Rolls-royce Silver Spur on 2040-cars
Tampa, Florida, United States
|
1989 Rolls-royce silver spur. The bad: the vinyl top is split, there is a small tear in the driver's seat, there are some small rust bubbles bellow the back window, the windows don't work, and the antilock warning light frequently comes on, but the brakes work just fine. There is also a tiny dent on the right front, in front of the hood(see pic). This car needs to be driven, and I just don't drive it often enough. The good: I have put 4 new tires on it. This car being so low mileage for it's age had quite a bit of dry rot on the tires. The paint shines well. I don't know that it has been repainted, but I think it is likely. The AC works well, although you have no direct control, it has automatic climate control. In the hot Florida sun it takes a while to cool the car down. The interior wood is in excellent condition. I have been told that this is because of the windows being tinted. The car can be a blast to drive, but I just don't drive it enough to justify keeping it. It has a newer Sony radio/CD player that has bluetooth for your cell phone. This car, being as quiet as it is, nobody even knows when I am driving. Any questions, or you want a pic of something just ask.

Rolls-Royce Phantom celebrates decade of decadence
Fri, 04 Jan 2013Ten years ago, Rolls-Royce opened its Goodwood manufacturing facility and handed over the keys to the very first Phantom. Back then, parent company BMW was cranking out Phantom sedans at the blistering pace of one unit per day. By the end of 2003, that number had tripled, and today, the Goodwood plant builds a total of 20 Phantoms in sedan, coupe, drophead and extended-wheelbase models during a single day's working hours. Originally, there were fewer than 400 workers on staff responsible for hand-building the big cruisers, but now the plant boasts over 1,400 craftsmen, with 100 of those positions added in 2012 alone.
Rolls-Royce boasts one of the lowest staff turnover rates of any brand in the industry, thanks in part to a successful apprenticeship and internship program, and the company notes 80 percent of its workers live within 15 miles of the facility. You can read the full press release on the 10th anniversary of both the Phantom and the Goodwood plant below.
Latest Rolls-Royce Wraith teaser reveals fastback form
Tue, 26 Feb 2013In its fourth and final teaser before the 2014 Wraith is introduced next week, Rolls-Royce has released another image of the car showing a distinct fastback appearance. We've seen this car teased in its profile before, but that image had a heavy shadow over the rear of the car obscuring what should be the Wraith's defining element.
Rolls-Royce motorcars aren't exactly known for having overtly sporty proportions, but this could all change with the Wraith's styling. Judging by the teased drawing and official words from Rolls-Royce, the coupe's roofline will flow practically in a straight line from the A-pillar back to the rear of the car. With such a design, the Wraith could well become one of the world's most elegant and expensive hatchbacks, though it may also have a conventional hinged trunk opening.
Over the last month, we've also seen a rear shot of the car as well as glimpse of what the interior has in store, but the two images showing the car's profile give us our best idea of what to expect when the car is unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. Until then, you can check out our winter testing spy shots and read a brief quote from Rolls-Royce design director Giles Taylor in the press release posted below.
