We are selling our 2001 Saab 9-5 SE Wagon as i will be inheriting my wife's Volvo.  I have used this car for a long work commute for the last year and it has performed perfectly.  We purchased it in October of 2012 with 120,000 miles on it.  Prior to my ownership it had two Colorado owners both of whom garaged the car. At 120,000 miles,  when we purchased it, I installed a new throttle body, new front brake rotors and pads, new swaybar end links links and new Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires. In addition, all of the other routine maintenance items were addressed such a flluids changed, etc. Every 5000 miles we change the oil with Mobil 1 synthetic oil.  At 140,000 miles it developed a whining sound which turned out to be the alternator. So we replaced the alternator as well as the serpentine belt. The timing belt and water pump were replaced by the previous owner at 105,000 miles so this car will be due to have the timing belt replaced in about 20,000 miles at 165,000 miles.

ITEMS OF NOTE

3.0L Turbo engine- in 80% interstate and 20% city driving I typically average 26-27 miles to the gallon. The most fun to drive up I-70 I have every driven.

Leather heated front and rear seats-  all seat heaters working properly

Traction control- works amazingly well.  My commute includes some mountain driving and I never felt like I needed all wheel drive.

Onstar system works properly with the antenna in tact. I am not a subscriber, but you could be it you chose to.

All pixels on the center display work properly as does the temperature, trip computer, average miles per gallon, etc.

Front and side air bags for the front seats.

The rear hatch does not support itself currently.  I have a replacement strut to swap in but have not spent the time to repair this item.

Half of the time on start up the system displays " Service Security System." Apparently, there is a rechargeable battery in the security system in case your main battery is disconnected or dead.  After years of use this will get low on charge and need to be replaced.  I priced this part and decided I could live with hitting CLEAR on the display occasionally as it does not effect the security system or the reliability of the car.

There is a slight coolant leak somewhere in the left front part of the engine bay. It does not drip and there is not a coolant odor however,  I have to top off the coolant about once per oil change.  It has been such a minor issue that I have not taken more time to address it.

The sunroof works properly, however, there is a clip on the wind screen the occasionally will pop up and get caught when closing.  I have not repaired this as I usually use it in flip up vent mode and it works just fine.

There are some wear spots on the driver's seat leather and some slight cracking on the front passenger seat leather.

This wagon has always been a Colorado car and has the rock chips in the hood to prove it. However,  as with all Colorado cars there is not any rust.

When I purchased the wagon, the front bumper valance had been split and the fog lights were both broken.  I have not taken the time to repair the valence other  than to use Gorilla Tape to hold the pieces together.  I replaced the existing fog lights with fillers from genuine SAAB parts and added a pair of  Hella 500FF for my mountain commuting.  These are wired into the factory switch and work very well.  I also think they give this SAAB a unique look.

The body is very straight given the age and mileage.  The only significant scratch is on the rear bumper on the passenger side that was there when we bought it.  When we purchased the wagon, I took it to my local paintless dent removal shop to have the few dings taken out.  You will be amazed at how straight this body is. The paint shines nicely- a result of many years of being kept in the garage.

The original spare tire has never been used. The original luggage net is in the rear compartment still in the original bag.

I have both keys with the built in key fob and the owner's manual.

Clear Colorado title in hand.

I welcome anyone who would like to come take a look and drive the car prior to bidding.

3 former Saab execs charged with tax evasion

Mon, 20 May 2013

The Associated Press reports three former Saab executives have been arrested on charges of accounting fraud. Swedish prosecutor Olof Sahlgren has refused to identify the individuals, but says they're suspected of attempting to evade taxes by falsifying Saab accounts between 2010 and 2011 during the Spyker years. Other reports indicate the parties involved include former General Counsel to Saab Kristina Geers (seen to the left of former CEO Victor Muller, above), a 15-year-veteran of the company - her husband, Eric, was the company's communications director for 9 years as well.
Saab filed for bankruptcy in 2011, and was purchased shortly thereafter by National Electric Vehicle Sweden. If convicted, the trio could face up to four years in prison for their crimes under Swedish law.

NEVS announces 200 layoffs as it says Saab restart will 'take time'

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

For a fleeting moment a few weeks ago, the news from Saab-owner National Electric Vehicle Sweden appeared almost positive. The company had its reorganization plan approved (a day after it was denied), and the automaker was actually showing a real, running vehicle, albeit one with a top speed of 75 miles per hour. But those tiny crumbs of potential goodness have been swept away because NEVS has announced layoffs of as many as 200 factory employees in September "due to lack of work."
Workers probably shouldn't get too eager to return to the factory either, because company's "decision to re-start production will be further delayed" by an unspecified amount of time, NEVS says in a press release. To begin assembling cars again, the company needs to find long-term funding and a new majority owner. Those seem like two very steep hurdles for the embattled automaker to clear.
Despite not producing cars since May, NEVS still claims it's negotiating with a new owner, possibly Mahindra, but according to Reuters, the Swedish company owes about 400 million kronor ($56 million) to creditors. According to its layoff announcement, getting rid of these workers is one step in the business' reorganization plan to be presented on October 8. Scroll down to read its full release.

NEVS, the company that took over Saab, gets new majority owner

Wed, Jan 16 2019

Chinese real estate conglomerate Evergrande Group, a key investor behind troubled electric vehicle startup Faraday Future, has acquired a 51 percent stake in NEVS. That's the Chinese-backed Swedish electric vehicle company that purchased the assets of Saab out of bankruptcy in 2012. The investment by subsidiary Evergrande Health Industry Group was valued at the equivalent of $930 million and is expected to help NEVS develop new EVs. Evergrande said it paid the first installment of $430 million on Jan. 15, with the remainder due by the end of the month. The remaining 49 percent stake is controlled by a holding company controlled by NEVS founder Kai Johan Jiang. "It means that NEVS will get a financial (sic) strong main owner who is very interested in developing our vision about green mobility transport solutions for the future," NEVS CEO Stefan Tilk said in a statement. NEVS, short for National Electric Vehicle Sweden, owns production facilities in Trollhattan, Sweden, and Tianjin, China, with another under construction in Shanghai. In late 2017 the company launched what apparently was limited production of the 9-3 EV, an electric vehicle based — you guessed it — on the old Saab 9-3 platform. The company now says it will be built in Tianjin starting later this year, with components coming from Trollhattan. It boasts a 186-mile range, in-car WiFi and a cabin air filter for the notoriously smoggy Chinese air. It also showed a battery-electric 9-3X concept at CES Asia in 2017, which is likely to be its next model pegged for production. The South China Morning Post, citing local media reports, says two of NEVS' models meet the standards for mass production in China. This content is hosted by a third party. Evergrande Health first came to Faraday Future's rescue back in 2017 with a promised $2 billion investment, but the two sides later went into arbitration in Hong Kong over a dispute about money following the first infusion of $800 million, leading the automaker to cut staff and wages last year, casting the future of FF into doubt. At the end of 2018, Faraday announced it had entered into a new restructuring agreement with an Evergrande Health subsidiary that sees them end litigation and jettison the previous investment agreement, taking Evergrande's investment in the company to 32 percent.
