Watch out

I took my car in to get a fuel pump replaced and it was completed. Weeks later I saw puddles under my vehicle (it`s a second car and only drive it 1-2/week). I saw a drip coming out from the rear and it was gas. This is the line connecting to the gas tank. I took it in and after an hour I was told that the line would have to be replaced and they would have to drop the gas tank for it. I was quoted 2.5 hours for the... view more work and more than I paid to get the fuel pump replaced (they also had to drop the tank for that work + the price of the pump). I asked the person (Ed) if they had to take that line off for the original work and he said yes, so I said it is possible that they have damaged it and he said no the lines were old. I then asked him as a service would have made sense to bring that up while the work was being done so I could have had the option to get it changed (cost of part less than $10). He said that you could not tell that it was old. Although I agree that the hose was old it is hard for me to understand how you can`t tell a hose is old as it shows sign of cracking on the outside. To me they are either incompetent and did not see that or they saw it and figured that I would bring it back for repairs. I took my car elsewhere but I have to say I have never seen such negligence!!! This is a fuel line and very dangerous, I just can not understand how they would have missed it! I am irate and will never go back to them!
