Porsche: Cayman Sport on 2040-cars

Im regrettably selling my 2008 Porsche Cayman S Sport, which is in very good condition inside and out. The Carfax is clean, and the car has never been in an accident, or had any insurance claims on it. The exterior is very clean, and the paint shines nicely. There are some minor rock chips, and one small ding over the left rear quarter panel that are barely noticeable. The interior is like in excellent condition, and still smells new. The car has been garaged its entire life, and has never been smoked in. The tires and brakes have less than 5000 miles in them, and all factory maintenance has been performed by the local Porsche dealership. The actual miles at time of purchase might be slightly higher since I am still driving the car on nice days. I will also include a genuine Porsche outdoor car cover in excellent condition that cost $300, and used on the rare occasion that the car was not garaged.In late 2008, Porsche introduced the limited edition Cayman S Sport. The Sport was a Cayman S packaged with many sport options to create an edgy/sporty Cayman S. Beyond sport options, the Cayman S Sport received new DME software maps created to work with the Porsche Sport Exhaust and a unique Twin Chamber Dual Output Tailpipe that supply the Cayman S Sport with 303 horsepower at 6,250 RPM, making it the first Cayman to break the 300 horsepower ceiling. These cars were strikingly different in appearance, available in special colors like the GT3 Orange and Green. The exterior also included other GT3 details like gloss black contrasting elements (side mirrors, vents, model insignia and 19 wheels). Add a special black side stripe that proudly displays the Cayman S script, reminiscent of the stripe worn by the 1973 Carrera RS, and it all comes together to give the Cayman S Sport an aggressive and sinister look.The Cayman S Sport was available in a limited number of colors, including the previously mentioned GT-3 Green & Orange which were not available on any other Caymans. The standard Black, Carrara White, Guards Red and Speed Yellow were available at no charge, or for $690 you could have one in Arctic Silver Metallic.The interior of the Cayman S Sport received many enhancements, including Alcantara trimmed steering wheel, gear shifter and hand brake. The hood over the instrument cluster was removed, many interior trim pieces were painted gloss black and the door sills were protected by stainless steel sill plates that wore the Cayman S Sport logo. The Cayman S Sport had a base price of $69,900, which was $10,800 more than a Cayman S. But the Cayman S Sport included many very expensive options that made the car an excellent value. Because only 700 of these were made for the entire worldwide market, and because this model was the last and best of the 987.1 cars to ever be produced, they are likely to hold their value very well.

Porsche 924 GTP restored for coupe's 40th birthday
Thu, Apr 28 2016The Porsche 924 is among the most unappreciated models from the German brand, but it's still an important part of Porsche's history as the predecessor to the 944 and eventually the 968. To mark the 40th anniversary of the sport coupe's 1976 introduction, Porsche Great Britain is restoring an important member of the vehicle's legacy by bringing a 1980 Porsche 924 GTP racecar back to its former glory. This car was among three factory-backed 924 GTPs that raced in the 1980 24 Hours of Le Mans. After the event, the car immediately went into Porsche's museum collection, and it has been there ever since. The missing body parts and rough paint still show the wear and tear of racing around the clock in France. The 924 GTP featured all the tricks you would expect would be needed to take the road-going coupe to the track. Porsche cut the weight down to 2,050 pounds, and the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine made 315 horsepower and 282 pound-feet of torque. Power went to the rear wheels through a five-speed gearbox. Noted Porsche collector Magnus Walker learns what a TED Talk is firsthand
Wed, 23 Jul 2014Porsche collector Magnus Walker has the name and looks of a Viking, but once he starts talking about his life story and what drives him, he's an absolutely fascinating guy. Walker recently gave a Ted Talk at a Tedx conference at UCLA and claimed he didn't really understand the idea behind the speeches. You would never know it, though. Walker is as gifted a speaker as he is a talented restorer of some seriously cool Porsches.
Walker's talk is titled "Go with Your Gut Feeling," and it amounts to his autobiography. He recounts his birth in England, dropping out of school at 15 and moving to the US at 19. Once in Los Angeles, he started selling second-hand clothes and grew it into a fashion business.
Of course, what makes him interesting to us is his passion for Porsches. He fell in love with them when he saw a white 911 as a child at the Earl's Court Motor Show in England, but Walker waited until the '90s to buy his first one. From there he started racing and eventually restoring them. Since the documentary Urban Outlaw about him was released, Magnus has become famous for the love of the brand.
Porsche to reveal Cayman GT4 Clubsport racer in LA
Tue, Oct 6 2015Aspiring professionals and amateur gentleman racers alike will want to swing by the Porsche booth at the LA Auto Show this year. That's where the German automaker will be revealing its new entry-level racer. The Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport is nearly stock, but features some choice upgrades to cater its disposition toward the racetrack. Power comes from the same 3.8-liter flat-six as the road-going Cayman GT4 (shown above), producing the same 385 horsepower. It ditches the manual, however, for the faster-shifting DCT (which we expect will soon be offered on the showroom version as well), aided by a mechanical locking differential. It features the front suspension setup from the 911 GT3 Cup car and beefed-up steel brakes. It's also got a roll cage inside and a racing bucket with a six-point harness. All told, the whole package weighs 2,866 pounds – making it a good hundred pounds lighter than the street-legal model on which it's so closely based. Once homologation is complete, customers will be able to field it in series like the Pirelli World Challenge, Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, and Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy. Porsche has yet to release images, but we'll be sure to update this post as soon as they're available – so watch this space. New race car for motorsport newcomers Porsche develops Cayman GT4 Clubsport Stuttgart. Using the lightweight Cayman GT4 as the basis, Porsche Motorsport has developed a near-standard racing version. The Cayman GT4 Clubsport celebrates its world premiere at the Los Angeles Motor Show on 18 November. Sales of the 283 kW (385 hp) mid-engine racer for motorsport newcomers also start on this date. Just like its race-worthy production sibling, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport is powered by a 3.8-litre flat-six engine. The racing version features a Porsche double clutch transmission with shift paddles on the steering wheel and a mechanical rear-axle locking differential. The lightweight suspension strut front axle is taken from its big 911 GT3 Cup brother, which is campaigned in Porsche's 20 one-make championships around the world. The impressive racing brake system is fitted with steel brake discs all round measuring 380-millimetre in diameter. Tipping the scales at just 1,300 kilograms, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport, delivered ex-works with a welded-in safety cage, a racing bucket seat as well as a six-point harness, is truly lightweight.
