SHODDY WORKMANSHIP - PLEASE AVOID!!!!!!
On or about August 19, 2010 my car broke down and was towed to my regular mechanic`s shop, Willie Automotive of Covington, GA. The diagnosis of a blown head gasket was made. I was told by Dave Williams, the mechanic, that he would need to replace this along with a few other parts but there would be a possibility that my whole engine would need to be replaced. After approximately a month, almost $2400 in charges, with... view more $1720 paid to date, making numerous calls essentially having to ""chase"" Dave down to get updates and statuses of my vehicle. He made promise of deadlines after deadlines, missing them with no effort to contact me to update me as to the reason the deadlines were missed, having to get rides from friends and rent rental cars, etc... my engine was replaced with a rebuilt one. A week or so after the repairs, my check engine light came back on and was diagnosed with a bad knock sensor. I was told that the knock sensor measures engine vibration and since I was in need of a new engine mount (this I was aware of) this would be an accurate issue for the knock sensor but there would be no problem with the performance of the vehicle. I did not question Dave further as I had been a client of this shop under his brother, Chris` ownership for almost 5 years and never had any negative experiences with the shop. On November 13, 2010, my car broke down again. I had it towed to a different mechanic as I wanted a second opinion of what was now wrong with my vehicle before taking it to my regular mechanic, Dave, for repairs as I am a single mom and this is my only form of transportation and I am scared for the safety of myself and child if I bring my car back to Willie Automotive. Upon the diagnostic, the new mechanic found in front of me belt remnants within the timing belt compartment. The timing belt was in tact but the compartment was very dirty, dusty and contained belt fragments from an unknown source. I informed the mechanic that my timing belt had just been replaced within the past 2 months. He said that he did not feel that this was actually done by the condition of the chamber. He also said that the shoddy workmanship of not removing these belt particles has cause them to get caught up in the timing belt causing my car to skip timing and create the disruption within my valves, causing them to collide and punch a hole in my pistons. Resulting with me needing to get a new engine. Upon further checking, the new mechanic believes that the engine was not replaced at all that Dave actually rigged parts together with glue and such and charged me for another engine without actually replacing it. He then said as it looks now, even if he did replace the engine that this wouldn`t be a warranty issue as it was the mechanic who didn`t properly clean and replace the respective parts. The new mechanic also informed me that a knock sensor only measures the vibration from within the engine itself and would have absolutely nothing to do with the bad engine mount. When I called Dave to request a copy of the receipt and warranty paperwork for the engine, he told me I didn`t need this paperwork. Upon telling him that it was my legal right to have any documentation regarding repairs and parts for my car that was performed, Dave proceeded to inform me that ""no it isn`t, you don`t have any rights to these papers"". I reminded him that as a paralegal I knew better than that and I wanted the documents. I met with Dave today, 11/15/2010 to obtain this documentation so that I may proceed on and take what necessary measures I need to take to get my vehicle repaired, even if it`s legal measures so that I may get my car repaired and resume my life. He refused to provide the documents. There were a few other long time customers were present at the time who had also come in to complain about shoddy work done by this individual since he assumed ownership of this business.
