I am selling a stunning 1985 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Mark I

This old-school luxury vehicle is powered by the legendary Rolls-Royce fuel injected 6.7 liter V8. The amazing motor is coupled with a GM THM 400 three speed automatic transmission. The buyer will be thoroughly satisfied with the pristine condition that the this vehicle is in - both aesthetically and mechanically.

This all original survivor from nearly three decades ago is finished in a beautiful black paint with tan vinyl top. The exterior is complemented by four white wall tires wrapped around the original 15 inch Rolls Royce wheels.

When the new owner takes a seat inside of this exquisite example of British craftsmanship they will immediately notice how well preserved and elegant the interior is. Tan saddle leather wraps the seats and door panels and is complimented by traditional hand-made wood grain accents which adorn the doors, dash and very unique fold down tray tables in the rear.

This car has nearly all of the features you would expect to find in a modern vehicle; Air Conditioning, an AM/FM Radio which has had a Pioneer 6 Disk CD player added to it, Cruise Control, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Door Locks, Eight way adjustable Power Seats and Power Windows.

This gorgeous 1985 Silver Spur Mark I has just 47,828 original miles and could surely go much much more. It has made it nearly thirty years and is still in pristine condition - it has at least thirty more ahead of it.

This is a two-owner car. The original owner had the vehicle from 1985 - 2002 and the second owner has meticulously maintained the vehicle until they recently decided to sell it. I have all of the original books that came with the car in addition to an extensive and thorough documentation of the vehicles service history. I have given bidders as many photos as possible and can happily send more upon request. The vehicle is available for showing upon appointment only.

It is my opinion that this vehicle falls into the classification of a "Condition 2" car according to Hagerty.com's Price Guide Report. "Condition 2" is defined as "#2 cars could win a local or regional show. They can be former #1 cars that have been driven or have aged. Seasoned observers will have to look closely for flaws, but will be able to find some not seen by the general public. The paint, chrome, glass and interior will all appear as excellent. No excessive smoke will be seen on startup, no unusual noises will emanate from the engine compartment. The vehicle will drive as a new car of its era would. The one word description for #2 cars is "excellent."
The median price for a "Condition 2" 1985 Silver Spur is $17,400. Due to the extremely low mileage I believe my reserve price is set accordingly and gives bidders a true chance to own an amazing vehicle for less than market value. As in a real auction I will not reveal my reserve price to people who email me asking what it is. My advice would be to bid until it is off IF you are seriously interested in this vehicle.

Only 6,240 Mark I vehicles were produced from 1980-1989 making this a collectible vehicle and a rare piece of automotive history.

Notes about the 1985 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Mark I: In 1985 Rolls-Royce standard saloons received some minor revisions which mainly focused on the facia and interior trim. Externally the headlamps wash & wipe system gave way to high pressure jets mounted on the bumper, which eliminated the need for separate wipers. In addition to some subtle re-styling, the cars received burr walnut veneers, even more elegant than before, that extended to the door cappings. On the early Silver Spirit cars this was limited to finishers formed from walnut. Operation of the cruise control was simplified, the air conditioning outlets were slightly repositioned within the center console, and the digital display was modified to be all the more informative.
In 1985 Rolls Royce produced their 1,000,000th vehicle.

Rolls-Royce drops top for a new Dawn

Wed, May 13 2015

Last summer Rolls-Royce confirmed it's been developing a new convertible, and now it has given that droptop a name: Dawn. Though Goodwood has not exactly been forthcoming with the details, the new Dawn is widely expected to serve as the convertible version of the Wraith fastback coupe. Its arrival would complete the expansion of the "entry level" Rolls-Royce family (if a relative term has ever been more so) alongside the Ghost, Ghost Extended Wheelbase, and the aforementioned Wraith to mirror that of the Phantom range above it. Now if you're thinking that the name Dawn doesn't convey the same supernatural "spirit" as the other nameplates in Goodwood's lineup, you're right. The press release below speaks of opportunity and the promise of a new day, and of course the name conveys as well the letting in of the sunshine (in this case) through its opening roof. But the handle also borrows from the company's considerable history. The original Silver Dawn was a highly exclusive cabriolet, of which Rolls only built 28 examples between 1950 and '54. It was the first Rolls-Royce to feature bodywork built in-house, and the company promises the new Dawn will offer extensive customization options as well. The Dawn has already been shown to dealers at a conference in LA, but we'll have to wait until early in the new year to see it for ourselves. The new model, an exciting and sensuous drophead, will be known as Rolls-Royce Dawn. The car was unveiled to representatives of the marque's 130-strong global dealer network at the 2015 Rolls-Royce World Dealer Conference in Los Angeles, California today. "Our new Rolls-Royce Dawn promises a striking, seductive encounter like no other Rolls-Royce to date," said Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, Chief Executive Officer. "Dawn is a beautiful new open-top motor car with a name that suggests the fresh opportunities that every new day holds – an awakening, an opening up of one's senses and a burst of sunshine. It will be the most social of super-luxury motor cars for those beautiful people who wish to bathe in the sunlight of the world's social hotspots." Rolls-Royce Dawn is the next step in the renaissance of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars which began in 2003 with the launch of Phantom and subsequent introductions of Ghost and Wraith.

Bloodhound SSC fires up Rolls-Royce jet engine for land speed record

Thu, Oct 5 2017

RAF ST MAWGAN, England — Fizz, whirr, shriek, pop and silence ... It took several attempts to get the Bloodhound land speed record contender started for the first time on Sept. 28. On a bright and blustery day at RAF St Mawgan in Cornwall, in southwest England, the sense of occasion was palpable, if only the damn jet engine's blades would fire up. But the Rolls-Royce 20,232-pound-thrust turbofan wasn't going to give up its virgin status as a car engine easily. As driver, RAF pilot and current land speed record-holder Andy Green explained, the Rolls EJ200 is one of the most reliable military jet engines ever, but it's never been used before in a car. "I can show you figures of its incredible reliability," he said, "but every bit of its control software expects it to be in a Typhoon [fighter aircraft], and we have to keep telling it that it is in an aircraft, which needs some quick-footed work on the software." This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Quick-footed indeed, as right there on the RAF St Mawgan runway, without a pizza or a Coca-Cola in sight, software engineer Joe Holdsworth performed a virtuoso piece of recoding on the engine's software to persuade it not to shut down in alarm at some low-level electrical interference it simply doesn't see in its normal aeronautical environment. Then, with just 20 minutes left of the team's running permission window, the remote jet starter cart shrieked, its air-delivery pipe bulged like an elephant's trunk blocked with a coconut and the massive turbofan spun, popped, emitted a polite ball of flame and smoked into life. No cheers or high-fives here; this is after all a British team. But there was clear delight from the 20 engineers attendant on Bloodhound. After three successful starts, Wing Commander Green leapt from the cockpit and Mark Chapman, chief engineer, pronounced that he was well satisfied and that the sight of a jet car surging gently against its arrestor cable and wheel chocks was awesome. "We knew it was going to take a couple of starts to get it running," said Chapman, who explained why the engine appeared so smoky at first. "This is an inhibited engine, so it was tested a couple of months ago at Rolls-Royce and basically filled with corrosion inhibitor, and you've got to blow that all through at the start.

2016 Rolls-Royce Dawn opens up in public [w/video]

Tue, Sep 15 2015

This is the third time I've seen this exact car. Rolls-Royce first showed me the Dawn at a private residence in Beverly Hills, then I saw it behind closed doors in Pebble Beach. Now it makes its official public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and even though the car is old news to me, it's drawing quite a crowd. Of course, there's always reason to get excited when someone says, "New Rolls-Royce." The Dawn is a really pretty, four-seat convertible. It shares a lot of its underpinnings with the Ghost and Wraith, but nearly 80 percent of the body panels are new. Under that long hood sits Rolls' 6.6-liter, twin-turbo V12, producing 563 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque, mated to the silky-smooth ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. Rolls-Royce says the Dawn will be its most versatile canvas yet, with nearly endless possibilities for customization. I like the blue and orange of the showcar, but I'm excited to see how different colors look on this nicely sculpted, elegant convertible. If you haven't checked out the Dawn already, see it from all angles in our live gallery above. Everything else you could ever want to know about the new Rolls-Royce can be found in the press blast, below. ROLLS-ROYCE DAWN – UNCOMPROMISED DROPHEAD LUXURY September, 8 2015 – Goodwood UK "Our new Rolls-Royce Dawn promises a striking, seductive encounter like no other Rolls-Royce to date, and begins a new age of open-top, super-luxury motoring. Dawn is a beautiful new motor car that offers the most uncompromised open-top motoring experience in the world. A true four-seater, it will be the most social of super-luxury drophead motor cars for those who wish to bathe in the sunlight of the world's most exclusive social hotspots. Quite simply, it is the sexiest Rolls-Royce ever built. The name 'Dawn' perfectly suggests the fresh opportunities that every new day holds – an awakening, an opening up of one's senses and a burst of sunshine. In its tentative, inchoate, anticipatory state, dawn is the world coming to light from the ethereal dark of the night. The early-day chill of dawn provides an erotic tingle on the skin, awakening the senses and passions as the day begins.
