Tires, ok. Anything else, walk away.

I`ve gotten a few tires replaced and had a few flats patched up here, all with decent prices and courteous customer service. But don`t kid yourself into thinking they are any good under the hood. We recently had a pickup that wouldn`t start on a cold winter morning and because we only live a few blocks away my wife called them up to see if they could take a look at it. They assured us they were a ""full servic... view moree mechanic."" After replacing the ignition box and distributor and several hours of labor later, we took the truck home only to have it die on us again. Upset, we took it back there again as they clearly misdiagnosed the problem. Their new diagnosis: the carburetor. But they don`t work on carburetors. What? I thought you were a full service mechanic? We ended up towing it to another shop (Ben`s Japanese Auto on Sandy). His diagnosis: yes, the carburetor was broken, but the Tire Factory had also put in a bad distributor. There was also some electrical problems they failed to see. Overall, we didn`t need the ignition box to begin with. $600 down the tube. Luckily, they were nice about returning the portion of the cost pertaining to the un-needed part and very apologetic about the misdiagnosis. Moral of the story: KEEP YOUR ""BROKEN"" PARTS, AS YOU ARE ENTITLED TO THEM.
