1999 - Porsche Boxster on 2040-cars
Hayward, California, United States
This 1999 Porsche Boxster will amaze you at multiple levels: It moves very aggressively, but with precision. It draws attention at every boulevard stop, while cruising PCH or on the FRWY at rush hour, while those around you should have both their eyes on the road. I promise . . . you'll get more attention in a week than in my BMW X5 in 6 months. The car runs as designed, the roof does not leak and it stops on a dime. I am selling the car because I have 3 children. I bought it as gift to myself, for turning 50, but it does not fit my family lifestyle. The kids LOVE it and so do I, but I can only drive with one at a time. In addition, I work a few miles from home and as a result, the car sits idle in my garage with an appetite for the road it well deserves. I don't trust it in the company parking lot, I prefer to keep it free of dings, nor do I care for it sitting in the sun with stuff falling from the pine trees. I have pampered it since day one . . . thank YOU!! power seats, power windows, power locks, power rear view mirrors, power roof(top down-top up), cruise control, am/fm radio with cd player, leather seats, 5 speed manual transmission, black inside, outside and above. no accidents, clear title, clean car fax, newer tires, almost new interior floor mats, clear interior wind deflector, clear rear vinyl window with a very smooth idle, acceleration and overall performance. Please ask any questions that come to mind. Dear tuesdaycameras, Presently own a 911s just a great car, saw yours and am very interested, a few questions, the engine, trans, and driveline, any issues? Oil leaks? Any oil spots on garage floor? The trans any issues up and down while shifting? Any issues with the drive train any noises? Maintenance records available? Has a smog inspection been done within the last 90 days? The driver seat can't quite tell but looks cracked? And as far as driving, mostly in the city or open road?-tx - mkerns8gnh Yes, the driver's car seat shows signs of fatigue, but that was done by the previous owner who was handicapped. He drove it for a small time and found it to be uncomfortable. The engine, trans and drive train are free of any issues. No real oil spots on the garage floor, but then you can inspect the garage floor firsthand. There are no formal maintenance records, because I have a private mechanic: I own a 2001 BMW X5, a 2010 Prius, a 2005 VW Passat, a 1965 Chevy Pick Up, 1991 Mercedes, a 1956 Ford Pick up, along with the Boxster in question,so taking them to a Dealer is not a practical option I can afford. The drive train is free of noises and it shifts up and down smoothly free of any odd sounds. No smog has been done recently, but I can provide that upon sale. I have only driven it on the highway to destinations away from home with my 77 year old mother or kids to grab dinner or a frozen yogurt by the beach. I don't waste mileage cruising around locally, instead I use my 1991 Mercedes to do the bulk of my travels. The Mercedes just reached 300,000 miles on Friday October 3rd and you can use this as testimony towards the mechanical condition of the vehicles I own. Your welcome to come by and check it out for yourself . . . thank Y O U !! I have attached some photos of my 1991 300CE Mercedes with a proud 300,000 miles, thanks again for your interest. FREE! LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 and Agera R take to Assen
Tue, 10 Jun 2014It's the show-down (sort of) we've all been waiting for. The battle of the hybrid hypercars from the performance powerhouses of Europe: Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. No one publication has managed to get their hands on all three just yet, but this video has - and with a Koenigsegg Agera R thrown in for good measure.
The video was shot by our (unrelated) Dutch compatriots at Autoblog.nl at the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands. The track has played host to Champ Cars and all manner of racing bikes, but this could be the ultimate grid of actual production machinery that's ever lined up behind its start/finish line. Shame the weather was rainy and this unsurpassed array of supercars weren't really racing - more showing off for the crowds. But what a show it was. Scope out the footage in the video below.
Porsche 911 RSR stops just long enough to have its photo taken
Tue, 04 Mar 2014When it comes to Porsche and its rapidly escalating endurance racing program, all eyes may be on the new 919 Hybrid - and with good reason: that's the vehicle with which Porsche will be challenging the likes of Audi and Toyota for wins in the top-tier LMP1 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship and at Le Mans. But it's the 911 RSR that does and will continue to form the backbone of the factory's effort.
The 470-horsepower racing version of the road-going 911 took a one-two finish in its class at Le Mans last year, and also won its class at the Daytona 24 this past January as well. This year Porsche will field two of them in the WEC, another two in the United SportsCar Championship here in the US and will sell countless more to customer racing teams that will undoubtedly continue to rack up trophies in racing series around the world. This, then, might be a unique chance to see one standing still. Check it out in our gallery of live images above from the Geneva Motor Show.
Porsche offering short-term loans to Macan waitlisters
Wed, 02 Jul 2014Walk into a Porsche dealer today, place an order for a Macan and you'll be looking at a waiting period of six months or more before you can expect delivery. That may be common enough for high-end European automakers, but the Macan is meant to lure new buyers to the brand, and the waitlist could be enough to deter them from sticking around.
The solution? Offer to lease them a Boxster or Cayman until their new Macan arrives. Shorter in term that the usual new-car lease, these six-month terms are designed to keep buyers from turning their backs, all the while experiencing the kind of vehicle Porsche does best.
Of course it doesn't hurt that the dealer then gets a used sports car to sell again once the short-term lease is up. And we wouldn't be surprised to see some buyers asking to hold on to their mid-engined sports car for a little longer, either.
