Stay away, far away

My daughter had the Rover towed in when she saw steam coming from under the hood. They called my wife later that day and wanted to charge $78 for a replacement expansion tank. Plus a half hour labor to replace it for a total of $129 and change. I told them that a new tank only cost $34 and unless they would lower their price,-I offered $100, I`d just do it myself. The woman behind the desk got nasty and said, "Well... view more we`ll have to charge $95.00 as a diagnostic fee." I couldn`t beleive it, but rather than argue I told them to replace the tank, which they did. Then they called my wife to tell her it didn`t resolve the problem. That it "could" be the thermostat, which they`d charge $110 to fix....OR it could be the radiator, which they said would be "Very Expensive". I told my wife to tell them to have it ready...we`d pay for the work done so far and pick it up. When I got back in town I checked the car and it turns out it was the $7.95 thermostat which took exactly 3 minutes to replace -2 bolts, right in front. Business must be bad or their new, larger shop must have pretty high rent...either way, the "diagnostic service is terrible and they`ll gouge you if you go there.
