Thank you for taking the time to read this; We are the third owner. The first owner, CarFax shows this car was leased. The second owner is a professional that wanted to start a larger family and traded for a new Chrysler Town & Country. I have always wanted one of these and when I saw how nice this car was I bought it immediately. I drove to Illinois and after a test drive I loaded it on my trailer. The first thing we did was take it to Strong performance in Brownsburg, Indiana.
I had the owner go completely through this car and try to find any problems. The dealer claimed a $800+ service. LOL ! Bologna. They replaced the front brakes with junk.
So we did the complete 60,000 mile service with extras. The brakes were replaced with very rare hard to find drilled and slotted rotors front and rear (extra NIB set included), including media cleaning the calipers and painting them red with high temp caliper paint. Rare because the 9 5's brakes are huge. Installation of ceramic pads too. Complete front end inspection; perfect. The following was done. ALL NEW; Goodyear Gatorback  serpentine belt (the original was cleaned and saved in the trunk), NGK Iridium plugs, radiator flush including new thermostat, new real Anti-freeze not 50/50!, K&N Air Filter, new cabin air filter, the tires were literally brand new when we got the car they are top of the line Goodyear Assurance 235/45R/17 (they sell for $188 each on TireRack.com), new Mobil 1 oil change with Bosch filter (extra Bosch filters come with the car), Bosch windshield wiper blades, trans service. When the car was done we had the windows professionally tinted.
When we got the car home I did a real detail; Cleaned the engine bay & painted a couple of  aluminum pieces that were tarnished. Look at the pictures. I then clay barred the whole car. Then I hand polished the paint & finished it off with "Pro Wax" Carnauba & Co-Polymer blend wax. There has been no accidents, smoking. The car is used but it is very nice. Since we have put on about 5000 miles the car it's due for another Mobil 1 service. It will be done before the car leaves when sold.  We are relocating and this car is simply not needed. We are replacing it with a full size van/truck for our company.
We are pricing this car at more than fair market value; NADA says "Clean" is $10,350 PLUS $2000 = $12,350 for the LOW miles. NADA says "Average" is $7850 PLUS $2000 = $9850 for the LOW miles. So you want to save some money and get a extremely reliable car this is it that comes complete with an extraordinarily rare original Dealer Showroom Brochure and Service Manual on DVD and you don't mind a used car to save a bunch of money then here you go..... ! There is no rust ! We spent over $1200 on the 60,000 service ! Do dealer and most people never do it because it costs to much. Its obvious that this car has never been abused, look at the pictures. We love it ! It is right at home at the Golf Course & County Club ! And tuff enough to park next to our horses.... These cars are so over built ! Just like Mercedes', BMWs, Jaguar.... 2 working key fob remotes and owner's manual included.
Gas Mileage; I am 60+ and easily get 28 MPG & My better half gets closer to 30 MPG !
Every single item on this car works perfectly as it should. It is fully loaded with all the power options plus "3" Person Memory. The stereo is incredible and puts our other GM Bose systems to shame. The local GM dealer say it is a Harmon Kardon, I'm really not sure though. We have shown this 9 5 next to our Camaro Yenko Tribute Car Show(s) winner and it has also won trophies ! This car is beautiful ! And gets many compliments ! We have an engineer friend that has had numerous Saab 9 3s & 9 5s, they drive them to 200,000 miles and then sell them for the first $1500.
Personally this was to be our retirement car but that is not going to happen for another 5 years thanks to; you know who.
This car is extremely safe and has one of the highest ratings on the market. It is a pure joy to drive with it's 260 HP Turbocharged DOHC engine. No weird sounds, it runs extremely strong. For more enjoyment there are paddle shifters and you can put it in the "Sport" Driving mode for even more excitement. We have had Corvettes, Jags, Camaro Z28s & SS models, Trans Ams almost 100 vehicles and this 9 5 hauls the mail very well ! The turbo gives you 260 HP but the 2.3 4 cylinder is great on gas !

This virtually new, very last Saab 9-3 could be yours

Mon, Oct 7 2019

The date is October 7, 2019, and it is currently possible to buy a virtually new 2014 Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo4. Spiking the car's rarity is the fact that this specific vehicle is said to be the last Saab to roll off the production line in Trollhattan, Sweden. Driven only 41 miles, chassis No. YTNFD4AZXE1100257 is a true piece of Swedish automotive history, and it's set for auction this month. We first got word of this car back in June 2019, and the time has finally come for this Saab to be sold. As previously reported, this vehicle is from the National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) era. The seller, Bilweb Auctions, says it is the last Saab to come off the manufacturing line, and it was reportedly set aside for crash testing. The testing never occurred, and the sedan, one of only 420 built, survived. The seller says the mileage comes from running the car on the test track next to the old plant for photography and videography purposes.  This 9-3 Aero uses a Ecotec 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 217 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It has immaculate Diamond Silver paint and matching silver turbine wheels. Inside, there is a two-tone interior with cream leather seats, a black dashboard, and black accents. According to Autocar, the proceeds of the auction will go to NEVS' Sustainable Mobility Scholarship at University West in Sweden. Bidding on the car opens soon, and interested parties can sign up to be alerted when the auction starts.   Auto News Auctions Saab Sedan

What would you drive in 1985?

Wed, May 6 2020

Bereft of live baseball games to watch, I've turned to the good ship YouTube to watch classic games. While watching the 1985 American League Championship Series last night, several of the broadcast's commercials made its way into the original VHS recording, including those for cars. "Only 8.8% financing on a 1985 Ford Tempo!" What a deal! That got me thinking: what would I drive in 1985?  It sure wouldn't be a Tempo. Or an IROC-Z, for that matter, despite what my Photoshopped 1980s self would indicate in the picture above. I posed this question to my fellow Autobloggists. Only one could actually drive back then, I was only 2 and a few editors weren't even close to being born. Here are our choices, which were simply made with the edict of "Come on, man, be realistic."  West Coast Editor James Riswick: OK, I started this, I'll go first. I like coupes today, so I'm pretty sure I'd drive one back then. I definitely don't see myself driving some badge-engineered GM thing from 1985, and although a Honda Prelude has a certain appeal, I must admit that something European would likely be in order. A BMW maybe? No, I'm too much a contrarian for that. The answer is therefore a 1985 Saab 900 Turbo 3-Door, which is not only a coupe but a hatchback, too. If I could scrounge up enough Reagan-era bucks for the ultra-cool SPG model, that would be rad. The 900 Turbo pictured, which was for auction on Bring a Trailer a few years ago, came with plum-colored Bokhara Red, and you're damn sure I would've had me one of those. Nevermind 1985, I'd probably drive this thing today.   Associate Editor Byron Hurd: I'm going to go with the 1985.5 Ford Mustang SVO, AKA the turbocharged Fox Body that everybody remembers but nobody drives. The mid-year update to the SVO bumped the power up from 175 ponies (yeah, yeah) to 205, making it almost as powerful (on paper, anyway) as the V8-powered GT models offered in the same time frame. I chose this particular car because it's a bit of a time capsule and, simultaneously, a reminder that all things are cyclical. Here we are, 35 years later, and 2.3-liter turbocharged Mustangs are a thing again. Who would have guessed?

Junkyard Gem: 1986 Saab 900 Turbo

Fri, May 31 2019

The Saab 900 sold well in Colorado, and owners of these cars tend to hang onto them for decades. For those reasons, I still find 900s while making my rounds of the self-service wrecking yards in the Denver region. The turbocharged models tended to fail more quickly than their naturally-aspirated counterparts, though, so the 900 Turbo can be tough to find today. Here's a 1986 that took its final tow-truck ride into a Denver yard a couple of months back. The 900 received a makeover for the 1987 model year, so today's Junkyard Gem comes from the final year of the 900 with the endearingly 1960s face derived from its 99 predecessor. Most of these cars didn't chug along for quite as many miles as their Volvo 240 countrymen, but that may be attributable more to the differences in driving style between Volvo and Saab owners. The word TURBO had magical connotations during the 1980s, and so most turbocharged cars of the era boasted big, obvious badging. Red car interiors were all the rage during the 1980s and 1990s. Try to imagine the vivid bordellitude of this upholstery before it faded beneath the blazing Colorado sun. Was it a runner when it arrived here? We'll never know. Born from jets, sure, though the original Saab jet was known as "the Flying Barrel" and wasn't especially graceful-looking.
