I am new to NKC and had some rather serious tire and front end alignment issues. I knew they were there but not nearly as bad as they turned out to be. So, by pressing and immediate necessity moreso than desire, I reluctantly took my car to Jim`s after learning of their shop right here in NKC on Armour, and driven by there so many times for the 2+ years even prior to living in NKC. Long story short: the two front balljoints and pitman arm assembly as well as tires had to be replaced, right then. Despite my current financial situation with a move just two weeks prior and other pressing expenses I was dealing with, we came up with a game plan of attack, prioritized as I could not do it all at once financially, and they not only did excellent work above and beyond what I expected, but Jim and his staff, especially Nannette, proved that there still is something in this day and age called "customer service and care." I have found my car place now, and they will be my #1 in helping me maintain and take care of my 2001 Blazer, which is still going strong and looking pretty darn good for its age. But then again, when you try taking care of thigns, that will help them last longer as well. Very good people, very straightforward honesty and very good work ethic. You cannot go wrong with Jim`s and his staff! Thank you Jim, Nanette and staff - I will definitely see you soon for "phase 2" and the tires we spoke of.

My first visit Jim`s, found them through Google! Overall was an excellent experience. Major clutch and other work done on my Mini on short notice over 2 days. Work had to be completed because we were taking a long trip immediately after the repair work. I asked them to do a thorough road test after the work to make sure no surprises on the road. Don`t ever use Jims discount tire and brake service. Today I tried to have Jims discount tire and brake service install a set of 24" tires on a set of wheels and them put them on my truck. After getting no help unloading the tires they had an employee help unload my wheels. He dropped the first one about 6 inches from the ground, which made me pause out of concern. I moved the second wheel myself. He then ... view moretossed the third box with a wheel in it straight to the ground. He damaged my wheel in the process. I figured the guy was having a bad day and didn`t report it to his manager or the owner at the time because I was being nice and didn`t know it damaged the wheel. 2 hours later they proceed to tell me that low and behold one of the wheels is not straight and true. They say it must have been damaged during shipping. I then try to explain to them how their guy just tossed the wheel in the box. The lady who works the desk was not in the garage at the time, yet she was confident and adamant that she knew what happened. She didn`t let me explain anything before getting very testy with me. I then told her, she needs to let me speak. She doesn`t know what happened because she was not there. Her explanation makes no sense as she was trying to tell me where the wheel hit when her employee tossed it... It was in a box and landed awkwardly. You can not see in the box to know exactly where the wheel hit. After all of this they kicked my truck out and actually refused to refund me the money I had paid upfront for them to mount the wheels on the truck. They must need the 10 dollars more than I can imagine. They then threaten to call my boss because they know where I work. These people are scum. If you don`t buy your wheels from them they will attempt to damage yours, to make you purchase them through them. The lady behind the counter was nice enough to offer to throw away my original 24" wheels that were almost brand new..... Obviously she knows they are worth a couple thousand dollars and she wouldn`t be throwing them away, she would sell them.

I am the last person on earth to believe that something is truly as good as everyone says it is. Jims Discount Tire & Brake is the exception. In fact, my experience there last week was even better than expected. Every positive statement in every review you will read here is absolutely true and they will have my business for as long as they stay in business. Three thumbs up.

Great service and quick turnaround. I took my car here based on the reviews I found here and overall it was a good experience. I did not shop around for the best estimate as I was just trying to be done with it, and they took it out of my hands and left me completely happy in the end. Read the rest of the reviews, they convinced me!

This is a great family owned business. I originally was referred there by a friend and it was close by to where I was working. I called to see when I could bring the car in to have a rattling noise and brakes fixed and she told me to bring it in the next day. I brought it in the next afternoon and it was fixed on the spot. I was able to wait in the air conditioned lobby and it was ready to drive in about 2 hours. Ver... view morey friendly service and very affordable prices. I have been back to have my air conditioning fixed and again have had great service. I had a leak which I have been back 3 times for, but have only been charged one time, which I thought was very accommodating. Great job Jim`s Tire & Brake!

Walked in here after I was recommended by a friend. I had a nail in one of my tires and needed a patch. It was pretty busy when I got there, yet they got my tire patched and I was out of there within 15 minutes and they only charged me $12! Needless to say that after the service department at my dealer wanted to charge me $30 for doing this same task, I was very happy to have it done for less than half the price and ... view moreprobably half the time.
