Hey Ebay how's it going? Today I'm selling my Yellow 2001 Saturn Sc2.

This vehicle runs and drives excellent. It is a 5 speed manual transmission and it has about 219,000 miles on it!

I drive this car everyday and it's a sporty little coupe with the addition of a behind the drivers side extra door
Cautiously driving around town I get 38 Mpg when I drive 60 Mph on the interstate I'm getting 44 mpg!
You don't need a new car to get great mpgs and Saturns are very safe, very attractive, and very  reliable cars.

There has been many maitenance repairs done and you'll be pleased to know the car runs 100% and promises many many more miles!

  • Water pump and chain done at 200,000 miles
  • Spark plugs done at 215,000
  • Shift linkage was repaired with the aftermarket linkage from Napa $80 part and $350 labor bill! At 203,000 Miles
  • Wheel bearings in the front replaced at 215,000 miles
  • Brakes upfront were done, rotors and pads 215,000 miles
  • The muffler was just replaced
  • It HAD an engine light for a crank sensor and I replaced that along with the Idle Air Control Valve
  • Oil change was just done at 218,000 miles.
  • It shifts through all 5 gears flawlessly, the clutch is perfect, the reverse works as well.
  • Power windows, doors, mirrors, and locks. Manual seats, the drivers seat is stuck and will recline but not move forward or back.
I have an aftermarket CD player, that plays DVDs as well as having hookups for a backup camera. It plays your usb cards, cds, mp3. I will include it if it goes for more than $1200 if not it has the stock and original CD player.

All appears great but it does have 219,000 miles on it. The rear tires which are 15's need replacing, The window tint looks nice but it's not the greatest and I'd remove it but it's never been an issue to me. The rims look outdated even though they're original (4x100's) are everywhere on the internet. The intake is aftermarket I have the orgiginal air intake that I will put on it for when the car is purchased. The drivers seat not moving forward or back is not an issue, I'm 5'10" and have no issue driving, it's positioned perfectly for 5'3"-6"1" in my honest opinion. Slight rip as seen on the drivers seat. I love the car, but I'm needing something bigger and newer. It has a 10.9 gallon tank and will go 440 miles on it, you'll not be let down by my Saturn.

The paint is so so, 7/10 a few spots need touch up, the front bumper has a crack and scuff as seen in the pictures. My price is beyond fair when you see what these cars are going for on here. I need a $500 deposit. I have no problem driving the car to you if you're in New England. You cover the gas cost however. The windshield was also replaced and it's awesome not more pitted glass.

GM isn't liable for punitive damages in ignition switch cases

Wed, Nov 20 2019

NEW YORK — A federal appeals court said General Motors is not liable for punitive damages over accidents that occurred after its 2009 bankruptcy and involved vehicles it produced earlier, including vehicles with faulty ignition switches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday that the automaker did not agree to contractually assume liability for punitive damages as part of its federally-backed Chapter 11 reorganization. GM filed for bankruptcy in June 2009, and its best assets were transferred to a new Detroit-based company with the same name. The other assets and many liabilities stayed with "Old GM," which is also known as Motors Liquidation Co. Tuesday's 3-0 decision may help GM reduce its ultimate exposure in nationwide litigation over defective ignition switches in several Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models. It is also a defeat for drivers involved in post-bankruptcy accidents, including those who collided with older GM vehicles driven by others, as well as their law firms. The ignition switch defect could cause engine stalls and keep airbags from deploying, and has been linked to 124 deaths. A lawyer for the drivers and their law firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. GM had no comment. Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs said GM's agreement to acquire assets "free and clear" of most liabilities excused it from punitive damages claims for Old GM's conduct. He also noted that the judge who oversaw the bankruptcy concluded that the new company could not be liable for claims that the "deeply insolvent" Old GM would never have paid. The decision upheld a May 2018 ruling by U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan, who oversees the ignition switch litigation. Drivers have sought a variety of damages in that litigation, including for declining resale values. GM has recalled more than 2.6 million vehicles since 2014 over ignition switch problems. It has also paid more than $2.6 billion in related penalties and settlements, including $900 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice criminal case. Junkyard Gem: 2008 Saturn Astra XR 3-Door Hatchback

Sun, Mar 13 2022

GM's Saturn brand spent the first part of the 2000s shifting over to vehicles on global corporate platforms, then spent the second half of the decade increasingly flailing for relevance as The General itself struggled to stay upright. By 2008, prospects for Saturn— and the American economy in general— didn't look so great, but that was the first model year for the Saturn-badged Opel Astra in North America. The announcement that the axe would be falling on Saturn came the following year, soon after GM declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and so 2009 became the final year for the Saturn Astra. Some MY2010 Saturns were sold (the Sky, Outlook, and Aura), but the Astra shares the dubious honor of the shortest Saturn sales run with the long-forgotten Saturn Relay minivan. For this reason, I keep my junkyard eye open for discarded Astras, and finally found this very clean '08 three-door in a Denver self-service yard last week. The Astra could be purchased with three doors or five, in two very similar trim levels. This car is the three-door, which was available only in semi-high-zoot XR trim. I'm not sure if the Opel Astra got these GM "Mark of Excellence" fender badges, but all American-market 2005-2009 GM vehicles have them (not counting stuff bearing the crypto-GM Suzuki badge). I've got dozens of these badges glued to my garage wall, because why not? Just one engine was available in the Saturn Astra: a 1.8-liter Ecotec four rated at 138 horsepower. The Ecotec has proven to be an unusually reliable engine, but I suspect that this one died in some expensive manner (because the rest of the car looks so nice) and that's why the car is here now. The base transmission in the Astra was a five-on-the-floor manual, and that's what this car has. The four-speed automatic cost an extra $1,325 on an $18,375 car (that's about  $1,765 on a $24,475 car in 2022 dollars), so either the original purchaser of this car preferred three-pedal driving or was just a cheapskate. I haven't seen enough junkyard Astras to know if the manual transmission is very rare in these cars; the five-door I found a few years back had the automatic. Presumably, an American car shopper looking for the European-style driving experience of an Opel might prefer the manual. Built in Antwerp, Belgium! As this was just a rebadged Opel, the Astra did not have the standard GM radio faceplate found in everything from the Chevrolet Equinox to the Saab 9-3.

GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

2010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.
