I`ve been car searching for a SUV to move to the mountains. I came in spoke with Jim test drove a 2005 Hyundai Sante Fe. I test drove it on friday told him it was pulling. I would think about it over the weekend as I wanted to look more. He called me on Saturday said the right two tires were underpressure 12lbs. I came back on monday to drive it a mechanic to have it looked at. The mechanic put the car on the lift an... view mored inspected it front of me. He found corrosion on the entire carriage, rust breaking off from inside the bumper, the alternator had both plugs unplugged and a huge leak from the AWD, it was a stream of oil from front to back. He told me not to run anything (heat radio) and said I might make it back to the dealer. I did not, The mechanic had to come and jump me. I got back to the dealership handed Jim the keys, he said "well?" I said "no thank you." He wanted to know what was wrong I told him it cost me $25 to have it looked at and for $25 dollars I would tell him. He said he wanted to just wanted to know to fix it. In my opinion he should have known before he tried to sell it to me. I would have bought it as is, and been left holding a huge repair bill.He claimed to have great mechanic that knew everything about cars and told me that car would pass NC vehicle inspection no problem. The first day I went to the dealership he was out charging batteries, I now know why. He also said he only sells about 25 cars a month and most cars stay on the lot 140days. I now know why. No repeat business and hopefully others will take the car to the mechanic. If your going to sell something for that amount of money please know that it`s leaking and won`t start twice. He lost a sell that day, if it had checked out I would have paid him when I got back the entire amount of the car. It paid to check and not take his word.
