For your consideration: An exceptional 2000 Porsche Boxster with rare factory optional Hard Top and low mileage.

This Porsche has been my pride and joy. It pains me to sell it, but I have relocated full time to Manhattan, NY, and I simply don't drive anymore.

An absolute joy to drive, the Boxster is in exceptional condition, mechanical and cosmetic. Has been cared for it's entire life, and has no known problems to report. No accidents. Has been rarely winter-driven, Always indoor stored, and is smoke and pet free. The original optional Arctic Silver Metallic paint presents beautifully, with surface stone nics to the front fascia and visible only from close quarters and in keeping with moderate highway driving. Windshield has had one or two tiny nics repaired (filled) at the Porsche dealership. The black leather interior is in truly superb shape - the carpet, dash, instrumentation and controls are clean and in working order. Nothing missing, nothing out of place, everything working.

The vehicle has been in a high-end storage facility in New Jersey since September, 2012 where it is regularly started, idled, revved, moved (to prevent tire flattening) and aired out (windows up and down). The last time it was taken on a lengthy road trip was in December, 2013 and the last Porsche certified tune-up the vehicle had was also in that month: December, 2013 (ie: exactly 6 months ago) at Jack Daniels Porsche in Upper Saddle River, NJ.

I purchased the vehicle in April, 2010 from the third owner of the car. In the time that I have owned it, it has performed superbly, exceeding all my expectations and making me a Porsche convert for life. The Boxster was in very clean condition when I bought it, and I have done my utmost to keep it in exceptional shape during my ownership. My practice has been to service it regularly and often - whether it needed it or not - and always at authorized Porsche Dealerships. The only time it has been serviced elsewhere was on two occasions when I had tire work done (nail hole patched and new tires installed). I have driven the car across the country and will provide service (tune-up) records/receipts from 6 authorized Porsche dealerships. The car never required any serious work, and Porsche service staff often commented that it is one of the cleanest 2000 Boxsters they have seen. All work done on the car during my ownership falls under the category of "regular maintenance".

This Boxster comes with the rare factory optional Hard Top. Let me say this: this is a superb addition to the car. I cannot speak more highly of the hard top. It gives the Boxster a unique look and adds more of an "all-season" option to the car. It is warmer and quieter than the soft top, and it has an electrical connector to plug in the defrost for the rear (glass) window. Another advantage of the hard top (aside from the fact that it looks incredible) is that it protects the soft top: the rag top on this car is immaculate, having been folded up, for most of its life, under the hard top. Many older Boxsters have very tatty soft tops due to constant exposure to the elements. The optional hard top was expensive new, and is still very sought after by Boxster owners. I specifically sought out this car for purchase because it had the hard top, and it was the best decision I ever made.

The car will be sold with a custom dust cover (pictured) and optional bra (pictured). Also, original owners manual in it's Porsche case (very clean), and original spare tire and jack (never used) in it's original tire cover. Both trunk and boot are very clean and have only been used for soft luggage.

Among the listed features are:

Arctic Silver Hard Top (optional)
Arctic Silver Metallic (optional)
Sport Package (optional)
17" wheels (optional)
AM/FM Stereo with CD player with centre shelf (optional)
Wheel caps with coloured crests (optional)
Black mats with Porsche lettering (optional)
water-cooled, mid-engine
2.7 litre, 6 cylinder engine, 217 hp
5-speed manual transmission
Power steering
Cruise control
Speed activated rear spoiler
Anti-lock brakes
Dual airbags with side airbags
Heated windshield washer
Anti-theft system
Cental locking system
Partial leather seats
Power backrest
AC with digital climate control
Power heated side mirrors
Clear wind-stop deflector
Fog lights (two front, one rear)
Power operated top and windows
Carbon filtered ventilation system
Power heated side mirrors
Illuminated sunvisor vanity mirrors

*** Please note: Exact mileage will be listed as soon as I get confirmation from the manager of my storage facility. I guarantee that the mileage on the Porsche is currently higher than 38,000 miles and lower than 40,000 miles - so I have listed it as 39,000 miles.

This is a very clean Porsche Boxster being sold as described by a private owner. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. Good luck bidding.

Porsche 919 Hybrid sets new qualifying record at Le Mans [w/video]

Thu, Jun 11 2015

Porsche is getting off to a great start at Le Mans this year, setting a new qualifying lap record. Both Neel Jani and Timo Bernhardt clocked qualifying times in the latest Porsche 919 Hybrid that eclipse the previous record. At 3:16.887 and 3:17.767, both Porsche factory works drivers beat the record 3:18.51 qualifying time achieved by Stephane Sarrazin in the Peugeot 908 back in 2008. We should note, however, that these times are for the current track configuration. The outright qualifying record for any configuration still belongs to – you guessed it, also Porsche. Pedro Rodriguez pole position in 1971 in the Porsche 917 at 3:13.90. His teammate Jackie Oliver lapped even faster during the practice session at 3:13.6, and went on to set the fastest race lap that same year, which still stands at 3:18.4. The long and short of it, though, is that Porsche has been and remains the force to be reckoned with when it comes to outright pace around the French circuit. All that remains to be seen is whether the team can translate that pace into victory over the defending Le Mans winners at Audi and the reigning World Endurance Champions at Toyota. As expected, this first day will be have been marked by the domination of the Porsche 919 Hybrid cars during the first qualifying practice and who totally smashed the record of the track. But let's be careful, Audi isn't far behind. In LM P2, an Oreca 05 from Team KCMG finished in front whereas the Aston Martins excelled in LM GTE Pro and LM GTE Am. During the free practice sessions that took place between 4 and 8pm, the competitors began carefully on a drying track after the afternoon rain. The red flag was presented only 5 minutes after the opening of the track because of an immobilized driver who had made a mistake (without any other consequence other than this neutralization) at braking point in the chicane ForzaMotorsport (first of the two chicanes on the Hunaudieres). The British driver Richard Bradley was the cause of this behind the steering wheel of the Oreca 05 n°47 of the Hong Kong team KCMG. The prototype LM P2 was brought back to the pits on the breakdown truck. A little later, the same Richard Bradley did the best time of the free session on this Oreca 05 n°47.

Alonso wants an NSX, but did Honda block him from Le Mans?

Tue, Jan 20 2015

One of the biggest changes in store for the 2015 Formula One World Championship will see Fernando Alonso moving back to McLaren. That means he'll be driving under Honda power for the first time, after spending the bulk of his career driving for Renault and Ferrari. And being Honda's new poster child, as the two-time World Champion is fast discovering, has its advantages and its drawbacks. According to the latest reports, Alonso had been negotiating a clause in his contract with McLaren that could have seen him driving a Porsche 919 Hybrid at Le Mans this year, but Honda reportedly stepped in at the last minute and scuttled the plan. The drive would have been Alonso's first in the famous 24-hour race, after having had the honor of waving the flag at La Sarthe last summer. In one of the wilder rumors that emerged during the prolonged silence over his move for this season, the Spaniard was also linked to a potential return for Ferrari to Le Mans. That prospect came to naught, and now the Porsche deal has been wheeled into the garage, as well. The upcoming F1 season is expected to be one of transition, adjustment and development for McLaren and Honda, but the Japanese automaker's involvement in his hiring may not be all bad news for Alonso. Following the reveal of the new Acura NSX, Alonso tweeted "You still don't know, but one day we will be together..." followed by a series of heart-eyed smiley-face emoticons and accompanies by images of Honda's new supercar. The implication is that the two-time World Champion is expecting to get his talented hands on an NSX of his own, and we can certainly see how Honda would appreciate the imagery of Fernando driving around in its flagship. Even if it doesn't, though, we're sure McLaren would be glad to hook him up with a company car of its own – though Lewis Hamilton encountered some trouble securing (a very specific) one for himself. Even discounting the front-running F1 machinery he's been tasked with piloting on track to an impressive 32 career wins, Alonso has had some lustworthy company cars at his disposal over the years. At Renault, he had a Megane RS to drive, and during his last stint at McLaren, he had an SLR 722. But since signing with Ferrari, he's been given the keys to FCA models as varied as a Ferrari FF, a special 599 GTO, a Maserati GranCabrio, a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and an Abarth 695... and those are just the ones we know about.

Editors' Picks June 2024: Some German SUVs and an excellent sports car

Fri, Jul 5 2024

This month sees some recently-refreshed luxury SUVs join the list of Editors' Picks. Both the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne are fresh for 2024, and both are extremely tempting luxury performance SUVs for the well-off buyer. The vast array of powertrains available for both of them ensure there's a version for all comers, and any enthusiast would adore the extra-high-performance versions of both. Of course, enthusiasts will enjoy the last car on this month's list the most with the Lotus Emira. It's simply spectacular to drive, and we can't recommend it enough to the hardcore driver. In case you missed previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get an EditorsÂ’ Pick designation. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. You'll find the entire list of Editors' Picks at this link here, which we keep updated as cars are either added or dropped from the list. The vehicles youÂ’ll find below consist of every car we rated in June that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2024 BMW X5 2024 BMW X5 M Competition View 41 Photos Quick take: The X5 is most desirable in its PHEV and M60i V8 trims, but the whole lineup is extremely competent and brings together excellent performance, excess luxury and cutting-edge tech for its segment. Score: 7.5 What it competes with: Mercedes-Benz GLE, Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover Sport, Maserati Levante, Genesis GV80, Audi Q8 Pros: Superb to drive with knockout powertrains; excellent utility and creative features; styling is sporty and attractive but not over the top Cons: Infotainment system can be a pain; M Competition model is a little over the top; gets pricey quick with options From the editors:  Senior Editor, Electric John Beltz Snyder — "I really like the dual-opening liftgate/tailgate combo. The liftgate portion up top opens quickly, allowing you to throw something inside or grab something out of the back. Flipping down the lower tailgate part gives you a nice place to sit and change shoes. Another benefit is that you can open the liftgate without unsecured items immediately falling out. And with the way the X5 M Competition encourages you to drive it hard, you will end up shifting loose cargo around at some point." Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "I'd snag the X5 M60i out of all the various X5 variants.
