information on SALVAGE AND REBUILT TITLEs

(this car has a salvage/rebuilt title)

Buying a car with a rebuilt title is one of the best kept secrets most new car dealers don't want you to know about.  That's because it allows people just like you to save thousands of dollars off the purchase of a car that while may not be brand new, is certainly the next best thing.

Compare the mileage, condition, and price of this vehicle to those sold by other car dealers and you will quickly see for yourself the difference in value this car offers over others.

So what exactly does a salvage title or rebuilt title mean?  A car with a salvage title means that the insurance company decided not to fix the car and instead chose to pay the owner the full amount of their insurance claim.  By declaring a vehicle as a "Total Loss” the insurance company removes themselves from the risk of incurring any liability claims sometime in the future.

Does that means the car is totaled and no longer drivable?  The answer is, not always.  Although an insurance company may consider a car totaled, that doesn't necessarily mean that it is physically totaled and completely unusable anymore.

For example, sometimes a car has minor damage, but the parts are very expensive so the cost of repairing the car is greater than the cost to pay off the claim.  In finance terms, it is a simple cost-benefit analysis.  The insurance companies asks themselves, "Does it cost more to classify the car as totaled and pay the claim in full, or does it cost more to have the car repaired and restored to a brand new condition?"

In many cases, it is faster, easier, and cheaper for the insurance company to simply write a check to the car owner and declare the car a total loss than it is to go through the lengthy and costly process of having the car completely restored to a like-new condition.  This is especially true for those owners who just purchased a car from a new car dealer and who is charging them full retail price for the privilege of doing so.

The car owner is paying for a brand new car and if the work is not done to his or her satisfaction, chances are the car owner will not be happy.  The auto body shop will then have to redo the work until the customer is completely satisfied which costs the insurance company even more time and money.

It is for precisely situations like this that insurance companies prefer to mitigate their losses by cutting them short.  The insurance company and the car owner often mutually agree to classify the vehicle as totaled for a specified amount so that both parties can limit the time and expense of dealing with a car that must be restored to a near perfect condition.

Sometimes the owner does not want to get the vehicle repaired because it is faster and easier to go back to the dealer and pick out a brand new car.  Depending on the insurance company and the make and model of the car, the insurance company may simply choose to pay the owner in full.

Remember, just like any other company, insurance companies are in business to make a profit.  Using a cost-benefit analysis approach objectively guides them through the decision making process that it is in the best interests of their company.

If a car gets stolen the Insurance company has thirty days to recover the vehicle.  If the car is not recovered in thirty days, the company pays off the owner and once the car is recovered, it is brought to the auction as a Total Loss vehicle even if it did not have any damage to it whatsoever.

We have purchased 'Total Loss" cars from Insurance companies with door dings, extremely minor fender bender, and theft recovered vehicles with absolutely no damage.  In fact, most of the vehicles purchased have very minor damage and NONE of the vehicles purchased have had the air bags deployed.  In addition, we do not purchase cars having any kind of flood damage.  Finally, we do not buy or sell cars that have had major damage, but instead focus on those only having minor to no damage at all.

Rebuilt Titles -  Once all of the necessary repairs have been completed, the car is then inspected by an authorized state inspection center to ensure that the repairs have been properly made and that the vehicle is road worthy.  Only after a very thorough inspection has been conducted can a rebuilt title be issued.

This means that a new owner will not have to have an inspection done to get the car back on the road. It saves a lot of trouble for buyers as they don’t have to get the car inspected or fill out any extra paper work as is the case with a Salvage title.

This car has already had all of the repairs completed and has been fully inspected by a Texas state authorized inspection center.  This car will come with the necessary paperwork so that when the title is transferred into your name, the newly issued title will be issued as a 'rebuilt title' and not a 'salvage title.'  The process is very easy and the new 'rebuilt title' is typically sent to the purchaser within 2 to 3 weeks.

In summary, just because the insurance company has designated a vehicle as a Total Loss for financial reasons does not necessarily mean that the car was in a serious accident or that it had extensive damage.   Remember that it is in the best interests of the insurance companies to minimize their losses and oftentimes the best way to do that is by declaring the car to be a total loss.

Remember, too, that it is in the best interests of new car dealers to keep this insider secret to themselves.  After all, their job is to maximize shareholder profits and the way they do that is by selling new cars.  The more people like you who discover this little known secret of saving thousands of dollars by buying a car with a rebuilt title, the less money they make for themselves.  Given a choice of lining new car dealer's pockets with lucrative profits, or lining your own pockets with thousands of dollars in savings, which would you choose?

2016 Scion iM First Drive

Mon, Jun 29 2015

The 2016 Scion iM can't launch soon enough. It's a fully competitive, well-rounded hatchback. It's functional. It's cute. And it's priced under $20,000. But perhaps more importantly, the iM represents a big breath of life into the increasingly less relevant Scion brand. In 2006, Scion moved 173,034 cars in the United States with only three models – the xA, xB, and tC. Fast forward to 2014, Scion moved just 58,009 units in our market, and that's with a five-car lineup. Yes, the original, boxy xB posted better sales numbers all by itself in 2006 than the entire Scion range did in 2014. Midway through 2015, the situation is worse. Scion sold 21,093 units through the end of May, compared to 26,024 during the same period in 2014. The iQ is dead. The xB and xD are on their way out. Now more than ever, Scion desperately needs fresh metal in its showrooms. Enter the iM and, to a lesser extent, the 2016 iA sedan that arrives at the same time. The iM is a more conventional Scion. But that's a good thing. The automaker recognizes that it needs cars that more appropriately play in the mainstream in order to attract a broader spectrum of customers. As such, the iM is sized to fit in with other C-segment hatchbacks. At 170.5 inches long, 69.3 inches wide, and 55.3 inches tall the Scion is longer than a Volkswagen Golf, but slightly narrower and shorter. Scion loads the iM up with a good amount of standard equipment. Like Scion's past offerings, the car only comes one way. Every iM starts as the car you see here (well, except for color), with 17-inch wheels and a body kit that's more sporty than conservative. It looks tacked-on, though – think last-generation Corolla S. Still, on the road, the iM is handsome, and looks good in brighter, more vibrant colors. It's not as sculpted or pretty as a Mazda3 or Ford Focus, but the iM isn't a bland, uninspired two-box shape. And if it looks familiar to your eyes, that's because it already exists as the Toyota Auris overseas. With only one spec on offer, Scion loads the iM up with a good amount of standard equipment. Every iM rolls off the line with dual-zone, automatic climate control, auto-on/off headlamps, and a seven-inch touchscreen display for the Pioneer audio and Toyota Entune-based infotainment system. That's all well and good, but it also means there are no major upgrades available. You can't get a sunroof or xenon headlamps. Same goes for leather upholstery. Don't even think about heated seats.

Incrementally better than ever | 2017 Toyota 86 First Drive

Tue, Oct 4 2016

We'd love to tell you that the incremental upgrades bestowed upon Toyota's rear-wheel-drive coupe as it made its transition from Scion FR-S to Toyota 86 have transformed it into a perfect sportscar. If only a few more horsepower, shorter rear-end gearing, and tiny aero updates were enough to quell all the complaints that enthusiasts have leveled at the machine since the platform first hit the road in 2012, this review would have been so much more satisfying to write. Sadly, that's not the case. Don't get us wrong. The 86 is still extremely fun to toss around a twisty road. The chassis is impressively balanced, the steering is direct, and the shifter is sweet. Sorry to impart upon you this well-worn trope, but the old adage that it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow is, in this case, completely accurate. The 2017 Toyota 86 is nothing if not entertaining. But it's not completely new. It hasn't been transformed. It is, in the end, the same as it ever was. It will take about three minutes of your time to watch the videos below, in which we cover pretty much everything that's new for the 2017 Toyota 86. Toyota 86s equipped with manual transmissions get a five-pony boost to 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. Automatic models soldier forth with a carryover 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out 200 hp and 151 lb-ft. Apparently, more than half of Scion FR-S buyers chose the automatic. That's unfortunate, as it drains a good deal of the fun out of the 86 experience. Choose the manual and you'll be rewarded with an easy clutch and a rewarding short-throw shifter. And, as we said, five more ponies, courtesy of intake and exhaust tweaks and the polishing of some internal engine components. The only upside to the automatic is improved fuel economy of 24 miles per gallon in the city and 32 on the highway. Manual 86s are EPA-rated at 21/28. Along with the small bump in power, the 2017 86 gets a 4.3:1 rear-end gear ratio in lieu of the old 4.1:1 unit. That ought to translate into a small improvement in acceleration that really only matters on paper. In the real world, on actual roads, the difference is negligible. To eke the most out of the 86, you have to constantly work the shifter and keep the engine north of 5,000 rpm. It's still not particularly quick, but it's definitely fun. There's plenty of noise inside the 86, from the wind, the road, and the engine.

2015 Toyota Auris freshens up in Geneva, prepares for New York debut

Thu, Mar 5 2015

Toyota is preparing to bring its Auris hatchback to the US market as a Scion. That makes news of this refreshed Auris, debuting at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, a fairly noteworthy piece of news. Changes are decidedly light, befitting of a refresh. Toyota has tweaked the headlights, taillights and both bumpers for 2015, featuring a wider grille up front. In the cabin, changes are similarly limited, with updated connectivity equipment, particularly the area around the infotainment system, being the biggest change. A new instrument cluster looks to have been installed, as well. Aside from those changes, though, Toyota didn't do too much to the Auris. You can check out our full gallery of live images for Geneva, and you'll want to be sure to check back here next month, for the official coverage of the Auris-based Scion iM when it debuts at the 2015 New York Auto Show. NEW TOYOTA AURIS TO JOIN NEW AVENSIS ON STAGE AT GENEVA Motor show debut for British-built Auris hatchback and wagon Toyota will reveal its new Auris at the Geneva motor show (3 – 15 March), the British-built hatchback and Touring Sports wagon versions making their debut alongside new Avensis. New Auris enjoys a refreshed design that adds presence and prestige, together with an upgraded cabin and new comfort and safety equipment features. The hybrid remains at the heart of the range, having established itself as the leading powertrain in the line-up, accounting for around half of all Auris sales in Europe in 2014. Nonetheless, the new model heralds the arrival of new and improved petrol and diesel engines, developed with a focus on efficiency and performance. The simultaneous reveal of new Auris and Avensis follows on from last year's introduction of Aygo and Yaris to complete a full rejuvenation of Toyota's core European model range. Both Auris and Avensis will continue to be built side by side at Toyota Manufacturing UK's car plant at Burnaston, near Derby. Toyota will host its Geneva motor show press conference on its stand in Hall 4 at Palexpo, at 12.15pm on 3 March. Related Video:
