1999 - Porsche Boxster on 2040-cars
Hayward, California, United States
This 1999 Porsche Boxster will amaze you at multiple levels: It moves very aggressively, but with precision. It draws attention at every boulevard stop, while cruising PCH or on the FRWY at rush hour, while those around you should have both their eyes on the road. I promise . . . you'll get more attention in a week than in my BMW X5 in 6 months. The car runs as designed, the roof does not leak and it stops on a dime. I am selling the car because I have 3 children. I bought it as gift to myself, for turning 50, but it does not fit my family lifestyle. The kids LOVE it and so do I, but I can only drive with one at a time. In addition, I work a few miles from home and as a result, the car sits idle in my garage with an appetite for the road it well deserves. I don't trust it in the company parking lot, I prefer to keep it free of dings, nor do I care for it sitting in the sun with stuff falling from the pine trees. I have pampered it since day one . . . thank YOU!! power seats, power windows, power locks, power rear view mirrors, power roof(top down-top up), cruise control, am/fm radio with cd player, leather seats, 5 speed manual transmission, black inside, outside and above. no accidents, clear title, clean car fax, newer tires, almost new interior floor mats, clear interior wind deflector, clear rear vinyl window with a very smooth idle, acceleration and overall performance. Please ask any questions that come to mind. Dear tuesdaycameras, Presently own a 911s just a great car, saw yours and am very interested, a few questions, the engine, trans, and driveline, any issues? Oil leaks? Any oil spots on garage floor? The trans any issues up and down while shifting? Any issues with the drive train any noises? Maintenance records available? Has a smog inspection been done within the last 90 days? The driver seat can't quite tell but looks cracked? And as far as driving, mostly in the city or open road?-tx - mkerns8gnh Yes, the driver's car seat shows signs of fatigue, but that was done by the previous owner who was handicapped. He drove it for a small time and found it to be uncomfortable. The engine, trans and drive train are free of any issues. No real oil spots on the garage floor, but then you can inspect the garage floor firsthand. There are no formal maintenance records, because I have a private mechanic: I own a 2001 BMW X5, a 2010 Prius, a 2005 VW Passat, a 1965 Chevy Pick Up, 1991 Mercedes, a 1956 Ford Pick up, along with the Boxster in question,so taking them to a Dealer is not a practical option I can afford. The drive train is free of noises and it shifts up and down smoothly free of any odd sounds. No smog has been done recently, but I can provide that upon sale. I have only driven it on the highway to destinations away from home with my 77 year old mother or kids to grab dinner or a frozen yogurt by the beach. I don't waste mileage cruising around locally, instead I use my 1991 Mercedes to do the bulk of my travels. The Mercedes just reached 300,000 miles on Friday October 3rd and you can use this as testimony towards the mechanical condition of the vehicles I own. Your welcome to come by and check it out for yourself . . . thank Y O U !! I have attached some photos of my 1991 300CE Mercedes with a proud 300,000 miles, thanks again for your interest. FREE! 2016 Porsche Boxster Spyder First Drive [w/video]
Mon, Jul 13 2015The recipe for the 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder cooked up a meal that everyone loved. Yes, even with the three-piece, Erector Set canvas top that took one journalist 30 minutes to lower the first time. Boiled down, the 2011 model was a Boxster S with 10 extra horsepower and 176 fewer pounds, graced with accelerated reflexes. For the second coming of the Boxster Spyder, Porsche fortified the ingredients it used in the first. It starts with the Boxster GTS and adds the 3.8-liter flat-six from the 911 Carrera S, tuned to 375 horsepower and 301 pound-feet of torque. The Spyder subtracts around 72 pounds compared to the Boxster GTS, weighing in at 2,899 pounds. This, then, is both the most powerful and the lightest Boxster you can get. For you fact-checkers out there, the entry-level Boxster is listed at 2,888 pounds on the Porsche USA site, but a spokesman points out that, "the metric for determining weight has changed, which increased the amount of fluids necessary to perform weight testing." In other words, the base Boxster is unchanged, but the real-world curb weight is actually higher. It's ridiculous to quibble over 11 pounds – or whatever the difference is – because the Boxster Spyder has 110 more horsepower and 96 more pound-feet than the base model. With a successful technique already established, we thought the latest Boxster Spyder would even more of a raucous and rowdy good time than its predecessor. But it's not. The standard Boxster Spyder doesn't come with manual A/C or a stereo, but both can be added for no additional cost. The exterior, at least, exhibits the right kind of maturity. Front and rear fascias swiped from the Cayman GT4 add 10 millimeters in length compared to other Boxsters. Those pieces make the car lighter, along with items like the aluminum doors and decklid. The bulges behind the roll hoops, called streamliners, are the can't-miss-it references to Porsche's historic and legendary Spyders. In case admirers still don't get it, Spyder badges sit atop each rear quarter panel. Inside, the leather, body-colored trim, and copious amount of Alcantara is like a track-day package arranged by Prada. The steering wheel is shared with the Cayman GT4. The lightweight sport seats that hug like a carbon fiber cradle in our test car aren't available in our market. Different sport seats are standard in the US, racier buckets are a $4,750 option.
Behold the glory of unobscured Porsche 911 Turbo bumpers
Tue, Aug 18 2015Porsche apparently sees absolutely no reason to hide the changes for the 911's upcoming refresh on any of the models. After releasing official photos of the standard version ahead of the debut, here are the Germans testing the revised 911 Turbo S at the Nurburgring with no camouflage at all. The exterior tweaks are tiny enough that maybe the company thinks no one would notice. The front bumper receives tiny adjustments, including the LED lights lengthened in the lower air intakes. The headlights are also slightly tweaked, and the taillights are the wider units from the rest of the updated range. The rear bumper receives some restyled vents at each corner, as well. The standard 911 is rumored to receive a new family of smaller displacement, turbocharged flat-six engines as soon as this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, and that leaves the Turbo in a weird place. Forced induction holds a special place in the model's lineup by denoting some of the most powerful versions. With that exclusivity possibly on the way out, Porsche might now have to find a way to keep the Turbo badge special. Related Video:
$76,400 Porsche S E-Hybrid will debut in Paris
Fri, Sep 26 2014The 2015 Porsche Cayenne S E Hybrid will be an all-new model, one that adds a plug – and the required associated technological bits – to the currently available Cayenne S Hybrid. The most important of those bits is a 10.8-kWh lithium-ion battery, but Porsche's Calvin Kim told AutoblogGreen that the SUV's electric-only range is still pending certification, but Hybrid Cars says that Porsche is estimating it'll be somewhere between 11 and 22 miles, "depending on the style of driving and route topography." Other than the new battery, the electric motor has been upgraded to a 95 horsepower/70 kW unit (up from the 47-hp/34 kW motor in the Cayenne hybrid without a plug). The overall powertrain now puts out a total of 416 hp and can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.4 seconds. Alongside the electric parts, there's a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. You can find all of the E-Hybrid's available specs here and stay tuned for more information on the new plug-in SUV when it makes its debut at the Paris Motor Show in early October. The SUV will go on sale in the US on November 1, 2014 with a starting MSRP of $76,400, plus a destination charge of $995. In a new press release (available below), Porsche is also proudly saying, once again, that it will be the world's only automaker offering three plug-in hybrid models, once the Cayenne S E-Hybrid hits the market. The others are the Panamera S E-Hybrid and the 918 Spyder. How long will this reign at the top last? World premiere of the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid in Paris Leading the industry: Porsche offers three plug-in hybrid models Stuttgart/Atlanta. The new Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid celebrates its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show. It is the world's first luxury SUV to offer a plug-in hybrid drive, setting new standards in its segment. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid also makes Porsche the leading manufacturer of plug-in hybrid vehicles: Complementing the Panamera S E-Hybrid and the 918 Spyder, Porsche is the only manufacturer worldwide to offer three plug-in hybrids. In addition to the Cayenne S E-Hybrid, Porsche is presenting the other models that comprise the new generation of Cayenne including the Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo, and Cayenne Diesel. Increased efficiency and performance, even more precise handling, a sharper design and a broadened array of standard equipment are its defining features.
