This is a 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo with 26,xxx original miles. I have many receipts from Porsche dealer oil changes, and other minor tune-ups, that show the mileage over time. I am the forth owner and have data on the other three owners. Lots of pictures can be found at the following web page:

https://sites.google.com/site/gregscarprojects/1988-porsche-944-turbo

The original owner had the car until 15K, and then sold it to a person who took mileage to 23K. The last owner held it the longest, while I purchased from his son. The 944 has a new Lindsey Racing exhaust, dual DMF chips, and Lindsey MAF conversion. It includes one really nice complete J&L Audio stereo system.

I paid a premium for the car because us was worth it. I completed a total fluid sub-system flush (transmission, brake lines, engine, water, power steering, etc).
The timing belt and AC compressor are new. Early on, the factory replaced the clutch. The shocks, wheels and tires are new too.
The brake pads and disks show no wear, looking like they came from the factory. I have all the receipts to show the service and parts.

Other than those modifications it is completely factory, except it has 330HP pulling hard and a Blast to Drive! The interior is completely beautiful with no blemishes. Every switch works and all the plastic/vinyl/fabric looks like new (nice and soft).

What can I say negative about the car? It has one blemish on the rear black plastic bumper and front headlight, and a small blemish on the rear fiberglass under-spoiler (all have been touched up now). I also see just a tiny touch of road rash on the passenger's front-side rear splash guard(not anything you can see unless you really look hard).

The only major issue is that the car had a totally beautify repaint job done a few years back. The painter did a great job hiding any idea that it has been repainted. Read on the web and learn why paint was not good back in those days.

The underside is just beautiful as you can see from the pictures. Any person can tell the car was not driven in the rain. All of the original white part number stickers are in place on the wires, etc, as are the red paint markers by the factory workers who checked for quality.

What else will go with this car? The ORIGINAL window sticker of $42,000, and lots and lots of car articles from the 80's and 90's time frame. I have the few original parts that were removed to install the upgrades, as well as a COMPLETE set of Dealer Service Manuals. The manuals are a complete detail of the car nut-to-nut and connector-to-connector.

I also just found an original brochure for the Porsche 1988 944 series that is really cool to read (the brochure says the 1988 Turbo 944 was the first mid-level premium sports car to get dual air bags and anti-lock brakes!)

A few of other things to note from the pictures is the cool beginner's service guide VCR tape. I burned a DVD of the tape and it comes with the car. Next, the key-fob's light up nice and bright when you press the button. Finally, do not to forget your hats!

Please take the time to look at all the pictures and check out that dyno result of HP to the rear wheels! This is a perfect, reliable, sports car that cost so much less than anything in its collector car class. The care has almost a perfect 50-50 weight ratio and that is why it is so hard to find one that is not trashed. If you look on car sale lists you will find many 944's with over 200k miles on them just to prove the reliability and near bullet-proof engines.

Porsche tuners 9ff, SpeedArt going bankrupt

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

Times are tough in Europe right now, and that unfortunately has reaped disastrous consequences for some of its smallest niche automakers. Gumpert, Wiesmann, Artega and Lola have all filed for bankruptcy this year, and it appears that tuners are not immune to the tough times, either.
Word coming in from across the pond suggests that 9ff and SpeedArt - two of the biggest names in Porsche tuning - have filed for bankruptcy as well. 9ff is best known for the GT9, a radical hypercar barely based on the 911, while SpeedArt was once of the foremost tuners of Porsches.
Fortunately there are still plenty of tuners ready to take a wrench to your Elfen, but the reported demise of these two makes the market a little bit smaller and - for Porsche enthusiasts - maybe the world a little bit lonelier, too.

Jay Leno plugs himself into Porsche's 918 Spyder

Mon, 24 Mar 2014

As one of the greatest sports car manufacturers of all time, when Porsche puts out a new, ultra-exclusive hypercar, enthusiasts tend to stand up and take note. Jay Leno is no exception, and now, the funnyman is finally getting his time with awesome 918 Spyder.
With his 1963 Porsche 356 and his 2005 Carrera GT flanking a Liquid Silver 918, Leno takes us through the basics of this plug-in hybrid roadster alongside Daniel Eastman of Porsche North America. Following the chat, Leno and Eastman take the German-plated car through the streets of California, testing it in a number of modes and even going on a short, all-electric freeway cruise.
If you're looking to learn more about the 918, or to just here its glorious gas engine at work, you'll want to scroll down and take a look at the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage.

Weekly Recap: Mazda's rotary revival ignites Tokyo Motor Show

Sat, Oct 31 2015

Forty-eight years ago Mazda pioneered rotary engines in the Cosmo Sport. Mazda then honed the technology, won with it on the racetrack, and made it one of its signature features. If you're an enthusiast, rotary was a reason you like Mazda. It's a great part of the company's past. But until this week, that's exactly what we thought it was. History. That all changed with the reveal of the RX-Vision concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, which reignited the passions of the Mazda faithful. Suddenly, rotary was no longer a relic. The rotary concept shown in Japan was a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car wrapped in the company's latest Kodo design language. It's powered by a Skyactiv-R unit (R for rotary), though specs were not disclosed. Mass production is "currently on hold," Mazda said, maintaining it never stopped development of rotary technology, even after the demise of the RX-8. Beyond that, we know nothing, other than the optimistic statement Mazda offered that: the "RX-Vision represents a vision of the future that Mazda hopes to one day make into reality." Put simply: we agree. OTHER NEWS & NOTES: Subaru previews next-gen Impreza While the Mazda concept was the headliner from Tokyo, Subaru's Impreza design study also stood out. The five-door concept is a signpost for the look of next-generation Impreza. It blends sportiness with functionality, and it's wrapped in a striking shade of 'high-luminance silver.' The fenders are flared to signal Subaru's all-wheel-drive capability, and the front has futuristic headlights that look like something from an Audi E-Tron concept. While most of this will be toned down in production, the concept suggests an elevated style for the Impreza, which is due as a 2017 model. Porsche adds potent GTS model to 2017 Macan line Porsche is giving the Macan crossover the GTS treatment, which will start at $68,195 when it goes on sale in March. GTS translates to more power, a sportier suspension, and interior and exterior design cues that sharpen the looks and reflexes of one of the most athletic SUVs on the market. Porsche recalibrated the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 from the Macan S to make 360 hp and 369 lb-ft, (up from 340 hp and 339 lb-ft in the S). It teams with a seven-speed PDK gearbox and all-wheel drive. An air suspension is standard. The body features a slew of black accents, and the standard 20-inch RS Spyder wheels are done up in a shade of satin black. The cabin gets leather, Alcantara, and GTS logos.
