Gary and Doug Stone are CROOKS!!!
On 1-14-12 my wife and I walked in to look at a 1999 Honda Accord LX 4cyln 5 speed manual transmission with 97,620 miles for $6195 that we found on Craigslist. First of all I`m trained mechanic not the average village idiot walking in to look at a car. I brought with me a hydrualic jack, jack stands, voltmeter and cordless light that I use to inspect every car BEFORE I BUY IT. Gary Stone brought me a key for the car ... view moreand said it was a 1 owner and had a timing belt done at 74,000 miles. He also informed me the car had a prior accident on rear right quarter panel and bumper. I started my visual inspection of the car. My findings were the paint on the front bumper was terribbly cracked and chipping away. An electrical problem with the electric door locks not working all the time. Both vanity mirror lights and the passenger reading lights did not work. Low on antifreeze from a pinhole leak in the radiatior. One quart low on engine oil from either a camshaft seal or crankshaft seal leaking (this requires a another timing belt job to replace the leaky seal). NADA value for the car was $6,025 with a clean history, which this car did not have. They priced this car $175 over NADA value. I wanted to test drive the car and Doug Stone said he had to ride with us. REALLY!?!? These guys think they sell brand new cars, it`s a 13 year old car and I drove onto their car lot with a 2007. I made a resonable offer of $5,500 at the car with me fixing what was wrong with it. Gary scoffed and replied ""nah I`ll just keep the car"". The lowest I`ll go is $5,900! For a normal person to pay a shop to fix what was wrong with the car would be at least $1200. Gary and Doug Stone were trying to rip us off! No Thank You, we left and took our business elsewhere. Tax refund season is just around the corner and some unknowing individual will pay way more than what that car is worth! Before you buy any car from anywhere get a trusted mechanic to inspect it. I feel sorry for the other reviewer who bought the Volvo. Stay away for Gary and Doug Stone at their nice looking USED car lot Stone Cars!

My Recent Experience
I recently bought a BMW 325i from the Stone brothers. They were courteous, knowledgable, and efficient. The transaction was completely satisfactory. The car is excellent-they know how to pick them.
Doug referred me to ZMech in Raleigh. Everything you want in a mechanic. I`m now a satisfied customer of Doug and Gary Stone and Zoltan of ZMech.

Highly recommend this very fair and trustworthy dealership
In August of 2007, we bought our second car from the Stone brothers. This time a 1999 BMW 528i with 78K miles. It took some extra time to finish the purchase because there was an odd sound coming from somewhere under the hood. As Doug Stone put it, they prefer that there be NO known prblems at all when a car leaves their lot. It took two mechanics, but they stuck with it and the problem was fixed.

I couldn... view more`t be happier with the service I have received from Stone Cars. They have, once again, been upfront, honest and very fair with their price.

As my children need cars, I know who will sell them to us...

Awful experience. Don`t buy your car here.
I purchased a used Volvo on 12-10-2005. Twenty One miles (25 mintues later) after driving off the lot. The engine shut off while I was driving down the road and will require heft repairs. Luckily I had just exited off I-40. Doug Stone told me there was nothing he could do to help. The dealership should have some accountability here and I am still working on that part. I will make sure that not a single one of my cont... view moreacts in the area EVER buy a car here. Don`t waste your time. Go somewhere else.
