1991 Rolls Royce Silver Spur Ii on 2040-cars
Beverly Hills, California, United States
|
For sale is a 1991 Rolls Royce Silver Spur II with less than 51,000 original miles. This gorgeous motor car is finished in Magnolia White with matching Magnolia White Connolly leather interior. I am the second owner of this vehicle, and this Rolls has spent it's entire life in sunny climates. The previous owner (who was a collector) garaged the car in Naples, Florida, where it spent the bulk of it's charmed life. The car now resides in Beverly Hills, California. I have owned the car for a mere 18 months, and sadly I must part with it. The Rolls is my daily driver, and my work now takes me all over southern California... so I hate to put unnecessary mileage on the car. And let's face it, while the Rolls is certainly luxurious and a dream to drive, it isn't known for fuel efficiency.
The Silver Spur is the extended version of the Silver Spirit, having a 4" longer wheel-base. The Spur also features fold-down picnic tables, carpeted foot rests and power reclining rear passenger seats. The seating is upholstered in supple Connolly leather hides in immaculate condition, only the driver's seat and armrest show minor wear. The floors are carpeted in pristine wool Wilton carpet, and include the original shearling over-carpets. The dash, door panels and vanity mirrors are all trimmed with burl walnut veneers, with holly inlays. The tool kit is original and intact, and even has the white cotton gloves still in the plastic! The car comes equipped with the original Motorola cellular phone hidden in the armrest! The car has been a pleasure to drive and has never let me down. In Los Angeles where seemingly everybody drives an expensive car, I still get stares as I glide down the palm tree lined streets. COSMETICS: The paint is gorgeous and has a rich, glossy color, only showing a few minor blemishes (see photos). For the most part, these small chips are no larger than the tip of a pencil. There is one very small chip in the wood veneer on the front passenger window sill. The Everflex roof is in very good condition, but would benefit from a thorough cleaning. The leather interior is near perfect, with only the driver's seat showing minor wear. The carpets are also in near perfect condition. The shearling mats could use a cleaning, but I hesitate doing so myself because I don't want to strip out the natural lanolin. THIS IS A NON-SMOKING VEHICLE. ENGINE & MECHANICS: The car starts, runs, shifts, brakes as it should. It is completely reliable. Driving this Rolls will surely bring a smile to your face as it has done for me. The auto-ride suspension tames the roughest of road surfaces, the transmission shifts as smooth as silk, the steering and braking are tuned for a three-ton luxury vehicle and work properly. The tires have plenty of life left in them. There are few electrical issues which need to be addressed: Power door locks currently not working (probably a fuse); a short which causes the "auto ride" warning light to come on (this is intermittent, and the light goes out shortly after it comes on, the auto ride functions work properly); window regulator for driver's door not working properly, window goes up very slowly; passenger power seat partially works (four out of six functions operate). I have all the service records for the vehicle, including a recent $5,000 + service which included removing the engine and replacing the crankshaft seal, transmission seal, valve cover gaskets, rear left engine mount, etc. The Rolls has been meticulously maintained and always garage kept. This Rolls Royce Silver Spur II is a solid car; low-mileage, beautifully maintained, with many years of life left in her. I'm sad to see her go, but I can only have garage space for one car. Please contact me if you have any questions. Good luck bidding! |

Corniche Comeback: New Rolls-Royce coupe spotted testing
Wed, 25 Jul 2012It's been over a decade since Rolls-Royce last offered a Corniche, which was the company's name for its unibody coupe and convertible models since the early 1970s. But from the looks of what our photographers recently snapped in Munich, that drought may soon be over.
What they've spied is the 2014 Rolls-Royce Corniche coupe, a forthcoming model based on the Rolls-Royce Ghost. Never mind the fake door handles and rear doors on the test mules, the production Corniche will have just two suicide doors like its big brother the Phantom coupe.
Powertrain will probably be carried over from the Ghost sedan, meaning a 6.6-liter V12. We suspect that BMW will roll out its new Roller at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013. Until then, our spies will keep their eyes open for more prototypes, including the oft-rumored convertible.
Rolls-Royce unveils new bespoke Phantom 'Iridescent Opulence'
Mon, Feb 1 2021The Rolls-Royce Phantom is already a fairly solid symbol of conspicuous consumption, but its Bespoke program churns out cars that push the envelope even further. The latest, a feather-and-fleck adorned model dubbed "Iridescent Opulence," certainly checks those boxes. While Bespoke creations generate buzz with regularity, Rolls-Royce called this one out in particular because it shows off what its designers can do with otherwise "empty" space in the cabin. In this case, the party piece is on the dash, but that's not what the British super-luxe company is calling it. Here it is, straight from Rolls: THE GALLERY  An understanding that the marque’s patrons are increasingly collectors of fine and contemporary art led the Rolls-Royce Design Team to create a space in which to curate and to commission, to exhibit, admire and reflect. A space aptly named ‘The GalleryÂ’, is an application of glass that runs uninterrupted across the fascia of Rolls-Royce Phantom, providing an unprecedented opportunity to present artwork within your car. Assembled in a highly technical Clean Room at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England – a sterile environment within which delicate and highly Bespoke items can be assembled, from a simple application of wood or metal, to a more complex use of materials not normally viable in an automotive context –  ‘The GalleryÂ’ extends the patronÂ’s experience of curation with the marque to a new realm. See? It's not a dashboard; it's an exhibition space. Here, it's used to show off a collection of more than three thousand tail feathers. Yep, feathers. Sustainably sourced, Rolls-Royce insists, but still pretty, and draped over a 3D-printed shape designed to emulate the musculature of a bird wing, so you can pretend those peacocks (we're spitballing here) were absorbed by the machine, rather than slaughtered so their fluffy bits could adorn it. Feathers and additively manufactured materials are only the tip of the iceberg for these new gallery concepts, Rolls-Royce says, so we expect to see more like this in the future. Just, you know, one at a time. Rolls-Royce Phantom 'Iridescent Opulence' View 13 Photos
Rolls-Royce SUV depends on fortunes of BMW X7
Sun, 02 Jun 2013The on-again, off-again discussion regarding the rumored Rolls-Royce SUV seems to be back in the "maybe" camp now. In February, we heard that Rolls-Royce was considering adding an SUV, but then in April, another report said that these rumors had been shot down. Automobile is now saying that this ultra-luxury SUV could be determined by the success of the equally uncertain BMW X7 (on which the R-R SUV would be based), which we've heard little on since 2011.
Although the article is based solely on speculation, there are some interesting details about such a potential Rolls-Royce, including a plug-in hybrid drivetrain using a twin-turbo V8 (not a V12) and a chassis and body built in South Carolina with final assembly taking place in Goodwood - where all Rolls-Royce cars are built. We could also assume that a green light for a Rolls-Royce SUV would be based on the success of rival SUVs like the Bentley Falcon and Maserati Levante.
