Worst Dealership I`ve Ever Dealt With
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They are the most dishonest dealership/autobody I`ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with.

They used to be Brookline VW & Audi in the not so distant past. However, they`ve apparently in the last year or so severed their ties with VW--or vice versa.

Did they tell me this on the phone when I-repeat customer-called to get some service done on my VW? Of course not. They told me t... view moreo come in right away when they realized the service I was looking for was a little more $ than replacing window wipers.

I`ve had work done here before, but had been mostly avoiding them for years despite the fact they`re literally a 4 minute drive from my place. I would go out to Bernardi in Natick (when they had a VW dealership) or Quirk in Quincy b/c of how TERRIBLE their reputation is.

They gave me a quote, said it probably would be nowhere near that expensive--& then charged me the highest possibility, after calling me to tack on an additional repair that they ""couldn`t let me leave without."" But this is the sort of thing we`re all used to from dealerships. It becomes a little more tricky b/c they were letting me to operate under the idea that they were affiliated with VW, however. The repairs ended up being $1400. I paid, the end. Right?

Nope. A couple days later I realized my front VW insignia was damaged. The car, in the meantime, had not been hit in any way, and had been in a controlled parking space with the front facing towards a wall, not traffic, during those 2 days. It wasn`t broken before I went into the autobody shop--where significant work under the hood, right where the cracked plastic was.

I call them to tell them they must have smacked it and broken it during repairs. When service rep David Davidian realized why I was calling, he never called back after several messages (5-6) over 2 weeks--and I don`t think he ever would`ve called back if I didn`t happen to catch him picking up late one day. When he realized who I was his voice changed like a kid being caught doing something wrong. He told me to bring it in the following Monday morning. His lack of getting back to me for 2 weeks was just one problem.

Then, I bring it in, I can tell they`re adopting the strategy of getting rid of me--the manager looks at it for about 2 minutes, and calls me over. He says I must`ve been hit. I said I wasn`t hit--I hadn`t noticed the damage for 2 days because me car was parked in a place where nothing could`ve hit it for a day and a half. He then changed his tactics--if it had been broken it would`ve fallen out onto the road--I told him I discovered the damage after a 40 minute drive during which I hadn`t hit or been hit--it didn`t fall out then. He said ""you can`t prove it, I`m not paying for this."" I told him I`d take it up with VW--he shrugged & walked away. Of course, I found out later that day it`s because the dealership no longer has a relationship with VW, something they had no interest in saying to me (a repeat customer who`d been there when they had the affiliation) when they thought they could squeeze some loot out of me.

He was really rude, like this was some elaborate plan to pay this crook $1400 to try to recoup $150 in invented damage. What a clever plan I hatched, now you`re only $1250 ahead! I`m clearly not being cheap--I just paid a load of money, another hundred bucks isn`t going to kill me--but now that they actually owed ME something, they couldn`t get rid of me fast enough.

If I can stop these lying criminals from getting even one person`s business--lose out on just a little bit more money--I feel better for that person and for sticking it to these guys just a little.

Buy and service your car someplace else. Or, if you don`t want to listen--once you actually do have a bad experience with them (and you will) call Audi and lay into them--obviously the VW route isn`t going to work anymore. At least mayb

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
Customer Service: bad attitude,
Friendliness: did not greet by anyone when walked inside the dealer,
Price: dishonest on listing price and non-negotiable.

I recommend try another Audi dealer if you have your mind set on an Audi. Great car to drive but deserve better than what I experienced.

Good deal on new GTI and fine service dept.
My experience at Brookline VW Audi has been very satisfying from the outset. I bought a new GTI Mk V a couple of years ago, and got a good deal ($300 over invoice) with a minimum of negotiation hassle. Sales people were helpful and found the exact color and options I wanted in a couple of days. I have gone back for scheduled maintenance ever since and have been treated well. Last week I went in for an oil change, ... view moreetc and they ran a full computer diagnostic (related to a ""recall"" to be sure some computer settings were correct). The service manager and a computer tech spent as much time as I needed to have them explain things to me. (I did not understand the daytime running lights vs. the headlights/fog lights vs the ""warning flash"" high beams.) They let me come ""in the back"" in the service area so I could see exactly what was going on. They were very courteous and professional. I will go back for future service.

As to German cars, note it is not that simple to do ""ordinary"" tasks like change the oil and filter on these high tech engineered cars. I have always changed my own oil and filters (on Hondas), but I researched the GTI maintenance procedures on the internet and it is almost impossible to do for the home mechanic-special tools needed and no ""spin on"" filter. A bit more costly maintenance comes with the territory if you go with German engineering-don`t blame the dealer!

AVOID at all COSTS!
Have owned the car for a year + and have brought it to Brookline Volkswagon AUDI for each milestone service to date. THEY ARE A RIP-OFF! Standard oil change is $90-100! For a bleepin OIL CHANGE! They charge for every ounce of ANY fluid they put in your car!
When I purchased the car, I realized a couple months later that I didn`t have the `entire` manual for the vehicle. I went to the Parts Dept, explained the situ... view moreation, and they said they`d order the missing sections. 5 WEEKS LATER...I called and they said unless I paid for the manual UPFRONT, they could not order it! I contacted the General Manager of Sales and he personally order the manual for me at NO COST!
Finally, just today, I needed the right rear tail light for my car. I ordered it 3 weeks ago when I had my last RIP-OFF OIL CHANGE! No one ever called to tell me the part was in...I called, made the appointment for installation today, dropped the car off and said I`d be back early to mid afternoon to pick it up (they actually asked if I wanted to wait - said it would only be an hour or so)...this is key because I just called to confirm the car was ready and they told me THEY USED THE PART ON ANOTHER CAR and had ORDERED me another one. My car is now suppose to be ready at 5! And, they would not quote me the final cost, as requested. BUY AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don`t go there for service
No, sir. You don`t want to go there unless you still have the factory warranty (I wouldn`t even if I had a warranty). They are going to squeeze out your pocket all they possibly can for nothing. I have not one, but two episodes. First one was about replacing a remote key battery that I won`t go in detail due to the review size limit here. You can check my yelp posting (yelp dot com). Here`s my worst night... view moremare:

I recently had a repair job on my passat (my daughter`s accident) at A-Z auto (highly recommended in many review places). 4-5 months after the repair, my wife found that the heater was suddenly not working. She bluntly took it to Brookline VW (a habit from warrantied days). They say we needed to replace thermostat, waterpump, and timing belt, without any explanation. It was only after I did some search and asked them a specific question that they admitted the latter two is a maintenance job (100K maintenance by book, usually done at 80~90K miles, my car closing in on 80K). OK, go ahead. And they said, after taking apart the engine, something was wrong inside, blaming previous repair. Without going into much ado about the hassle (they estimated $2400 for the repair. beeping $2400!!!), I paid $400 for the labor up to that point (jerks!) and had the taken-apart car moved to A-Z auto. Only time will tell who was right, but the A-Z guys are saying there`s nothing wrong with the engine. These guys are saying that I couldn`t have driven the car or at least check engine light should have been on, had there really been the problem they were saying. Here`s the killer. It turned out even the thermostat was OK. The heater problem was due to clogged heater core. For something a simple, high pressure flush could fix (A-Z did this part for free), we spent over $1000, with the car being held offroad for a month (still in the shop). I am looking for a way to either recoup my loss or at least file a complaint somewhere somehow.

will rip you off
i`ve been living in boston for 4 yrs and vw brookline has always managed to disappoint me in EVERY visit. i cant take it anymore... i`ve started to use other mechanics even though i would love to use the dealership.
first off, they NEVER clean the car after they service it (something vw says is a ""plus"" for using their dealerships when you purchase one of their cars)
they have always managed to screw me wi... view moreth prices. i dare anyone to ask them pricing for new tires/balancing/and alignment... i guarantee you can call any other place and get the EXACT same service (tires and all) for AT LEAST $100 less. I found $300 less.
and, i understand that they cant tell the future... meaning, they cant give you the exact time a car will be ready. but, MAN, if you say the car will be ready at noon, dont have it ready at 7pm. NOT ACCEPTABLE. O, and they dont do loaner cars if they take more than a day to fix your car. so, if you have a job, dont expect to go to work for 2 days because you wont have anyway to get there...
