Imports Plus to the rescue!
After a long trip out of town from Greenville my husband and I were traveling home on a hot Sunday afternoon. We heard a loud pop and then the A/C went out. We pulled off on the side of the highway. To make a long story short the belt that runs everything broke! We had to have it towed somewhere close to home. I knew exactly where! Imports Plus!! The tow driver took us 37 miles to Irmo, we filled out the Early Bird ... view moredrop off and I knew they would take care of my Saturn Vue as soon as they came in Monday morning. I also knew that owners Ben & Susan Kirby would do honest and reliable work. I also knew that I would be called and updated before they started work so I would know what I was getting into. They stand behind their work and have a good work ethic. I recommend then for all your car needs!

I live in Wilmington, NC but my 19 year old son is a student in Columbia, SC and drives a 2002 VW Jetta. if you have any experience with VWs, you know this is a problem already, but that`s what he has so........
I paid to have the transmission in this car replaced at a Columbia Aamco location, and had many problems with these people who ""fixed it"", yet whenever my son drove the car off their lot, it would ... view morejust shut down on him. One of the times this happened was on a very busy street with lots of traffic and he was almost hit. Aamco told me they didn`t know what was wrong with it and I needed to have it diagnosed elsewhere. i chose not to use the local VW dealer since Aamco had me purchase parts there (including some hoses that needed to be replaced) and I was afraid this whole repair was turning into a racket to just suck more money out of a long distance mom with a credit card! It was particularly upsetting as we had planned to have my son come to Wilmington (a 4-hr drive including long stretches on I-20 & I-95) for a surprise for his grandfather`s 83rd birthday.
Through an online search I found Imports Only, who told me they did not work on VWs, but suggested I call Imports Plus as they did good work and were honest.
From the first minute I was on the call with Susan, I knew I had found the right place. She put me at ease immediately, being a mom herself, and told me her husband knew VWs better than he knew her! She stayed in touch with me constantly during the process and they spent hours going over the car with a fine-tooth comb. The problem ended up being a hose that evidently had come loose or had not been attached correctly, and Susan and her husband assured me they would have their own child drive the car that distance. She gave me her cell number in case of any problems. There were none, and my son told me the car drove like it was brand new and told me after meeting the folks there he felt very secure and that they were SO nice. To top it all off, Susan called me after the weekend just to make sure everything went OK !!!!!!!!
Their price was MORE than reasonable, and I feel truly blessed to have found them, as they are honest, caring people. Being so far away from kids driving used cars is tough (I have a dughter there too with a Nissan), but having found these kind people who do great work @ Imports Plus, has put me at ease in the knowledge they are there if my kids need them.

Outstanding work on my 12 year old Volvo
When I moved here from Charleston 3 years ago, I had a terrible AC problem that the Volvo dealership in Charleston had never been able to fix, althought I had paid thousands. I have heat intolerance and I cannot be driving around in a car with no AC. The Volvo dealership always tried to get me to just get a new Volvo and I so love having no payments, that was not going to happen. Well, Imports Plus is close to my ... view morehouse in Irmo, so I drove in there and met David (owner) for the first time and described how it would act up but I could not duplicate the problem when it was in the shop. He advised me that the next time it acted up, drive it straight to his shop and don`t turn off the engine, and let him come out to the parking lot and look at it. I did. He did, and he NAILED the problem right on the money, fixed the AC for a reasonable rate, and I have been driving in air conditioned comfort ever since. This old Volvo needs to last as long as possible and I am 200% confident that it is in the hands of the most highly skilled people I could ever find to make that happen.
Several things I really appreciate about these folks. Although I am a female that`s fair, fat, and over 50, they have never once tried to take advantage of what I may not know about cars. (My husband confirms this as they call him with the estimate before they do the work.) They look for ways to save me money, in that, if the repair can be put off, they will advise me. If it really needs to be fixed, they will tell me, and I trust them entirely. They have never treated me like I drove into town on the back of a watermellon truck just because I am a woman. And, they`ve never blown me off when I described a problem.
Just today, my car`s steering column locked up and the key would not move. We first tried for me to jerk the steering wheel real hard to unlock it, but I called Dave and when we described what all I had done, he said he needed to fix the key part that goes into the ignition. Even the tow guy said he`d nailed that diagnosis right on the head over the phone. So, as often happens, I could not have had car trouble on a worse day. When the tow truck brought ME and the car to Imports Plus, I told David that not only did I need a ride home (I live about 4 miles away), but I desperately need to run right up the street to the vet`s to get medication for my sick dog. Their driver took me to the vet`s before he took me home, and now ""Miss Honey"" the golden retriever is having a better day due to David and his crew.
I get first class treatment every time I go. They have never dropped the ball. There is a chance I may have to move back to Charleston....BUMMER!! I will strive to bring my car up here to Imports Plus to keep it in stellar condition, as my daughter lives here.
Columbia is blessed with some good doctors and blessed with a great place to get my car fixed. I put Import Plus right up there on the same pedistol with a cancer doctor that saved my mother`s life.
