I just took my car in 2 days ago because it had been overheating. They were extremely friendly when I walked in! I told them what was going on with the car and they told me the tests they would run on it & after that was finished they`d call me and tell me what was wrong & if my warranty would cover it. However.. They didn`t call me to tell me what was going on. I had to call 2-3 times. The first time I call... view moreed I asked what was wrong they told me, said they were trying to get a hold of my warranty company... Next day I call again because they still haven`t called back confirming if they were going to work on it or not. Called and he told me my warranty wouldn?ˆ™t cover it and went on to tell me it was The Serpentine Belt & Idler Pull that was broken . So I asked him how much he said about $600. I was freaking out! I then called my warranty company just to see if they was blowing smoke up my rear end and sure enough the company didn?ˆ™t cover it, HOWEVER they did tell me that they had a denied claim for an amount of only $340! I was ticked that he had tried to charge me $600 for something he claimed for only $340. At this point I was very angry. I then went to pick up my car and they showed me & my boyfriend a diagram of what was broke and where it was. I didn?ˆ™t feel like he was being extremely rude but compared to the first visit you could tell an attitude. We then took the car and had it looked at by another mechanic. The Idler pull & Serpentine belt was NOT broken. All it was was 2 little elbows underneath the Idler pull that was leaking coolant. The elbows at O?ˆ™reilly?ˆ™s are 3.99 each. I will NEVER go back to La Car Porte. I saved about $590 by having a second opinion.

I was recently visiting La Porte from out of town when my truck broke down; I had it towed to this shop as I didn`t know any local repair shops. Turns out I needed a radiator, belt and tensioners. I felt the price to be a bit high, but as I was stranded I also felt I had no recourse. The vehicle was completed the same day, but something told me it was not fixed properly. So I drove it around town for a while before p... view morearking it. Sure enough, within five minits I saw fluid leaking from under the radiator! Took it back and was told they had had problems with the fitting at the line from my transmission to the radiator. Obviously they had not ascertained the fitting was tight before releasing the vehicle as repaired. I was lucky to have listened to that voice, otherwise I might well have been stranded beside the road on my 70+ mile journey home! Did I mention that I am a ""mature"" widow traveling alone? So needless to say that would have been a bit scary--not to mention potentially dangerous! And as I`m far from Independently Wealthy---an expense I well could not afford! Still not feeling comfortable, I had a friend look at my truck----and the battery was not even properly secured! It was loose in its holder and ""wallowing around"". Another less than comfortable feeling! This shop may well have been in business for numerous years---but I would highly suggest it retrain its personnel in the field of ""car repairs"". June 10, 2011 Just an update: day before yesterday, my truck was towed to a local shop with a BLOWN HEAD GASKET!! Obviously there was not adequate follow up checking done on my engine when it overheated and I had it towed to La Car Porte. I feel if proper pressure testing, etc had been performed while the truck was in La Car Porte, the fact that the heads and/or gasket had been affected should have been discovered. THEN the head gasket should have been replaced, thus avoiding possible further damage. So again I reiterate: I would not trust this shop! They may be good for oil changes and the like...but they are NOT qualified for anything else!

I HAVE FOUND IN MY VISITING THIS PLASE THAT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS GREAT. I HAVE THEM DO ALL OF THE SERVICING OF MY FAMILIES CARS, AND I TELL ALL MY CO WORKERS TO GO THERE. I HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD EXPIERIANCE WITH LA CAR PORTE. WE HAVE 4 CARS AND THEY WORK ON ALL OF THEM. THEY ARE GREAT. GO IN AND HAVE A SIT DOWN WITH THE GUYS AT LA CAR PORTE AND THEY WILL EASE YOUR MIND.

First of all I didnt do my research before I went here. This place is NOT BBB accredited. It seems as if the honest reviews are really bad and the dishonest reviews are to good to be true. The owner is probably writing his own reviews, and I say this for a couple reasons 1-some of the reviews I have found are from user Richards..(the owners name is Richard), 2- after what I experienced I just find the good reviews un... view morebelievable. I looked into the matters furhter and a lot of people are being ripped off. When I took my car in and asked exactly how much it would be to fix it. They said all that was wrong was one thing that was 400 to fix it. Then I got a phone call later that day telling me that they found other problems and the total was going to be more than 400. In the end it ended up costing me 959.12. I was furious because I knew exactly what was wrong with my car, so I took it back to the dealership I bought it from in 2008, and they said ""It looks like whoever was working on it last didnt know what they were doing and broke parts while trying to fix the main problem."" I called La Car Porte and spoke with the Owner Richard to confront him about the issue and he said quote "" well thats to bad Im sorry, your fired as our customer, so don`t bring your vehicle back here again."" SO BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!

I don`t feel like I am being ripped off when I go here. I have 2 vehicles, and older pick up and a new car. They service both. When I bring a car to them they check it out, make an estimate and then explain it all to me. They have never tried to scare me into a repair like some places will do.
The work has always been excellent and done on time. The price is not the cheapest, but I don`t want cheap, I want right!... view more They are fair.

We have taken our vehicles to La Car Porte for many years and won`t take them anywhere else. They are the most honest people we know in the industry. They are very reasonable with the rates, never repair the vehicle until an estimate is accepted by us, and the work is done right the first time. Never have to take it back.
