I've decided to sell my Saab 9-3 Turbo Convertible - I really like this car, very cheap on gas and has a lot of extra features that normally only come with the more expensive imports, but it was fun while it lasted.
Some highlights for the car:
- Only has 104K miles on it; exceptionally low for a 1999
- Nice leather interior, no rips or tears or separated seams
- Heated power seats w/Memory Recall work great
- Hardtop boot cover for convertible top works perfect, goes up and down just fine and looks much better than an exposed top
- Digital Climate control system works
- Dash is not sun damaged like a lot of Verts - very good condition
- Radio and driver information controls work great, no issues or problems
- Locking rear folding seats for security when the top is down
- Interior is kept nice and clean, and I don't use that greasy spray stuff that's get all over your hands either, I just wipe it down with a microfiber towel to keep dust to a minimum
- Exterior is in good shape, has some normal dents and dings around it (one of my pic.s is of the hood and shows a couple of small dings, sort of hard to tell though)but nothing you wouldn't expect - no smashed panels or anything. It does have some scratches on the front bumper corner which can be seen in one of my pictures
Here is a small list of items that have recently been done for the car:
- Tires replaced at 101,600 miles (new tires are Falken, have less than 3K miles on them)
- New shocks & struts
- New air filter
- New air filter heat shield
- Replaced Shifter assembly and shifter rod
- Fresh oil change
- Replaced battery with nice Interstate battery
- New top was professionally installed and works fine, no stalling or whiney slow movement
- New Fuel filter and fuel pump
- Steering wheel controls where replaced
- Replaced muffler - exhaust started sounding a little loud so I had it replaced, remaining exhaust system is intact and in good condition
The car start right up, engine runs really good (as it should, these engines where built very strong until GM took over around 2002-03). Most all of the electronics work very well with the exception of the following:
- Power antenna doesn't go up
- A/C doesn't blow cold (I tried it again this afternoon at around 85 degrees and it's not blowing cold air, condenser kicks on and cycles just fine but air doesn't get cold)
- Power mirrors work sometimes, but I think the contacts are dirty because sometimes they work flawless and sometimes they don't move
Now the bad part...
There are no mechanic shops around where I live that want to work on a Saab (very rural area) and the car is stuck in 3rd gear. So now I'm stuck with a nice older car that I can't get out of gear and no one around to help fix it. I don't really have any options other than to sell it and take a beating on the price. You can wiggle the shift knob and it moves around freely, but there is something wrong with it and I have no idea how to fix it. Might be a cheap fix and someone can make some money on the car, I don't know and I've already bought another toy so I need this one sold.
I can help arrange shipping and help load the car on the trailer, it's not a big deal to me - just let me know. Buyer will be responsible for all shipping expense though. I also have the car for sale locally.
Let me know if you have any questions; I have the reserve set way below KBB/NADA average book value and I have title in-hand so the car will sell, thanks.

NEVS, the company that took over Saab, gets new majority owner
Wed, Jan 16 2019Chinese real estate conglomerate Evergrande Group, a key investor behind troubled electric vehicle startup Faraday Future, has acquired a 51 percent stake in NEVS. That's the Chinese-backed Swedish electric vehicle company that purchased the assets of Saab out of bankruptcy in 2012. The investment by subsidiary Evergrande Health Industry Group was valued at the equivalent of $930 million and is expected to help NEVS develop new EVs. Evergrande said it paid the first installment of $430 million on Jan. 15, with the remainder due by the end of the month. The remaining 49 percent stake is controlled by a holding company controlled by NEVS founder Kai Johan Jiang. "It means that NEVS will get a financial (sic) strong main owner who is very interested in developing our vision about green mobility transport solutions for the future," NEVS CEO Stefan Tilk said in a statement. NEVS, short for National Electric Vehicle Sweden, owns production facilities in Trollhattan, Sweden, and Tianjin, China, with another under construction in Shanghai. In late 2017 the company launched what apparently was limited production of the 9-3 EV, an electric vehicle based — you guessed it — on the old Saab 9-3 platform. The company now says it will be built in Tianjin starting later this year, with components coming from Trollhattan. It boasts a 186-mile range, in-car WiFi and a cabin air filter for the notoriously smoggy Chinese air. It also showed a battery-electric 9-3X concept at CES Asia in 2017, which is likely to be its next model pegged for production. The South China Morning Post, citing local media reports, says two of NEVS' models meet the standards for mass production in China. This content is hosted by a third party. Evergrande Health first came to Faraday Future's rescue back in 2017 with a promised $2 billion investment, but the two sides later went into arbitration in Hong Kong over a dispute about money following the first infusion of $800 million, leading the automaker to cut staff and wages last year, casting the future of FF into doubt. At the end of 2018, Faraday announced it had entered into a new restructuring agreement with an Evergrande Health subsidiary that sees them end litigation and jettison the previous investment agreement, taking Evergrande's investment in the company to 32 percent.
GM recalls 500K Chevy Camaros for ignition-switch defect
Fri, 13 Jun 2014General Motors issued a recall for more than a half million Chevrolet Camaros on Friday morning because of an ignition-switch safety hazard that mirrors the one at the center of the company's current crisis.
The problem affects Camaro models from the 2010 to 2014 model years. Approximately 464,712 cars are impacted in the United States, and 511,528 overall in North America. GM will alter the Camaro key to a more standard design, and will notify car owners with a recall notice in the mail.
In an announcement, the company said the ignition switches on the Camaros are fundamentally different parts than the older ignition switches found on defective cars that are responsible for killing at least 13 people and causing 54 crashes.
Son Surprises Mom With Dream Car
Thu, Aug 14 2014We can't get enough of these dream car-reveals. Here's the latest one: A son wanted to treat his mom to the car she's had her eye on for years, but it wasn't a restored Porsche or a fancy 1957 Chevy Bel Air. This mom wanted something special – a 1973 Saab 99 EMS painted disco-fever copper. Ever since he was a kid, Corey Wadden's mom has wanted the Saab. Wadden writes on his YouTube video that she first hopped in the driver's seat of one of these odd retro rides while working as a cleaning lady. One of her clients would toss her the keys and let her move the car. She fell in love. After a year of searching and saving, this nominee for best son in the world brought his mom down to the parking lot, where her dream ride awaited. First, he handed her an envelope with a picture of the car and the keys, a dead giveaway. She quickly put two and two together, and lost it before making it to the parking lot. She is so happy and full of gratitude that she actually drops to her knees when he opens the door. Wadden writes on his page that his mom lost her job two-and-a-half years ago and hasn't had a reliable car in years. This car aims not just to get her mobile again, but lift her spirits. It's also part of the Toronto entrepreneur's promise to become a millionaire by the time he is 25 to help his mother retire.
