1989 Rolls-royce Silver Spur 55k Miles. Nice Car. Ready To Be Driven And Enjoyed on 2040-cars
Fresno, California, United States
1989 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur.
Here is a nice Rolls that can be enjoyed. It runs and drives well, brakes well, has recently passed smog. The power seats/windows/mirrors/horn/courtesy lights and door locks work. All the gauges and dials work, and the warning/status-lights panel works correctly. The heating and air-conditioning also work. The original interior including the leather has held up very well, wood is overall very good...there is some laquer peeling on the drivers door and some light cracks in other areas (a common issue on all of these cars). It has it's original owner handbooks, there are a couple of dealer service stamps in it at around 25k miles, the car has a clean Carfax report with some dealer service notes at around 50k miles, otherwise we do not have any service history. However, I have had the pleasure of putting around 500 miles on the car over the last couple of months (mix of freeway and in-town driving) and would feel confident using the car regularly. The tires have around 80% tread left. The vinyl top/glass and trim is in good condition. The paint does not look original.....6-10ft quality. There is a parking lot ding on one door (see pics), otherwise just some small nicks/scratches from normal wear. The paint on the trunk does have some bird dropping stains and looks to have been buffed to try and get them out...so the paint is a little flat. However, the color of the car masks most of the imperfections. Having owned over a dozen Rolls/Bentleys over the years and being exposed to their strengths and weaknesses, I feel confident that this car will give good service to the next owner. **NOTE** - Due to multiple problems with non-paying zero/-ve feedback ebayers, we will only accept bids from zero or excessive -ve feedback ebayers after they have contacted us first. Otherwise, such bids will not be accepted. If you have any questions other than "what's the reserve/buy it now price", you are welcome to contact us through ebay or call my cell #559-801-8623. I will be available 10am-5pm Pacific/California time. The vehicle is sold as-is and as equipped. However, you are welcome to come see and/or have the car inspected before the end of the sale. Payment is due in full within seven days of the end of the auction. All California buyers and in-state sales/delivery are subject to sales tax, doc./smog/lic. fees. Living Life Large: Driving $2 million worth of cars in one week
Mon, Aug 24 2015Monterey Car Week has quickly become one of my favorite events of the year. There's something for everyone – classic car shows, modern concepts and new vehicle debuts, auctions, racing, and so much more. From a media perspective, there's also a chance to drive a ton of cars. Many automakers bring their latest wares out to Monterey for us to test during our limited free time, and it's a great opportunity to experience fantastic metal against a gorgeous backdrop. That's exactly what I did this year. Instead of flying into Monterey and being driven around, my journey started in Los Angeles and ended in Napa, and I managed to get behind the wheel of some $2 million worth of new cars. Some were old favorites, and many were new experiences. But looking back, this was one of the best weeks of driving I've had in years. Rather than try to come up with some common arc to tie these cars together, here are my notes on all the cars I tested in California earlier this month, presented in the order in which they were driven. 2016 Mazda CX-3 The CX-3 pictured here isn't the exact one I drove in California, but it's close. The only difference was color – my delivered-to-LAX tester wore Mazda's awesome new Ceramic hue (pictured below on the MX-5 Miata). I used the CX-3 to slum through crummy Los Angeles traffic for two hours on the way out to Santa Barbara, with a quick stop at In-N-Out Burger on the way for good measure. A lot nicer inside than I remember. Everyone praises Mazda for its excellence in engineering and design, but there's a lot to be said for the improvements in overall interior refinement. Quiet, comfortable, and well-equipped; the CX-3 made sitting on the 405 freeway a lot more pleasant. Not all that functional. I had a hard time fitting a week's worth of luggage for two people inside. The cargo area and rear passenger compartment were filled, with only enough room on top to see out the back window. A Honda HR-V would've swallowed all that luggage with plenty of room for more. So good to drive. Not surprising, since this wasn't my first time in the CX-3. I knew this CUV would be good on twisty roads, but on the highway it's really exceptional. Road and wind noise are minimal and the overall ride quality is a comfortable sort of sporty. This is definitely something I could drive every day – it's enjoyable during commuting and entertaining on more interesting roads.

Rolls-Royce reveals Year of the Dragon-themed customer commissions
Fri, Feb 2 2024Most buyers who order a new Rolls-Royce customize it through the brand's Bespoke department, and four recently requested a car inspired by the Year of the Dragon, which starts on February 10 in China. The company is highlighting the meticulous design changes it made. The batch of four Lunar New Year-themed cars is split into three units of the Phantom Extended and one example of the Cullinan. And, surprisingly, not all of them are headed to the Chinese market; Rolls-Royce says that the orders came from three different continents. Its designers started by creating a dragon logo specifically for the four builds. It's hand-stitched or hand-painted depending on the application. Red has historically been associated with the Year of the Dragon, it represents prosperity and good fortune in Chinese culture, and it defines the look given to three of the four cars (the fourth hasn't been unveiled yet). One of the Phantom Extended models is finished in a two-tone Cherry Red and silver livery with hand-painted Phoenix Red pinstripes and the dragon logo on each fender. The Cullinan is finished in Selby Gray and Cherry Red with white pinstripes and logos, while the second Phantom is black with Phoenix Red pinstripes and no dragon logos. Painting the dragon logo that appears on the dashboard in three of the four cars is a complex, multi-step process that takes over two weeks. Rolls-Royce notes that the logo is the work of one artist who overlays multiple shades of red in four individual stages to achieve a 3D effect. Look up and you'll see another dragon; it's in the Starlight headliner. It consists of 677 stars that shine to create a dragon's shape and an additional 667 stars spread out across the panel. Designing this headliner took over three months and making it requires over 20 hours. There's no word yet on how much Rolls-Royce charged for each commission, but we're guessing price wasn't a concern. Related video:
