Force India F1 driver Nico Hulkenberg will drive a Porsche at Le Mans

Sahara Force India Formula One driver Nico Hulkenberg is officially part of the Porsche factory team for next year's 24 Hours of Le Mans; the last time a current F1 driver got permission from his team to compete in the world's biggest endurance race was in 2009 when Toro Rosso let Sebastien Bourdais pilot for Peugeot. That will make it an even busier May and June for Hulkenberg, who will get to know the 919 Hybrid in race trim by driving the 6 Hours of Spa on May 2. He'll follow that with two F1 races in May, then do the Le Mans practice day on May 31, race for Force India at the Canadian Grand Prix on June 7, be in action for Porsche at Le Mans the next weekend, then back in a Force India the following weekend in Austria. Hulkenberg is the first driver to be named for Porsche's third LMP1 in next year's race, and we already know that former F1 colleague Mark Webber will be in one of the other cars. The other two drivers joining the German haven't been named yet, but speculation is that Porsche GT drivers in the manufacturer team are on the shortlist. A flat-six engine pumping away behind the driver defines the Porsche brand for many people, whether they are buying a Boxster, Cayman or 911. If you want to appreciate the sound and fury concentrated in the rear of these German sports cars even more, then take a tour of the company's 911 engine factory in Zuffenhausen, Germany, to see the work that goes into each one. We're long past the days of automotive assembly lines being deafening, dirty affairs, but it's still somewhat shocking to see just how sterile the plant in Zuffenhausen is. Each person wears a matching gray jumpsuit and gloves, and there's not a drop of grease of them. While the components are constantly coming down the line, there doesn't appear to be much of a rush. It's just a slow, steady movement that gives workers time to complete their appointed tasks. At least in this video, the employees don't even seem to talk to each other; the only sound is the hum of the plant or whir of tools. Behold the glory of unobscured Porsche 911 Turbo bumpers

Porsche apparently sees absolutely no reason to hide the changes for the 911's upcoming refresh on any of the models. After releasing official photos of the standard version ahead of the debut, here are the Germans testing the revised 911 Turbo S at the Nurburgring with no camouflage at all. The exterior tweaks are tiny enough that maybe the company thinks no one would notice. The front bumper receives tiny adjustments, including the LED lights lengthened in the lower air intakes. The headlights are also slightly tweaked, and the taillights are the wider units from the rest of the updated range. The rear bumper receives some restyled vents at each corner, as well. The standard 911 is rumored to receive a new family of smaller displacement, turbocharged flat-six engines as soon as this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, and that leaves the Turbo in a weird place. Forced induction holds a special place in the model's lineup by denoting some of the most powerful versions. With that exclusivity possibly on the way out, Porsche might now have to find a way to keep the Turbo badge special. Related Video:
