1999 Saab 9-5 2.3l Turbo Automatic on 2040-cars
West Palm Beach, Florida, United States
I have for sale a very nice 1999 Saab 9-5 2.3L turbo. Please check the pictures! Clear Florida Title.
I got the car from one of my customers. It had a blown head gasket. Cylinder head was removed and sent to machine shop to check for cracks, resurface, re seat the valves and change all valve seals. New OEM head gasket was installed (metal gasket) with copper seal, new head bolts, thermostat and gasket, valve cover gasket, spark plugs, fresh oil change, crank sensor, new coolant and I also flushed the transmission fluid. Compression test showed 190 psi on all 4 cylinders. So engine is like new.Car runs and drives very good. Super cold a/c. Lot's of power when you put the transmission on sport mode! I increased the boost a couple of points so the car is very responsive but still very economical with the 2.3L engine. Nice 4 door sedan with a huge trunk. Mileage is 160K but this is a SAAB with major maintenance done so you will drive it for a long time without any problems. There is a crack on the front windshield, cracked passenger rear tail light (I already ordered one on Ebay),rear bumper with scratches, rear passenger air vent missing on right side. I think I've described the car as best as I can. By no means this is a new car but it sure is above average of what is out there. A $500 non refundable down payment no later then 2 days after auction ends. Paypal ok for deposit, balance in person, CASH ONLY. Buyer is responsible for shipping. Look at my other auctions!! Thank you; HW |

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
First test drive shows promise of Saab 9-3 EV
Tue, Sep 16 2014We can't read Swedish, so when it comes to a first-drive review of a Saab 9-3 electric-vehicle prototype, we'll trust Inside EVs' translation of a write-up from Swedish automotive publication Elbilen i Sverige. And it's a decent one. The write-up, that is. The translation, too, we hope. Taken to the test track, the Saab was found to be quieter than a Tesla Model S and had the stability commensurate for a car that tipped the scales at about 4,000 pounds. The sedan accelerated from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 10 seconds, though the goal is to bring that time down to 8.5 seconds. The prototype also uses a 37-kWh prototype battery made by China-based Kai Johan Jiang Annual National Modern Energy Holdings that should be good for over 180 miles (and there's room for a bigger pack in the car, apparently). The 9-3's electric motor will be able to deliver 200 horsepower but, for testing purposes, it was limited to about 140 horsepower. The overall impression was that the car is not yet ready for prime time, but has a lot of promise. When prototype becomes production is the real question, given the financial condition of Saab parent National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS). The company acquired the brand in 2012 and started making cars at Saab's Trollhattan plant in Sweden last year, but production stopped in May because of cash-flow issues. Late last month, Swedish courts denied NEVS protection from its creditors, so the company is now looking to restructure.
Saab 9-3 production to start in China in 2013 [UPDATE]
Thu, 17 Jan 2013We knew that National Electric Vehicle Sweden planned to restart production of the last-gen Saab 9-3 at some point in the future, we just didn't know exactly when, or exactly where. As it turns out, the answers to those questions are soon, and China.
Though NEVS had initially said it will build vehicles in Sweden before shipping them to China, the latest report from Autocar suggests that the cars will instead be built right in Quingdao starting later in 2013. That's right, this calendar year. Also on the docket is a followup electric version of the 9-3, which is slated to come to market in 2014 in an effort to satiate China's wish that there be half a million EVs silently filling its streets within the next two years.
NEVS wants to be part of the EV solution, but it's not going to be easy. Naturally, if these cars are to be built in China, a factory has to be located or built, tooling needs to be in place, workers need to be hired and trained and a lengthy trail of paperwork has to be signed off by the government before even the well-known gasoline-powered 9-3 can be a reality, let along the unknown quantity that is the 9-3 ePower.
