Watch the Porsche 911 GT3 RS become Lego reality

Lego might be a child's toy, but it enjoys a large following among adults. This has bred highly advanced, detailed creations, some of which take hours to build. Like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Technic kit. The 2,704-piece kit's detail is remarkable. But the sheer array of parts doesn't really explain how long it takes to put together. For one, Brick Builder's 25-minute video, embedded above, is a time lapse. Yes, a 25-minute time lapse. It shows an assembly guide with 856 individual steps that looks like it's about two inches thick. There are less detailed owner's manuals. The video itself is mesmerizing. Watching each individual part come together into recognizable components is just like watching an actual car being assembled, only it's plastic instead of metal. In fact, guessing what the components will become is a big part of the fun. If you just want to see the body come together, you'll want to fast forward to segment three, around the 16-minute mark. I have been strapped behind the iconic Momo Prototipo steering wheel for a little more than an hour, all windows down as I carve my way up a rugged canyon during an unusually warm Southern California evening, and I am overwhelmed with emotion. Last week was flush with interesting new vehicle debuts, led by the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. This crossover is entering straight into the heart of one of the world's most competitive automotive segments, and it's doing so with a fresh sense of style and a brace of new technologies. Our readers are clearly intrigued – the Santa Fe was the biggest news story of the last week on these online pages. It's fitting that a crossover generated a lot more interest than a traditional wagon, though we don't really have to be happy about it. That means it can't tow as much as some other trucks, but it also means the Ridgeline drives better than any of its more truckish competitors. It's the Swiss army knife of pickup trucks.
