I took my car there and of course, they are typical mechanics. They wanted me to fix many things that are not necessary. They basically exaggerated the problems so they could make more money out of me. If I were you, I would not take my car to these guys ever!

i brought my car 2 days ago for kondo motors after my car breakdown on the PCH india the tow truck driver from santa monica towing recommend me that place they fix my car in two hours and i believe that they save my some money as well thank u guys for being so trustworthy and decent

My Kondo Motors experience was Fabulous...Chris, Wilfredo and Mr. Kondo are truely kind, friendly, very experienced gentlemen. I purchased a used car 60, 000 miles that was a lemon. It was advertised
as a great buy that was running great. Well, it did not run great, the coolant system, breaks, motor mounts
and all the parts sorrounding the engine needed replacing costing me 2100.00.

parts that were worn and replaced. Chris is so calm and very, very nice, I`ve never met a mechanic with
his calmness. I strongly recommend taking your car for any repair, being a female it is the FIRST
repair shop that did not try to cheat me.

The crew at Kondo Motors are by far some of the most kind people you will ever find. I went there to get my 01 acura cl type-s serviced, it was the 90,000 mile service. Santa Monica wanted like $550 and i think Kondo charged me something like $470. So I dropped my car off in the morning and was going to take the bus to work (work about 2 miles away) and after they realized I had to walk 4 blocks to the bus stop the o... view morewner said he could have one of his guys drop me off! I couldn`t believe it! They actually dropped me off at work, which was probably 20 blocks away AND picked me up when I got off.
You can`t pay for that kind of service and kindness.
Also my engine was clunking like a 80`s pick up truck, turns out the motor mounts were broken (you`re thinking wtf?). Yes, my motor mounts were broken and it was going to cost a over $100 to replace them. Well knowing that I was going to get it done and come home and have my boyfriend tell me that I got ripped off yet again for being a girl in an auto repair shop, I asked them if they could show me exactly where they were broken. Not only did they show me but they wrapped up the old motor mounts and I told me I could take them home to show my boyfriend that they were broken and I didn`t get ripped off!
He was really surprised at their prices, honesty and all around professionalism too!
I would recommend Kondo to anyone who is sick of getting lied to and ripped off by their dealership service center.

Learn what ""zen service"" is all about. Marvel at Mr. Kondo`s freakishly accurate vehicle diagnosis. Smile at the timeliness and cost-effectiveness of the work. Recommend to all your friends. Mr. Kondo, Wilfredo, and the Kondo Motors crew are the best.

I could count on one hand the number of competent and trustworthy mechanic shops I`ve known of in my lifetime..sad but true. These guys are included in that group. Not only are they trustworthy, they`re honest, keep you completely informed as to what`s going on with your car, and they`re not expensive either.

Highly recommended. If you have a Japanese car in Santa Monica, don`t take it anywhere else.

I must say at the outset that I have not actually had any work done at Kondo motors, but I am planning to, and their honesty and integrity inspired me to register and post a review on this site.

My Subaru Outback stalled on PCH and I was towed to Kondo Motors. They spent 20 minutes talking to me and assessing my car`s electrical system and throttle mechanism absolutely free of charge. When I told them the ... view morecar was under recall for the alternator and throttle body, they said they could do the work but I could get it for free at the dealer up the street. Needless to say, I went to the dealer and found that the work could be done under warranty because the car was under recall.

Although Kondo missed the opportunity to do some work on my car, they earned a customer for life because of their honesty and courtesy in dealing with me. Whereas a Subaru dealer charged me $40 to tell me my keyless entry system wasn`t working, Kondo performed an electrical systems check and driving inspection without charging me a thing. Although I got the recall work done at the dealer, I am scheduled to get a tune up for that same Subaru at Kondo. After my experience with them, I can say whole-heartedly that I would trust them with any car problem I have. These guys are in it for the long haul and it shows. If you have a japanese car, take it to them and you won`t be dissapointed

After having trouble with previous mechanic(they charge for things that is not fixed propery. and overcharge), I asked around and heard KONDO is good. So I went. And so happy with their honest attitude. Unlike other places who just gives you BIG BILLS, KONDO spend time with you to explain what`s the problem. And they only charges what`s needed. I have been going to Kondo Motors for 18 years. I will never go anywhere else. They are the only HONEST mechanics that I have come across. You can go in there thinking you need major work done, and come out with a $50 bill because it was only a small part that really needed replacing. They don`t take you for a ride. I would highly recommend them to anyone. They even do work on American cars now too!

I`ve only taken my car to Kondo once, but I was pleased with the service. The owner himself discussed the situation and gave us a fair quote. The work was done quickly, however, it does take time to get the quote as the place is usually backed up with cars.
