This car has been transformed into something special. A lot of thought and money has been put into this car.  I bought it only last July (2012) from the original owner.  He slowly transformed over his owner ship into what it is today.  His description from his ad with my updates:

Perfect street legal track car! Approximately 325 HP and 2750 lbs. Can do 1:02 at Lime Rock or 2:14 at Watkins Glen (his driving, not mine), and cruise around with the top down! Single owner(2 owner now), meticulously maintained and built by Musante Motorsports (musantemotorsports dot com). Modifications include a 996 3.4L engine w/ 14k mi(currently25k), sport intake & FVD exhaust, JIC Cross suspension (coilovers and 16 way adjustable compression), 996 brakes, ECU upgrade, competition clutch, DEEP oil sump, catch can, solid engine mounts, 996 18" wheels w/ BFG R1 slicks(no longer on the car), GT3 seats, Willans harness, Traqmate video/data acquisition. Transmission has only 6k mi(currently 17k), and several other new parts. 99k mi(currently 110,575K) on chassis only. Must see and drive for any track enthusiast.

*****NOTE*****

Car Currently has 25K miles on 3.4 996 crate motor, 17K on transmission and 110,575 total miles(may rise slightly as I am still driving it occasionally)

Car currently has Dunlop direzza 2's (plenty of tread, only 2 track days and 4K total miles) on 18 inch MY02 wheels(near perfect condition. The stock 17 inch wheels, in near perfect condition, have essentially brand new Pirelli winter tires (in order to drive year round) and I also have almost full tread Dunlop direzza star specs, which original owner used as rain tires, on the 17 inch wheels. These are currently unmounted. The wheels are in great shape and I can send pics to anyone. The wheels have no curb rash. The previous owner had a few of the wheels resprayed to remove any blemishes.

I have essentially every work order and maitenence receit since new. Previous owner was in one accident, spinning on snow and hitting a guard rail, several years ago and I have all the documentation of the repair. I just had the front bumper and hood resprayed as well as having a small dent repaired. I have before and after pics and it was very minor.

Since purchasing the car last August (2012), I have replaced all 4 wheel bearings, added brey krause roll bar extension, LN magnetic drain plug, LN spin on oil filter adapter, new MAF sensor, added mesh to front grills to keep out debris from radiators, replaced radiator fan, replaced leaky AC condensor, performed 3 oil changes (Joe Gibbs DT40) and 2 brake flushes (Castrol SRF). I do have another set of HANS (3-2-3) 6 compatible 6 pt harnesses, driver and passenger, that I did not get mounted. The are out of date, but unused.

I did 3 DE's last summer/fall and 2 this spring. Approximately 600 miles of the 11,000 I have driven in the last year are on the track (intermediate run group, street tires). The remainder have primarily been my 25-35 mile one way hwy commute.

The car recently passed CT emissions. However, an occasional CEL will come on for Secondary Air Injection and Evap Emissions. These are not an issue regarding driveability or performance. And, in CT as long as CEL is not on at the time of testing, only need 6 out of 8 parameters "ready". There is a pic of the recent test. I always check the codes to be sure and just reset the light.

There are really only 3 cosmetic issues. The back window has 2 vertical cracks. (I didn't know I was not suppose to open roof in cold weather.) Repaired them with E6000 epoxy which is flexible and weatherproof. The brake calipers are painted red and there is some peeling of the right rear caliper. There is a small wrinkle in the rear bumper cover down low on the left side of the car, from a broken muffler slightly melting the plastic. This is old and from previous owner. I have pictures, if not visible in this ad, available and is barely noticeable.

I am selling for medical reasons; 2 back surgeries since last December. Honestly, the GT3 seats are actually comfortable, but the overall ride is hard and the sitting position is fairly low.  I am replacing this car with something that will is more compliant.  It's a tradeoff in performance, but it best for me.

Just because it was built to handle the rigors of track use, does not mean that this isn't a great car for the streets.  I have spent a lot more time on the streets, and it handles like a gokart.  The shocks can be softened to allow a more compliant ride per personal preference.  The advantage of this car, is that it can handle track days without any issues.  It has the oiling capacity, braking capacity, the handling capacity, and increased safety capacity.  The cooling is also up to the task, as this setup is what was on the 1999 996 (911 carrera's).  Basically the same car from the front seats forward.  The advantage of this over a 911 is neutral and predictable handling.

I live 7 miles from the original owner, a PCA instructor. He is available to answer any questions anybody may have regarding this car.  I will provide contact info for any serious buyer, who wishes to find out any more specifics as to the build and history, but will preserve his privacy in this listing.

This car has been built the right way. The major upgrade parts alone are close to $40K. The engine transplant alone, was $33K with parts and labor.

A stock 99 boxster, with 2.5L motor and a lot more miles is a 12K car. Basically, I am asking for $9.5K more for all the extra parts and labor.  GT3 seats, MY02 wheels, suspension, exhaust, extra wheels with snow tires, roll bar extension, traqmate, etc, etc., etc. This car is probably worth more in parts.  The GT3 seats, 18 inch wheels, roll bar extension are probably worth $5K alone, if they were sold off right now.

My goal was to drive this car for a few years on and off the track and then finish the track only transformation. I had envisioned going to a full cage and really making a dedicated track vehicle. But, my circumstances have changed.

This car is ready to go. Maintenance is up to date. Needs nothing but a new owner.

Happy to help facilitate PPI for serious buyer at your expense. I am just outside of Hartford CT.

Thanks for looking.

*****Forgot to add that the convertible top was modified to be able to raise and lower while moving.  The only downside is that you have to remember to crack the windows about 1/2 inch for the top to seat itself properly.  The switch is a toggle by the left knee on the dash.*****

2015 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S gets faster, more powerful [w/video]

Tue, Jan 13 2015

Porsche just isn't letting development of the Cayenne Turbo S cease. The 2014 edition was unveiled at last year's Detroit Auto Show boasting 550 horsepower from the brand's 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8, and it could hit 60 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds to a 175 mph top speed. Those seemed like very impressive specs for an SUV, but only a year later, the German brand has revealed an even more powerful take on its flagship trim in the model lineup. The 2015 Cayenne Turbo S now makes 562 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque from the same V8. The key to seeing such a significant boost in grunt so quickly is that the two turbos are now integral and are located directly in the exhaust manifolds. Porsche's eight-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox still routes power to all four wheels. All of the tweaks let the SUV hit 60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds and a 176 mph to speed. Stopping should come quite rapidly too thanks to 16.5-inch diameter ceramic brake discs up front with 10-piston calipers. Of course, the Cayenne needs to be able to put that added grunt to good use. Porsche claims that the model can lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7:59.74. Comparatively, the 550-hp Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR previously touted its SUV 'Ring lap record with a circuit in 8:14 in 2014. The Turbo S doesn't try hard to show off its added prowess, though. Up front, the bumper and undersides of the door mirrors are done in high-gloss black paint. Meanwhile, the roof spoiler and wheel arches are body color. The 21-inch wheels with black edges provide a little flash, and LED headlights are standard. The interior should be comfy too with black and creme leather and carbon fiber accents. The whole package rings up for $157,300, plus $995 destination and delivery, and US deliveries start in late April. Check it out in Porsche's video below. This content is hosted by a third party. The new Cayenne Turbo S The top athlete among SUVs At the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Porsche is also introducing the new Cayenne Turbo S – the top model of the sporty SUV model series. Its re-engineered 4.8-liter V8 biturbo engine now develops 570 hp (419 kW) and 800 Nm (590 ft lb) of torque. A chassis that is tuned for maximum driving dynamics and packs a wide range of control systems also makes the Cayenne Turbo S a genuine top athlete.

Audi rumored to leave top-tier endurance racing after 2017

Fri, Oct 14 2016

Volkswagen's ongoing diesel scandal is turning out to be an expensive problem for the German automaker. With a recent settlement expected to cost the company up to $14.7 billion, the company is scrambling to find ways to save cash. In light of this, Audi could be pulling out of the highest class of endurance racing, which it has dominated for years. A report from Germany's Auto Motor und Sport, indicates that Audi has already finalized the automaker's departure from the World Endurance Championship's top-tier LMP1 class after the 2017 season. Another report by Autocar cites an unnamed insider to corroborate the LMP1 exit rumors. The report fingers the VW Group's ongoing diesel scandal's financial fallout as the main culprit for Audi bowing out of LMP1. The move to could also be due to the group's decision to move away from diesel technology. Audi's LMP1 car, the R18, utilizes a V6 turbo-diesel engine. The Porsche 919 Hybrid, on the other hand, uses 2.0-liter turbocharged V4 engine that runs on gasoline. Audi has won the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans 13 times since 1999, making Audi an unstoppable force in endurance racing. Porsche, Audi's corporate sibling, reentered endurance racing with a LMP1 competitor of its own in 2014 and won the constructor's championship last year. Audi's decision to leave LMP1 could give Porsche a shot at creating its own Le Mans-winning dynasty. Autocar reports that Audi is expected to continue fielding cars in other WEC classes, like GT3 and GT4, and perhaps the brand will even enter Formula E. We reached out to Audi for some clarification on the matter and a spokesperson stated that the rumors were "pure speculation at this point." 2015 Porsche Boxster GTS [w/video]

Thu, 22 May 2014

You know the sound: the startling pop-brraaap-pop-pop shotgun fire of unspent flammables coursing through exhaust pipes that usually signals a raw, naughty powerplant beneath the hood.
But when you're nestled in the Porsche Boxster GTS' snug seats, it's not a crackling small block V8 or a high-strung Italian flat crank making the devilish racket, but rather the new king of the Boxster/Cayman lineup, a 3.4-liter flat-six that produces 330 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque.
Within the emotional vacuum of a spec sheet, the Boxster GTS' pumped-up grunt seems pretty mild, with a gain of only 15 hp and 7 lb-ft, respectively. But the reworked acoustical experience goes a long way towards suggesting the GTS has a trace of racing blood in its veins, and might even be missing its catalytic converters. In addition to the sonorous, centrally positioned tailpipes, the cabin also fills with lovely mechanical strains thanks to the "Sound Symposer" acoustical amplifier that's trickled down into the Boxster/Cayman lineup from the 911 for the first time. Boxster S, we hardly knew ya.
