2020 Ram Heavy Duty spy shots show updated lighting and new grille
Wed, Oct 31 2018We saw the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 nearly a year ago, but we have yet to get a full look at the new heavy-duty models, the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500. We've seen a number of spy shots of the new truck — including the new Power Wagon — but it's been hard to make out details through the camouflage. These new spy photos give us our best look yet at the new heavy-duty pickup's exterior. The Ram 3500 pictured here appears to have the updated headlights and taillights from the Ram 1500. There are multiple headlight designs on the 1500, each depending on trim, so expect a similar variation on the Heavy Duty models as well. The grille, too, appears to have ditched the crosshair in favor of the new "RAM" badge in large lettering. One photo shows a single-pane sunroof, so it's unclear if the Ram 1500 Limited's panoramic glass will carry upward. One other notable addition is power-retracting running boards. While we don't have a good look at the truck's interior, past spy photos show that the Ram 1500's dashboard will carry over. We're hoping the rest of the truck's interior makes its way to the 2500 and 3500 models, too, as it's easily the best-in-class for the current crop of trucks. Stay tuned for more news on the new Ram trucks in the next few months. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
2019 Ram 1500 Sport trim is exclusive to Canada, can be replicated in America
Fri, Feb 16 2018Ram already revealed one region-exclusive 2019 Ram 1500 pickup in the form of the Lone Star trim for Texas. It's basically a Big Horn with fancy badges. But that's not the only one, as it has introduced a Sport trim that will only be available in Canada. Just like the Lone Star, the Sport has an analogue buried among the many trims and options for American-market Rams. But before we get into how U.S. buyers can re-create the Sport, let's take a look at what makes the Sport ... sporty? It's only available with a 5.7-liter V8 making the standard 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Both two- and four-wheel drive are available as are quad and crew cabs. The exterior features standard LED lights, a body-color grille and other body-color trim, along with a number of black bits of trim including badges. The standard wheels are 20-inch units, while black and silver 22-inch wheels are optional. Also optional is the more aggressive Sport hood. The interior is all black with either cloth and premium vinyl seats or optional leather. It also has diamond-plate steel pattern trim from the Rebel, plus a Sport badge on the dash. Now, the trim looks quite nice, and it's easily re-created in America. To get the same features such as the LED lights, simply choose the Laramie trim level. It can be equipped with the Sport Appearance package which includes everything you see on the body, including the aggressive hood. The one difference is the lack of black badging. The same 22-inch wheels are also available as an option. And, if you want to save a little bit of money with almost the same looks, you can choose a Big Horn Ram, which doesn't have the LED lights, but the Sport Appearance package is still available, along with 20-inch wheels. But if you really want those LED lights, they are an option on the Big Horn. The Big Horn also opens up the option of the V6, if you're feeling especially frugal. If you're in Canada and like the look of the Sport, it goes on sale in the second quarter of 2018. And if you're in the U.S., just spec out a Big Horn or Laramie. Related Video:
Mopar Muscle is Monster Jam's first OEM monster truck in over a decade
Fri, 10 Jan 2014New monster trucks seem to join the Monster Jam circuit every year, but it's not often that one gets the official blessing of an automaker. That's about to change, however, as Chrysler's truck division has teamed up once again with Hall Brothers Racing - which already fields the championship-winning Raminator and Rammunition trucks - to field the series' first new Original Equipment Manufacturer monster truck in over a decade.
Dubbed Mopar Muscle, the new Ram monster truck will debut at the Monster Jam in Detroit on Saturday at Ford Field, at the first of six such events in which Mike Miller (who, incidentally, named his son Hemi) will drive the truck throughout the year.
Here's what you need to know: Based on a 2014 Ram HD pickup (or at least made to look like one), Mopar Muscle stands 10 feet tall and weighs over 10,000 pounds, and it's powered by the legendary Gen II 426 Hemi that celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. But instead of leaving the massive 7.0-liter engine as is, Hall Brothers Racing enlarged it to 565 cubic inches - a mind-boggling 9.3 liters - and supercharged it to 2,000 horsepower. That's a whole lot of muscle no matter what it's packed into. Check it out in our high-res image gallery above. You can also check out the full schedule of events in the press release below to see if the truck is coming to your area this year.
