This vehicle is consignment from previous owner. Previous owner is on assignment oversea now. His original contract was for a year but just extended for 3 years recently. He decided to sell his beloved wagon which was in the storage for over a year since he left country.  We got the key from the owner and brought the car out from storage. just cleaned up. and put up on ebay.

The car has Aero trim level with Touring package (Xenon headlights, Parking sensor, Harmon Kardon Audio system, Electric auto-dimming rear view mirror with HOMELINK garage opener) and rare manual transmission. Black Exterior with Black Interior. Aero trim specific 'darth vader' Sports front seats as well as rear heated seats.

Mechanical: Cars runs & drives. We only drove short distance up & down the trailer and cleaning shop. It has ABS/BRAKE/ESP warning lights on after push the brake pedal. Saab scanner tells us ESP (ABS) module pressure switch has intermittent failure. The car's owner doesn't want us to fix it since it's on consignment. Brakes rotor has rust due to sitting on the storage for over a year. We did oil change with Mobile 1 0w-40 synthetic oil. the owner did oil change with synthetic every 5K miles as well. Exhaust has some leak from flex pipe. might need engine damper mount & transmission mount in near future (Common problem with saabs). vehicle was running over an hour as idle after changed the oil. No over heating or check engine light was shown. No smoking when starts up. Due to ABS/ESP pressure sensor error, we didn't take out the car for the test drive. Sensor itself is not too expensive but labor (since brake lines has to be blended) was expected to be 3~4 hours. therefore, owner decided not to fix it. currently brakes are working fine on short drive. If you're handy man, you can change ABS/ESP module cheaply and you gonna have nice rare aero manual wagon with low miles!

Interior: Clean. No tear or wear marks on the leather seats. As most of saab does, there're missing pixels on SID (Saab information display panel). We have 1 combo key (Key+remote) in hand.

Body: No rust spots or major scratches. There're some scuff marks on the bumper. few small dents around the car but no paint damages. No paint work on any panels. Surprisingly (Unlike any other used saab) , Front xenon headlight has no foggy spots.

Tires: 225/45/17  4 tires are matching but about 40% tread left.

Since this vehicle is on consignment, we are not charging document fees. You're more than welcome to visit grand blanc, MI with appointment to look at the car.

We are selling this car as-is. where-is.

Celebrate Volvo's 89th birthday with some neat facts

Thu, Apr 14 2016

Volvo, arguably Sweden's best-known non-ABBA export, will celebrate the big 9-0 next year. The company has always operated somewhat under the radar, but it has its share of stories to tell despite an image formed by decades of solid, safe, and sensible cars. To celebrate the occasion, here are five lesser-known facts about Sweden's last remaining car brand. 1. It opened North America's first foreign car plant. Idyllic Halifax was a small fishing city of about a quarter-million in the early 1960s when Volvo arrived and became the first import brand to build cars en masse in North America. American consumers on the East Coast developed a fondness for the Volvo Amazon line in the late 1950s, leading Volvo to seek out a plant in the Americas. Halifax ponied up incentives, allowing Volvo to take advantage of a pact eliminating tariffs on cars built and exported between the United States and Canada. Volvo built cars there until the end of 1998, when it said its facility was no longer viable compared to larger factories in Europe. That brings us to The Netherlands, where Volvo bought a quirky, innovative automaker that once sold a car called the Daffodil (which was actually its luxury model). 2. You can thank Volvo for CVTs – even though it doesn't use them. Volvo wasn't interested in picking flowers. It wanted the automotive arm of truck manufacturer DAF, which would include its assembly plant, its Renault engines, and the first mainstream application of the CVT gearbox. Volvo acquired DAF's car business over the course of a few years in the early 1970s and, in typical Volvo safety-oriented style, it slapped big bumpers and head restraints on the little DAF 66 and rebadged it as the Volvo 66. The Dutch assembly plant would grow to include a partnership with Mitsubishi in the early '90s. Today, it operates as NedCar and builds Mini Coopers for BMW. Volvo is no longer involved in NedCar or DAF (which sold its CVT division to Bosch, by the way), but its acquisition of DAF helped ensure the success of CVTs. Ironically, even though Volvo's investment helped make CVTs mainstream, the Swedish automaker's affair with them was brief, and today it utilizes only conventional automatics. 3. The Swedish carmakers were pals. Over its 89 years, Volvo has been closely connected to a number of automakers – most notably Ford, which ran the company for a decade, and its current owner Geely. But Volvo is most closely linked to its longtime competitor, Saab.

Boeing, Saab take first flight in T-X trainer 36 months after starting development

Wed, Dec 21 2016

This post is appearing on Autoblog Military, Autoblog's sub-site dedicated to the vehicles, aircraft and ships of the world's armed forces. Bringing a new fighter from drawing board to its first flight is generally a lengthy endeavor, taking years of planning and tweaking and engineering. Or, at least it normally does. Boeing and Saab just took their new joint-developed training fighter, the T-X, out for its first spin just 36 months after starting development. According to Saab's deputy program manager for the T-X, Eddy De la Motte, that's half the time it usually takes to get a new jet in the sky. "We went from [critical design review] to first flight in 12 months. We don't do that very much at the Boeing Company," Boeing's program manager for the T-X, Ted Torgerson told Defense News. "I don't want to say it has not been done, but for a manned aircraft to go through a complete production-ready design, that is as fast and as efficient as we've ever been through it." Boeing/Saab's first test flight was a simple, 55-minute matter for Boeing test pilots Steven Schmidt and Dan Draeger. The pair took the plane up to 10,000 feet and hit speeds of 231 knots (265 miles per hour) while running handling checks on the twin-tail, single-engine jet. "I've been a part of this team since the beginning, and it was really exciting to be the first to train and fly," pilot Schmidt said. "The aircraft met all expectations. It's well designed and offers superior handling characteristics. The cockpit is intuitive, spacious and adjustable, so everything is within easy reach." "It was a smooth flight and a successful test mission," Draeger, who rode shotgun in the instructor's seat said in an official release. "I had a great all-around view throughout the flight from the instructor's seat, which is critical during training." Boeing/Saab's T-X is one of four jets competing for the role as the US military's next training aircraft. Northrop Grumman is fielding a clean-sheet design that allegedly flew earlier this year, while Lockheed Martin and Raytheon are modifying existing designs with partners – the South Korean KAI T-50 for Lockheed and the Leonardo M-346 for Raytheon. Turkey buys rights to Saab 9-3 for domestic car

Mon, Oct 19 2015

Just in time for Halloween, a Saab is rising from the dead. National Electric Vehicle Sweden, which controls the Swedish automaker, is selling the intellectual property rights for the second-generation 9-3 to the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). This government-supported agency intends to turn the sedan into the "Turkish National Car," according to NEVS. Using the aging 9-3 as a backbone, Turkey intends to strengthen the nation's auto industry by producing an extended-range electric vehicle by 2020, Daily Sabah reports. The goal is for 85-90 percent of the components to come from the country. "From design to production, Turkey will be the center for all parts and processes regarding the first domestically produced car," Interim Science, Industry and Technology Minister Fikri Isik said to Daily Sabah. TUBITAK considered developing its own vehicle from scratch but calculated at least $1 billion in costs. Without going into specific detail, Isik said that buying the rights to the existing Saab turned out to be a better option. Despite having sold the 9-3 IP, NEVS is signing on to help with a business plan and to create the necessary supply and distribution chains for the EV. NEVS previously tried to revive the 9-3 itself by briefly continuing production and attempting to launch an electric version. Earlier this year, it partnered with Dongfeng to develop green vehicles. The company has been beset with financial problems, embroiled in a seemingly interminable post-bankruptcy reorganization progress. NEVS has been chosen by TUBITAK as its partner for developing a Turkish National Car TUBITAK, (the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) which has been assigned to develop "Turkish National Car" and realize this important mission, has chosen National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB, Nevs, as the industrial partner for the project. The cooperation has started in June 2015 between Nevs and TUBITAK and future industrial synergies in terms of development and manufacturing shall be generated with this cooperation. In the short term perspective this cooperation shall put Nevs' assets to work and shall give Turkey quick access to extensive automotive knowledge and experience. Nevs shall also provide its know-how in the developing of the business plan and establishing of the supply and distribution chains to TUBITAK.
