they couldn`t get me in so I finally made an appointment.
When I dropped the car off they asked me to go on a test drive with them to hear the noise. None ... view moreof the other shops took the time to drive the car with me to hear the noise.(maybe thats why they couldn`t fix it). After we drove it I left it with them.

The guy called me about 3 hrs later and I cringed to hear the price. The problem was a loose bolt they tightened it and the noise was gone. The price $0. What ZERO? The guy said he couldn`t charge for tightening a bolt.

After being promised 3 times it was fixed I really didn`t believe them. Sure enough no noise anymore.

They didn`t even charge for the inspection! Now I can see why they are so busy. They could have told me that some $500 whosie hatsit was bad and I would have been none the wiser. Is that what the other shops did?

I needed new tires for my car. I shopped around and found a couple places that had my tires for what seemed like a good price. I went here beacause they were close to my house and had a good price. The service was great the car was done right on time. While they were working on it they asked me to come out and take a look at something. They pointed out a couple of repairs that needed to be done. What I really liked i... view mores they showed me where my oil was leaking and why my tires needed to be aligned. No aggressive pushing to fix it just showed me the problem. I didn`t have time to fix it right away but they gave me a price and I went home and shopped around to see if the price was reasonable. The price they gave me was by far the best I found. I made an appointment to get the work done and again dropped the car off at the appointed time and it was done by the time they said it would be. I am happy to say this this is a good shop and a place that I can highly recommend

here is the story. I had an appointment at noon. I arrived there 10 mins earlier and saw a BMW being fixed. A manager, Brandon, told me that my car would be the next one after the BMW, which would be done in 10 mins. I waited for 40 mins and saw a wagon getting fixed after BMW, so i asked why it wasn`t mine. The manager said this car would be done real quick probably 10 mins, so I was ok. It was labeled here on the wall and I couldn`t do it at $80. It`s up to you if you wanna leave. At that point, I had been waiting for almost an hour so I thought it`s just $10, I shouldn`t give up. I had been waiting until 1.30PM and pretty sure that mine would not get fixed in the next hour since a mechanic fixing the wagon told me that he was on just a half way. I asked the manager again that what time you would let mine in. The answer was I could grab your key real quick and you could go!! Question, what is the point of making an appointment? Whatever it is, I wrote this just because I wanna let you know that this place provides an undoubtedly BAD SERVICE, so DON`T GO THERE.

This place is way more trouble than it`s worth! I had a appointment at 11 am and was told it would be ready in a hour. I waited around for 4 hours! Each time i checked in they assured me that my car was the next in line, but they lied! The last time i checked in with them and finally got mad, they put the car right up and changed the oil, but of course they skipped rotating the tires as i had requested! About a week ago I was getting the oil changed on my car I have a 10 year old Honda and though I try to take good care of it, its needing more and more attention these days. The Manager of the oil change place said I needed brakes. I asked how much and he says $300. That seemed a little high to me and I wasn`t really impressed with the place so I didn`t let them fix it.

I asked my brother about it and he said ... view more to take it ito Affordable Tire and Brake. They check it out and they also agreed that I needed brakes. They showed me how my pads were worn down and what it should look like if its not worn and they were definately worn out.

Then the best part they said they could fix them for $130. Sounded good to me. I had them fix them and they work great, car was done that afternoon like they said it would be and everyone there was nice and attentive and best of all the car works great.

I have been going to Affordable Tire for a few years now. I am always pleased with the work and satisfied with the price. The times I have checked around they are cheaper than other shops. I don`t usually take the time to rate places but these guys really deserve a pat on the back. People looking for a good shop need to go here.

I have been to the Affordable Tire and Brake on 4-5 times for different services but this time I had to let people know what a great place this is. I have always had good service and been pleased with the price. I went in with a flat tire- completely flat I was on my way to work. They got my car right in because I told them I was on the way to work. After a couple of minutes the manager guy showed me the tire was al... view morel torn up because I drove on it while it was flat. So now I need a new tire of course its some odd size that they don`t carry in stock (04 Mini Cooper). I am panicking and the manager guy offers me a loaner tire so I can get to work without having to drive the day on my little donut spare. They put it on and I am out of there in 26 mins flat. They have the new tire by that afternoon and I get it put on after work at 5:30 on my way home. Fast service, good prices and nice guys. Thanks so much!
