I am writing this review because I saw a bad review of Dowell as I looked up their number online--and I think it`s unfair and untrue. As a business owner myself I know that thousands of happy customers might never leave reviews--mostly just the mad ones. As much as my computer business tries to do a good job and be fair, one out of every 2000 customers gets unreasonably mad and vents via a review. I am not associ... view moreated with Dowell except I have taken my cars there for repair on numerous occasions. I almost gave 5 stars--maybe I should have. Here is my honest opinion of them. I`ll start with the most negative first: They are about the same price as all the other reputable non-dealership repair places. We all want a place that`s always the cheapest but they are about average price. Maybe that`s why I withheld my 5th star. (Nevertheless, I still keep taking my car back there because I don`t know of any shop that`s better.) On the positive side, I consider them very knowledgeable and competent. They don`t try to "up-sell" or pressure sell you anything--just provide information you can make your own decision with. I disagree with the comment that they are "unfriendly". I would call them courteous, professional, business-like, fair, and human. By human, I mean their "friendliness" partially depends on the person they are interacting with. They may be less "friendly" if they are being cursed at--I don`t know because I`ve never done that to them. My perception gleaned from about a half dozen repairs at Dowell is that they have honest business practices. I trust them with my vehicle. That is one reason I go back. As for the guy with the 1-star review that said they charged "3X as much"? Was he comparing "apples to apples"? I doubt it--because otherwise, why didn`t he get quotes ahead of time and elect to go to the place 3X cheaper? I sure would. Finally, from a fellow business owner`s perspective, I would like to appeal to satisfied customers to take the time to write reviews--we rarely do. It seems like it`s only the people who have unreasonable expectations and don`t get their way.

That they over charged me, and...

That they over charged me, and were not that friendly. I ended up aying 3 times the amount that another shop charged me. Once I found out he was actually ripping me off unstead of giving a deal like he said he would I never took me car back to him.
