I purchased this amazing SUV from a dealer in Texas in December of 2010 with a mileage of 45,070. I selected Texas as I didn't want salt exposure. This SUV has avoided salt and other Winter road chemicals. I had it professionally inspected prior to purchase, then fully gone over and caught up on all maintenances upon arrival. I've driven the vehicle approximate 16,000 miles over the past 3.5 years, thus the current mileage of ~61,100. As I live out in the country, the car has seen almost entirely highway use only during my ownership; no misuse, no racing, no heavy traffic idling. The best highway mileage I've been able to obtain is 22mpg going 63 mph. Please know what you're getting into with a Cayenne S. My opinion, not everyone is cut out to handle this SUV. This is a serious, very high powered, high performance vehicle with quirks that all 1st generation Cayennes have. I found that having the Durametric software was essential for keeping maintenance costs low. But on the other hand, no other brand offers continuous driving pleasure like Porsche; for me, most vehicles become wearisome after awhile. Not this one. Each drive, you feel the aliveness and soul of this thing. This SUV is the best all- around vehicle I've ever owned (a Porsche 928 last held that title), and I'm not very happy about having to sell it. Condition Statement Condition is all around excellent in all regards, with only very minor signs of use. No major accidents. No computer error codes. Engine runs perfectly. Vehicle drives perfectly. Interior is extremely clean. Air conditioning works. The flaws I'm aware of are: (1) The previous owner had a minor parking lot fender bender. This flaw was pointed out to me during my pre-purchase inspection, and I had it professionally examined by my Porsche dealership upon the vehicle's arrival. No significant damage. Appears to have only been repaired with a front bumper respray. I could not even see it myself until Porsche showed me, that the driver side fender is ever so slightly out of 100% correct position. Ignore it. You can't see it unless you really look for it. (2) Rear bumper below tailgate has a small patch of paint missing from when I misloaded an object. (3) The odometer reset button has to be pushed a certain way in order for it to work right. Work I've had done: - new driveshaft - new front brakes + rotors + multiple brake fluid flushing - new brake master cylinder
- stainless steel brake lines
- full servicing including all fluids when purchased and regular maintenance since
- all Porsche campaigns caught up on - alignment checked when purchased. - 2nd key purchased (but not yet programmed) - other odds and ends (I've all records of work I had done). - call me if you want to go over my service history in detail (receipt by receipt). Who am I and what is my reputation?
I'm a private seller selling my own cars that I've owned for pleasure driving only. I'm neither a dealer nor a backyard mechanic who fixes up cars and resells them. While not a mechanic by trade, I've been working on cars my whole life, in later years restoring along with professionals several early Porsches and a few other classics. It's safe to say that I'm a knowledgeable auto enthusiast. Although most of my sales on eBay have to do with computers and electronics, I've sold some cars here as well, so my strongest references are the feedback received on those transactions -- at least 3 of which you can still see if scroll through my feedback: " Excellent transaction... would buy another car without hesitation or concern! Drive-up bank robbery perpetrated with Cayenne and WRX
Sat, 14 Sep 2013Thieves carried out what appears to be a movie-script-perfect robbery of a bank in Sydney, Australia early on Friday morning, using two stolen high-performance vehicles in the process.
At around 11:15 AM local time, in near mid-day light, reports say that two men in masks smashed into the side of a Westpac bank in a confirmed-stolen black Porsche Cayenne. The perpetrators were armed with sledgehammers according to witness reports, and took only about five minutes to take what they were after inside of the bank.
The rapid getaway was executed in a Subaru WRX, also confirmed as a stolen vehicle, while witnesses snapped camera phone images of the illicit goings on. One Twitter user posted a few of the images to his social media feed; you can take a look at them in our small gallery below. Follow on down for the full video report, from The Sydney Morning Herald.
2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS looks even better in the flesh [w/video]
Wed, Mar 4 2015You should never, ever, ever buy a new Porsche 911 GT3 when it first comes out. That's not to say it's somehow bad. It's just that the debut of a new GT3 is, almost without fail, followed by a GT3 RS. GT3: good. GT3 RS: better. This is the latest hot 911, and it comes out shooting with a 4.0-liter flat-six, complete with 500 horsepower and 338 pound-feet of torque. As we explained earlier this morning, sitting behind the wheel of the GT3 RS means 60 miles per hour is just 3.1 seconds away. That is, frankly, a hilariously fast time for a rear-drive, naturally aspirated vehicle with just 500 hp. Consider the new Ferrari 488 GTB, if you will – it has an extra 160 horsepower, (probably) two turbochargers and two more cylinders, and it's only a tenth of a second faster to 62 than the Porsche is to 60. Any Porsche worth its salt will be as rapid in the corners as it is on the straights, and the GT3 RS is no different. It managed to trim five seconds off the standard GT3's Nurburgring time, thanks in part to Porsche's dedication to weight reduction. It's down 22 pounds on the standard car, thanks to magnesium and carbon fiber components. On top of that, Porsche pushed the aerodynamics with a track-ready rear wing and a fairly substantial front splitter. Of course, you know all of this, because we covered it this morning. Still, it seemed worth recapping as we delivered our very own, live-from-Geneva photos of the 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Take a look. Related Video: Porsche 911 GT3 RS: the Ultimate 911 for High-Performance Drivers Atlanta. The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS breaks down the barrier between road-going sports cars and race cars. It is equipped with the maximum amount of motorsport technology that is currently possible in a street-legal 911 suitable for everyday driving. Extensive modifications to its drivetrain, aerodynamics, and lightweight design take performance to an even higher level than the 911 GT3. With a Nuerburgring Nordschleife lap time of seven minutes and 20 seconds, the new 911 GT3 RS surpasses the 911 GT3 by five seconds, making it the fastest current generation 911 on the famous German racetrack. The 911 GT3 RS is celebrating its world premiere at the 2015 Geneva International Motor Show. Motorsport expertise is the driving force behind this superior performance. The 911 GT3 RS is powered by a four-liter six-cylinder engine developing 500 hp and 338 lb.-ft. of torque, combined with a specially developed PDK transmission.
Dan Gurney, legendary all-American racer, dies at 86
Mon, Jan 15 2018American racer Dan Gurney, who raced and won in Formula One, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, IndyCar and NASCAR in the 1960s and who started a trend by spraying champagne on the victory podium, died in California on Sunday. He was 86. The news was announced by his wife, Evi, and family in a statement. "With one last smile on his handsome face, Dan drove off into the unknown just before noon today, January 14, 2018," they said. "In deepest sorrow, with gratitude in our hearts for the love and joy you have given us during your time on this earth, we say, 'Godspeed.'" The family said Gurney, whose Formula One career spanned one of the most glamorous and dangerous periods of the sport's history from 1959 to 1970, had died of complications from pneumonia. He won seven IndyCar races, five in NASCAR and four in F1, placing second twice in the Indianapolis 500. He raced in multiple series concurrently throughout much of his career. He was the first of just three drivers to win races in four series — sports cars, Indycars, Formula One and NASCAR. The feat was later replicated by Mario Andretti and Joan Pablo Montoya. At the height of his popularity, in 1964, Car and Driver promoted the idea of electing him president. He retired from racing in 1970 but returned for a NASCAR race in 1980. Between 1965 and 2012, his All American Racers, which he founded with Carroll Shelby and Goodyear, built 158 race cars and is the only constructor to have built a winning F1 Grand Prix car, a winning Indy 500 car and a winning Sports Car.
