2010 Saab 9-5 Aero Flood Car For Parts 2.8 V6 Turbo 300hp Xwd 19" Wheels Hud Nav on 2040-cars
Devault, Pennsylvania, United States
2010 Saab 9-5 Aero. Flood vehicle. Vehicle is not running and is best used for parts. I am relisting the car with a $1,000.00 discount! This vehicle was in a saltwater flood in Florida in 2012. The water line appears to have been just above the seat bottoms. Unfortunately nature has taken its course and the interior is now pretty moldy. The condition of the engine is not completely known. The intake pipes and turbo inlet show signs of oil, but not water. I took a photo of the inside of the intake manifold (see 3rd last photo) and see no signs of water. I drained the oil and saw a little swirling brown color, indicating a small amount of water was in there. I have not tried to turn the motor over and will leave the rest of the diagnosis to the buyer. I don't think the engine sucked in flood water, but the condition of the internals may need attention to avoid damaging the cylinder walls. Please note that the engine is covered in sand from the flood. The exterior is in relatively good condition. There are some black scuffs on the body, mostly on the hood and front bumper. I tried using a rubbing compound on a small test area and the scuffs came out. The car has some other dents and scratches, the largest is on the passenger side rocker panel (see photo). The front bumper has a dent at the bottom, and seems to have popped off the fender a bit. The glass on the car looks great and is heavily tinted. The navigation system and dashboard come to life when you hook up a battery. The display indicates a number of errors due to flooded sensors or equipment throughout the car. The Harmon Kardon stereo system still sounds absolutely amazing. The heads up display appears to be functional. As expected, the electrical system acts a bit funky and certain things don't work or work intermittently. I purchased this car for use as a project car, but unfortunately I have been too busy with work and other projects. Some redeeming qualities of this 2010 Saab 9-5 Aero:
If you decide to part the car out, the Aero body parts will be a quick sale for you. The HUD windshield is no longer available from Saab. The adaptive HID headlights are usually $1000 each from the dealer. The 19" wheels and tires are in pretty good shape. Please note that the car comes with a Florida Certificate of Destruction. You may or may not be able to register the car for road use, depending on your state (or country). You will receive the certificate of destruction and a copy of the bill of sale.
Condition: Flood vehicle. Sold as-is for parts. Includes Florida Certificate of Destruction. May not be able to be titled in your state. Please email with any questions! |

Saab's never-was 9-3 gets a few better looks
Sat, 23 Mar 2013The recent glimpses we've been getting of the never-was Saab 9-3 Phoenix must be like rubbing salt on the wounds of all the Saab fans out there. If that's the case, diehard Saab enthusiasts might want to look away from this. SaabWorld has uncovered a handful of shots of what was to be the next-generation 9-3 hatchback, and boy does it look sharp.
Revealing a clearer look at what we previously saw in grainy images or as a full-scale model, these new pictures show what Jason Castriota had in mind for the new car. The front end is obviously inspired by Saab's Phoenix Concept, while the rear of the car pays homage to the Saab 900 hatchback.
We like the overall look. Let us know what you think in the Comments.
GM denies Spyker claims in $3B Saab lawsuit
Tue, 02 Oct 2012Reuters reports General Motors has dismissed claims by Spyker outlined in a $3 billion lawsuit. Spyker alleged GM deliberately bankrupted Saab by preventing a deal with Chinese investor Zhejiang Youngman Lotus. GM, meanwhile, filed a response with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan saying that as the former owner of Saab, GM had the legal right to approve the deal with Youngman. But Spyker's lawsuit claimed GM's refusal to approve the deal with Youngman stemmed from the fact that the American automaker didn't want to create a competitor in China.
GM has said the issue stemmed more from the fact that it would stop licensing its technology to Saab or stop building vehicles for the manufacturer in the event it was bought by Youngman. Since Saab built its own platform that didn't use any GM tech, Spyker says that argument is meritless.
The lawsuit has Spyker seeking $3 billion in compensatory damages, though that number could swell with interest, punitive damages and legal fees, as well. Victor Muller, Spyker chief executive, has said the lawsuit is being funded by an anonymous third party. That party will share in any settlement. Youngman has refused to comment on whether or not it's footing the legal bill.
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
