Chrysler recalling hundreds of thousands of Jeep Grand Cherokee and Commander SUVs
Wed, 23 Jul 2014The public might associated ignition switch recalls with General Motors - and with good cause - but that's not the only automaker calling its vehicles back in to fix that sort of issue.
Last month we reported that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was investigating an array of Chrysler Group vehicles for electrical-related safety issues. The administration and Chrysler subsequently issued a recall for 700,000 Dodge Journey crossovers, Dodge Grand Caravan minivans and Chrysler Town & Country minivans. But while the Jeeps that were also under investigation were not covered in that recall, they are being addressed in a separate one now.
Although Chrysler reports that it is only aware of a single accident stemming from this issue, it is "committing now to conduct a recall out of an abundance of caution." The recall affects the 2006-2007 Jeep Commander and 2005-2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, of which it reports there are 792,300 on the road: 649,900 in the United States, 28,800 in Canada, 12,800 in Mexico and a further 100,800 outside of North America.
2014 Ram Promaster recalled over stuck pedal fears
Sun, 09 Feb 2014Ram's new, Fiat-derived cargo van, the ProMaster, is set to be recalled over concerns that the accelerator pedals could stick. The issue affects 9,655 ProMasters, with 7,935 vans in the US, 1,437 vehicles in Canada and 283 in Mexico.
There have been no reported injuries or crashes from the issue - according to The Detroit News, there haven't even been any customer complaints. The issue was reportedly discovered while Chrysler was testing the vehicle at its proving ground, which is what prompted the internal investigation. Still, it's unlikely that ProMaster vans will suffer from unintended acceleration issues, as each van is equipped with a brake-throttle override.
As of this writing, there's been no bulletin or activity from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Idaho Ram dealer offered free elk taxidermy with purchase
Thu, Oct 1 2020A Ram and Jeep dealer in Post Falls, Idaho, was offering free elk taxidermy with the purchase of a new truck. Sadly, the promotion ended yesterday. Now, is this type of promotion commonplace? I honestly have no idea, but it sure seems novel. Offering free taxidermy of any sort with the purchase of a new car or truck is certainly one thing, but the specificity of the elk really drives it home. "Hi, I'm looking to buy your blue Ram 1500 Laramie and I just took down this pronghorn that I'd like to get taxidermied for free." "I'm sorry, sir, the promotion only covers elk. But about that Laramie ..." For those wondering, it does seem to be general elk hunting season in Idaho, but after a brief look at Idaho's extensive Big Game Seasons and Rules guide, there is a dizzying number of rules and regulations regarding exactly when and where one can hunt elk as well as what kind of elk one can hunt. Try reading that sentence out loud. Nevertheless, it would logically seem that free elk taxidermy could be enticing for those living in the area of Post Falls, which is in between Coeur d'Alene and Spokane, Washington, near the state border. So hey, why not? Way to get creative Findlay Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. According to the advertisement, the dealer would only cover $1,500 worth of elk taxidermy. Is that enough for a quality taxidermification of your elk? Again, I'd rather not Google that. But it's nevertheless something, right? Related Video: Â
