I am the original owner, having purchased this from Secor Saab in New London, CT in October 2001. Dealer maintained, in great shape. Always garaged, quite clean. All maintenance records. Running perfectly. Typically 28 MPG highway doing 65, low 20's MPG in town. All electronics are working except for the alarm. Oil changes done by me every 5000 miles, using Saab Turbo oil until it became unavailable, then exclusively Mobil 1. Burns about half a quart between oil changes. Bilstein struts and shocks installed at 60,000 miles. Recent water pump, fuel pump, battery and brake pad replacement. The interior is nearly perfect, with the leather like new, having been conditioned at least once a year. The only interior flaw is some mild discoloration of the carpet in the cargo area (from pool chlorine). The body is overall in great shape, but there are some stone chips in the front hood, a few minor dings, and a crack in the left front turn signal as seen in photo. Alloy rims are in good shape with Michelin Primacy MXV 4 tires with about 5000 miles on them. Included are Bridgestone Blizzaks on steel wheels with hubcaps that have 2 seasons on them. Also included are Saab roof mounted luggage racks along with Saab ski racks, and Weathertech winter floor mats.
The resale value of these cars is way low considering how solid they are. With the Blizzaks on, this car is great in the snow. My wife loves this car, but after 12 years, it is time to move on.
For sale locally as well, so auction may end early.

1999 Saab 9-3 Viggen is a Swede worth remembering on MotorWeek
Sun, Aug 30 2015Today, Saab survives in name only after a protracted series of bankruptcies and attempted comebacks with new owners. At the turn of the millennium, however, the brand was still able to make some great cars, though. MotorWeek is showing off one of its very best in this vintage review for the 1999 9-3 Viggen. The jet-inspired Viggen was the pinnacle of everything Saab's engineers could do at the time. Starting with the standard 9-3, the suspension was hunkered down to improve handling and lower bodywork was added for better aerodynamics. Now that the exterior looked the part, the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder was tweaked to make 225 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque. While that output may not sound hugely impressive by modern standards, those were strong numbers in the day, and the following model year made even more power. After some time behind the wheel of the VIggen, MotorWeek came away quite impressed with this Swede. While the Viggen might not have offered the full capability of high-performance, European contemporaries like the BMW M3, Saab really showed its strengths with this model.
Deal brokered to get Saab warranty service honored at GM dealers
Mon, 24 Dec 2012When Pontiac, Hummer and Saturn were killed off, at least current owners never had to question where they would have to take their vehicle in case it needed to be serviced. The same couldn't be said for Saab owners... until now. General Motors and Saab Automobile Parts North America (the remaining entity of the bankrupted automaker) have signed an agreement that provides 179 service centers to current Saab owners to receive factory-trained technicians and official Saab replacement parts.
These warranty service providers will have all the tools, training and parts to maintain and repair Saab vehicles, and they will also have access to a technical assistance center for the technicians. Next year, SPNA will also set up a customer assistance center, which will likely be most useful in helping current owners find repair shows, as well as a program called Saab Secure to give added service support to owners of late model (2010 and 2011 model year) Saab vehicles. Finally, to make sure customers have a sufficient parts supply to keep their cars on the road, SPNA operates out of a 153,000 square foot warehouse in Michigan that has the ability to ship more than 3,000 parts orders per day.
GM's official press release on the agreement is posted after the jump.
GM wins appeal, dismissal of $3B Saab-related Spyker suit
Sun, Oct 26 2014It's been a long time since we last heard of the legal battles between Spyker CEO Victor Muller and General Motors, the automaker from which Muller's company purchased the embattled Saab brand back in 2010. To refresh your memories, after struggling through 2011 and entering into bankruptcy, Spyker attempted to save the Saab brand by selling it to a Chinese consortium. General Motors, though, blocked the sale because it did not want any of its intellectual property, of which Saab was in possession of from its days under the GM umbrella, in the hands of a potential rival automaker. Spyker then sued GM for intentionally blocking what it said was Saab's only chance of survival. The $3-billion suit was dismissed after a judge ruled in favor of GM, which apparently had granted a license to Saab to continue building cars using its technologies, but reserved the right to cancel that agreement if Saab again changed hands. Spyker appealed, and, according to Reuters, the appeals court upheld the previous ruling, again siding with GM. National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the company that eventually purchased Saab out of bankruptcy, managed to restart production for a short period before itself falling into financial trouble. We have at least another month to wait before hearing how Saab's next chapter may read.
