1993 Saab 900 Turbo convertible 5spd
The car is in fantastic condition. Solid car no rot problems. I have included pics of before i got it painted. I has lots of new parts including Steering rack, head gasket, tires, ball joints, slave cylinder, clutch. 9000 aero seats and wheels 2 brand new yokohama parada's on the front because i couldn't get the Goodyear F1 that were on the back(that are in good shape). New convertible top a couple years ago. Still in nice shape. Clarion cd with usb port. Infinity cabin speakers Red Box computer and 3.5 fuel pressure regulator. SaabRally differential cover Car cover New battery Last week. INCLUDED WITH THE CAR 10 pcs spg body kit and oem saab triple gauge pod with 3 gauges and a brand new front mount intercooler and piping a used 5spd transmission The trans was rebuilt about 3k miles ago. Recently the car started popping out of second on deceleration. I haven't looked that much into it. I think it is going to be a bad shift fork. It bucked hard enough to break a engine mount on the highway one day when a fitting blew out on the intake manifold. I have fixed the fitting and engine mount. But haven't gotten into 2nd gear issue. It still drives good as long as you hold it into second. Also the Air conditioning was removed a couple years ago, and there is a small exhaust leak. Bid, Win, Cruise it the rest of the summer and then tinker in the winter! Feel free to ask any questions. Car is sold as is where is. I can help with shipping. |

Junkyard Gem: 1986 Saab 900 Turbo
Fri, May 31 2019The Saab 900 sold well in Colorado, and owners of these cars tend to hang onto them for decades. For those reasons, I still find 900s while making my rounds of the self-service wrecking yards in the Denver region. The turbocharged models tended to fail more quickly than their naturally-aspirated counterparts, though, so the 900 Turbo can be tough to find today. Here's a 1986 that took its final tow-truck ride into a Denver yard a couple of months back. The 900 received a makeover for the 1987 model year, so today's Junkyard Gem comes from the final year of the 900 with the endearingly 1960s face derived from its 99 predecessor. Most of these cars didn't chug along for quite as many miles as their Volvo 240 countrymen, but that may be attributable more to the differences in driving style between Volvo and Saab owners. The word TURBO had magical connotations during the 1980s, and so most turbocharged cars of the era boasted big, obvious badging. Red car interiors were all the rage during the 1980s and 1990s. Try to imagine the vivid bordellitude of this upholstery before it faded beneath the blazing Colorado sun. Was it a runner when it arrived here? We'll never know. Born from jets, sure, though the original Saab jet was known as "the Flying Barrel" and wasn't especially graceful-looking. Last Saab 9-3 built nets nearly $48,000 at auction
Thu, Nov 14 2019It was among the last Saabs to roll off the production line in Trollhattan, Sweden, is virtually new, and now it has a new owner. The Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo4 we told you about a month ago has sold in an auction for the equivalent of $47,789. As with anything related to the remnants of the legendary Swedish automotive brand, the backstory on this one is a little complicated, starting with the model year. Saab originally ground production to a halt in 2011. This model came about after National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) acquired the brand out of bankruptcy, and was part of a run of 420 models built starting in late 2013 before NEVS lost the rights to use the Saab name and griffin logo. It was originally set aside for crash testing, but never actually used for that purpose, and mostly sat idle inside the plant, in case NEVS restarted production of combustion vehicles. The 41 miles on the odometer came from running the car on a test track near the Trollhattan plant for photography and video purposes. It features a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine that makes 217 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It has a two-tone interior with cream leather seats and a dashboard and center console that looks like what you might expect to result from Saab's parts-sharing arrangement under the ownership of bankruptcy-era General Motors. Nowadays, NEVS has financial backing from Chinese investors and is making electric vehicles based on the 9-3 platform and body, just without any Saab badging. It continues to operate the Trollhattan plant and another in Tianjin, China, and it reportedly plans a new plant in Shanghai. NEVS also has partnered with Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg in a venture to develop new EVs. The 9-3 buyer’s name is Claus Spaangaard. HeÂ’s a Danish car collector and car-repair shop owner who says he already owns two Saab cars. Proceeds from the auction will fund research into sustainable mobility in Sweden, NEVS says.
New owners still struggling to secure rights to use Saab name
Wed, 27 Jun 2012Not to state the obvious, but if you're going to buy an automaker, it's probably advisable to secure rights to use the name.
That's what the new owners of Saab are trying to work out after buying the iconic Swedish automaker earlier this month, Automotive News reports.
National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), the Chinese-Japanese conglomerate, acquired the company's physical assets, including its factory in Trollhättan, but didn't get rights to use the Saab name and logo. Truckmaker Scania and defense company Saab AB maintain the name and logo rights, and will need to sign off on NEVS using it, according to the publication. The parties are in discussions.
