Spring is here! Time to drive a convertible????

1998 Red Porsche Boxster convertible

This was the track car from the Porsche Club of America Regional President. - He used it as an every day driver and track day car. With the suspension set up, the car is a blast to drive.

Overall I'd say it's a solid 8. It does have small stone chips on the front hood - easy to fix or fine as is... The interior is decent with a small tear on the drivers seat seam. (reparable I suspect)

It originally had a 2.5 engine that was recently replaced with a solid 2.7 engine so while the chassis has about 208K miles the engine and gearbox have less than 50K miles and even more HP.

If you look at this car I suspect you will buy it - really nice with great updates... Happy to allow any bidder to inspect/drive prior to bidding on this car.

The car is easily worth over 12K especially with the suspension upgrades and the "extra" parts old but good gearbox and engine are worth a fair amount as well.

Chassis has some nice options
- Upgraded suspension called Porsche ROW M030 stiffens car about 30% and lowers it about 0.5 inches
- New front rotors and comes with a set of new in box rear rotors and a bunch of extra brake pads
- Car has built in windbreak/screen
- Top was replaced a few years ago - decent shape auto up and down works great
- Car has a fully functional spare and tool kit
- I have receipts and paperwork
- Power steering lines were replaced within the last 6 months
- Stainless steel brake lines all four corners
- AC needs to be recharged - new line added during engine install.
- Replaced all the dash lights over the summer, so you will probably never have to replace it
- All the O2 and temp sensors are less than 2 years old

To the scam artists - don't bother - I will not accept a pay and ship scam or any other one you can create. If you are interested in the car the sale is cash and as-is. I have a clear VA title in hand.

THIS CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY AND IF SOLD THIS AD AND ANY BIDS WILL BE CANCELLED - If you want it prior to auction end use best offer and make a deal.

The mid-engine Porsche backstory

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

As an automaker's identity evolves over years, its signature becomes defined by any number of factors - heritage (Mercedes-Benz), image (Lamborghini), or market share (Toyota). In the case of Porsche, it was an engineering quirk that forged the German company's most enduring character trait.
Porsche would not have survived - let alone, thrived - in today's saturated landscape had it not been for the 911, and that slope-tailed sports car wouldn't have sprung to life without its predecessor, the 356. While phenomenal success of those rear-engine icons built the company, forays into the mid-engine configuration have played a significant part in establishing the brand's identity.

Watch the Porsche 911 R rip through the mountains

Thu, Mar 3 2016

A few days ago, the top-tier driver's Porsches, the 911 GT3 and GT3 RS, were the only game in town. Both are exclusively equipped with the technically excellent PDK, a dual-clutch gearbox virtually without equal. Of course, lots of folks, including Porsche die-hards, wanted to do it themselves, even if human shifts came at the expense of milliseconds of shift time. Porsche listened. You read all about the new 911 R two days ago when it was announced (if not, watch the video and then dive into the particulars at that link). It's an unabashed gift to that vocal minority. The folks that wanted a manual GT3 got one, and it's better than that. It's a throwback to the original 911 R, stripped of weight and unsightly aero bits like the massive rear wing of the GT3. There's even houndstooth-patterned cloth on the sport seats. It's a brilliant homage, without being overly retro. But how does it sound, and look in motion? See for yourself. We humbly suggest minding where the drool lands. Related Video: Porsche Coupe Performance Videos 911 porsche 911 r 911 r

Porsche 918 Spyder with Weissach package does 0-62 mph in 2.6 seconds

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

Porsche marketers are having a field day with the 918 Spyder after some last-minute tuning improved the car's performance. They now say that it's so fast it's already beaten itself. Let us explain: Using a Weissach package-equipped 918 as an example (which reduces the plug-in hybrid supercar's weight through the deletion of some interior items, more generous use of carbon fiber and magnesium wheels), the car's previous official 0-62 miles-per-hour time of 2.8 seconds has been cut to 2.6. Additionally, 0-124 mph takes 7.2 seconds and 0-186 mph is dispatched in 19.9 seconds, times that were reduced by half a second and 2.1 seconds, respectively.
In all-electric mode, a non-Weissach pack 918 does 0-62 mph in 6.2 seconds (with the package, 6.1 seconds), down from 6.9 seconds. Efficiency is also improved thanks to the final tuning. The New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) rating of a Weissach pack-equipped car equates to 94 miles per gallon, up three mpg compared to before. That's pretty good for a car with 887 horsepower!
Check out the press release below for more details on how Porsche's final tuning measures improved its flagship supercar.
