2023 New York Auto Show Live Updates: Hyundai's surprise, Nissan's super stand, '24 Wrangler

The 2023 New York International Auto Show shifts into high gear Wednesday, April 5, and our reporters are already in the city, with events unfolding even as we speak. We'll being seeing cars in person, interviewing automaker insiders and snapping photos of vehicles and all the other oddities that pop up at an event like this and we'll be giving you live updates and color from the show floor along the way.  Ram, Hyundai, Subaru, Kia, VW and Jeep are all expected to show something new this week, and other automakers are known to be hosting off-site events that may produce news — expected or otherwise. Genesis has already revealed its GV80 Coupe, for example, along with the fact that it has been confirmed as a production model. GM already raising prices on 2014 Silverado and Sierra pickups

General Motors must be pretty pleased with sales of its two newest pickups, the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado, as it's announced price hikes for both models, as part of a planned price tweak.
Prices will be bumped by as much as $1,500, although weirdly, they'll be offset by as much as $1,500 in cash-back offers through the end of October. Fox Business reports that GM spokesman Jim Cain said of the price hike, "With the sell down of the '13 models nearly complete, this price adjustment was planned and is a normal part of business."
The move, as Fox is quick to point out, is an interesting one, as sales of the twin pickups struggled last month relative to the Ford F-Series, while both of GM's crosstown competitors have been aggressively undercutting Silverado and Sierra prices. The F-150 starts at $24,070 and the Ram 1500 comes in at $23,600, not counting any cash on the hood. A base Silverado, meanwhile, retails at $25,575.

2019 Ram 1500 gets vertical touchscreen infotainment system

Truck buyers have grown to expect more than class-leading payload, towing, and torque figures. Today's pickups entice buyers with roomy cabins, luxurious interior materials, and the latest technologies that automakers have to offer. In the case of Ram, that includes FCA's well-regarded UConnect infotainment system. And judging by this latest set of spy shots, the 2019 Ram 1500's UConnect 4.0 package will include an inverted LCD screen. Vertical-oriented touchscreens are already available in certain Tesla, Volvo, and Toyota Prius Prime models, but this is the first such system we've seen in a pickup truck. The tall screen is flanked by hard buttons – some of which duplicate on-screen climate controls – and an additional set of software buttons appear at the bottom. Toggle switches below the screen include an option to manually raise and lower the Ram's air suspension setup. And finally, two dials remain for audio volume and tuning functions. A look at the 2019 Ram 1500's key fob shows that it, too, will get buttons to adjust the truck's ride height. That should make it easier to bring the pickup closer to the ground for entry and to load the bed, even from outside the cabin. We expect to see the Ram 1500 to debut in production spec at the Detroit Auto Show in January of 2018.
