Title/ownership:

This porsche has a salvage Maryland title from some very minor damage that was done to the rear deck lid, tonneau cover, and taillight (See before pictures).  I believe a tree branch fell on it during one of the summer storms we had here in VA.  I have since replaced the rear deck lid, tonneau cover and taillight and the car looks as good as new (see current pictures).  There was no structural or hidden damage done to the car.  The new pieces match perfectly and since the replacement pieces were silver as well, the undersides are silver, so it looks like the car never had any damage.  I have the original window sticker and bill of sale for the car and it looks to have been a one owner Boxster sold from Heishmans Porsche in Arlington Va and has stayed in Alexandria VA its whole life with maintenance being done at Porsche of Arlington.

Condition:

The body is very clean with no significant dings or dents that I can see.  The front bumper has a couple marks on the lower valance (see picture), but otherwise there is really no major imperfections to report.  The engine has great miles at 58k and starts right up with no smoke or leaking.  Clutch feels strong and the transmission shifts smoothly.  The interior is pretty clean with a little sun damage especially on the steering wheel, but with no tears or rips on the leather seats or carpeting.   The top looks almost new with a clear back window.  The sun visors still have their mirror doors and the center console hinge is NOT broken, both very common problems in these Porsches.  Rims are 17" with no significant curb rash and the tires have more than 50% tread life on them.  The keyless entry works great and there are three keys (two with remotes and one valet). There are no warning lights and everything on the car works.  I'm certain the car could be driven across country without issue.  It has a current VA inspection sticker on the windshield.  Its just a solid little car.

Options:

The car has all the standard options as well as Traction control, Cruise control, and the dash computer.  These options are pretty rare on the 986 Boxster and especially the traction control comes in handy on wet or snowy roads.  Having three working keys is also pretty rare.

Terms:

The car is sold as is where is with no warrantee  express or implied.  The car is sold with a Maryland Salvage title.  I require a $500 deposit within 48 hours of the close of the auction with the remaining funds due within one week.  The buyer will receive a Bill of Sale, title, mileage notification form, and salvage title notification form.  The car is located in Alexandria VA and is sold through a Utah dealership.  Any additional paperwork needed for the buyers state will be provided.

Porsche responds to PETA after tiger cub displays at Macan dealership events

Tue, 13 May 2014

Porsche has found itself in the good graces of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which is pretty odd considering it's the only brand we know of that offers leather-lined vents. The activist group is praising the sports car manufacturer's handling of reports that some of its dealerships were set to feature tigers or tiger cubs at the local launch events for the Macan. Apparently, "macan" is the Malay word for tiger, which explains the connection between a highly touted crossover and a jungle cat.
A Tampa, FL dealership already displayed some three-week-old cubs, with PETA saying tigers for display should be at least eight to 12 weeks old. Even then, the group argues that the animals can suffer due to stress, malnourishment, neglect and a lack of veterinary care. The group brings up legal concerns, as well, arguing that if one of the cubs bit a customer, the dealership could be held liable (we're no big cat experts, but it seems unlikely a three-week-old cub could do that much damage).
Porsche's PR department quickly reacted to PETA's claims, with Vice President of Marketing Andre Oosthuizen, telling the group that Porsche is concerned about the "welfare of any animal, large or small, wild or domesticated." Oosthuizen's statements were reported in an official PETA blog.

Porsche 960 could come with quad-turbo flat-eight engine

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Getting a bead on the target that is the so-called Porsche 960 is not easy, as the target keeps moving. First labeled the 960, then the 961, and now back to being called the 960, it is Porsche's take on a supercar specifically aimed at Ferrari - the latest report in Automobile says that Porsche's internal moniker for it is "FeFi," which stands for "Ferrari Fighter." Because it is expected to cost as much as the top-tier V12 Ferrari, Porsche wants the engine solution to justify the price tag. That means, according to author Georg Kacher, a 3.9-liter, quad-turbo flat-eight engine with 650 horsepower.
Last summer, the engine was mooted to be a twin-turbo flat six. A few months later, the rumor was that it would use the 4.6-liter V8 from the 918 and have about 570 horsepower. This new mid-engine configuration would be quite the leap, giving the 960 more power than the 918 Spyder (pictured) and 911 GT2 RS, and utilize other tech features like four adjustable camshafts and "a complex multistage intake manifold." In this scenario, power would be run through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
Build materials are still slated to be a hodgepodge of materials including aluminum, steel, carbon fiber, titanium and magnesium. The boosted flat-eight, all-wheel drive and a 3,000-pound weight could get the 960 from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds. Since it is looking squarely at Ferrari, the idea that the 960 will be a "four-door coupe" can probably be put to rest. For now.

Porsche boss admits Panamera's style is offputting

Sat, 11 Oct 2014

"There have been some small mistakes and we will do it better. For example the design could be better." - Matthias Mueller.
The design of the Porsche Panamera has been divisive, to say the least. Pretty much any Porsche with four doors was going to draw the ire of enthusiasts, but the fast-back-style roofline, prominent curves and seemingly never-ending hood have particularly irked some brand loyalists.
