DO NOT GO HERE!!! I took my 1993 Volvo 940 in for a smog check. This was the first time in 20 years that it did not pass. They offered a free retest only if they repaired it, and quoted $85 for diagnostics with "over one hour of work" which often covers a simple repair. I left it for the afternoon and then received a quote of $1,100 to repair it. The price seemed very high, so I took it to my regular Volvo Mechanic w... view moreho did the repair for $350. I returned to Star for the "free retest." They refused, saying that the $85 for one hour of work did not count as a repair. The owner said they make their money doing repairs and not doing smog tests, which explains the excessive $1,100 quote for repairs. GM Automotive will do a free retest without strings, so I have taken 3 of our cars there now and will never go back to Star again. Beware of Star... they are out to milk you for expensive repairs.
