1986 Porsche 930 M491 3.3L Turbo Slantnose Convertible Conversion. Outstanding Condition! NO RESERVE
A meticulously detailed conversion with all steel slant nose front fenders, box rockers and rear fender vents on an incredible low mile Rare Porsche Turbo Look M491 Factory Wide Body which is registered in the Porsche Turbo Look Registry. All original turbo metal flares, turbo brakes, turbo suspension and factory 7J and 9J Fuch wheels. This Porsche received a 3.3L turbo engine and I had an engine out service with all receipts. It turns 325 HP with a K27 turbo and 1 bar boost spring, Porsche 964 style Blownsix intercooler, dual stainless Powerhaus exhaust with 4 inch outlets and Fabspeed fresh air intake. It has the short shift and been lowered to Euro specs.
The K27 turbo spools up and pins you to your seat through all four speeds with no turbo lag and the sound is all Porsche! Loaded with extras including: RUF polyurethane front spoiler and oil cooler, factory Porsche 930S leather steering wheel with crest, factory Euro Porsche center console with CD holders and gauges (not connected), custom Porsche "turbo" embossed pedals, updated (87-89) rear center reflector, Momo shift knob and Kenwood eight speaker CD and MP3 stereo with remote.
All owner’s manuals, tools, jack and tire air compressor in excellent condition are included. All receipts since I have owned. Driven only in summer and garaged with dust cover (included). Nonsmoker (lighter and ashtray like new). The convertible top and boot are like new and the rear window is clear. Two sets of front floor mats including originals and velour trunk liner. Two sets of ignition keys and Porsche wheel lock keys. Spare tire is pristine.
32,692 miles and it shows. The pictures speak for themselves! A real head turner everywhere you go. Meticulously maintained and taken care of. The car is detailed to perfection and all the rubber trim, whale tail and bumper guards are like new and show no wear. The interior including top, visors, dash, door panels and rear seats show exceptionally well and the velour carpets are like new. The paint shows beautifully with very few imperfections. It is easily a 9+ out of 10. The tires are new with little wear and the 7J and 9J turbo rims still have the original valve stem supports.
Engine out service included all new seals, hoses, fuel filter, warm up regulator, oil sensor, engine sound pad and all fresh fluids. No leaks! New Euro Interstate battery. Over $6700 in receipts.
The branded title was not as much an issue with me as this Porsche was in such great condition. I have documentation from the Washington State Patrol verifying that the salvage report was due to an insurance theft recovery. The car is laser straight. The 3.2 engine, hood/turbo tail, wheels and front seats were stolen. The front seats could have a re-dye. I have owned for almost seven years and it has always been garaged and only driven in the summer months. In addition, the air conditioner is not connected (it’s a convertible). The 1986-1989 Porsche air cooled turbo bodied cars, experts agree, were the best ever built as driver’s input was direct and pure. I am a mature owner and a PCA member and I am meticulous with my Porsche. I looked well over two years before I purchased this Porsche. The condition is outstanding and the conversion was done to perfection and I am confident that it will bid accordingly. I welcome inspections. The 930S license plate goes with a Washington purchase. Additional pictures upon request.

Porsche planning Cayman GT4 racer
Fri, 10 Oct 2014To say that Porsche is big in racing is like saying that Warren Buffett dabbles in mergers and acquisitions. But while it fields the 919 Hybrid at Le Mans and in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the bulk of its racing activities are undertaken by private teams that buy customer racecars from the factory. Those in turn are largely based on the 911, but the latest intel from the motor racing world indicates that Zuffenhausen is planning a more accessible customer race car.
The new, more affordable competition car is to be based on the Cayman and built to GT4 specifications, slotting in below the 911-based GT3 Cup, GT3 R and RSR. Autosport reports that Porsche has already developed a prototype and will shortly commence testing. Details are scarce at the moment, but the Cayman GT4 would seem to compete against the likes of the Aston Martin Vantage N24, Nissan 370Z Nismo GT4 and Maserati GranTurismo MC. It will also likely help Porsche foster enthusiasm for a potential road version that's already been spotted undergoing testing. Previous GT4 racing conversions of the Cayman, like the one pictured above, were carried out by third-party racing constructors not recognized by the factory.
Porsche may not be the only one showing interest in the category, however. BMW is said to similarly be considering a GT4-spec version of its M235i Racing model to compete in the same class, taking the place of the defunct M3 GT4 as the Bavarian marque's entry-level customer racing car.
Will the Mission E be the world's first must-have EV?
Fri, Feb 5 2016The Porsche Mission E concept was recently green-lit for production and has a tentative production date just before the end of the decade. With the recent onslaught of all-electric technology, the question remains: Which automaker will release the first must have all-electric EV? Tesla has clearly gained experience in testing the worldwide appetite for luxury, six-figure EVs, having sold its 100,000th vehicle in just three years and six months. But it remains to be seen if automakers can truly manufacture the ultimate green driving machine. Audi has shown its R8 e-tron but acknowledged that it will be produced in only limited quantities. On the other end of the spectrum, vehicles like the Chevy Bolt and BMW i8 are being produced for mass consumption, but will they satisfy the enthusiast who is looking for more than a commuter car? Tesla's Model S has certainly raised eyebrows and collected accolades with "ludicrous" level straight-line performance, but how well will the vehicle stand up to long-term ownership for enthusiasts? Porsche has dismissed any notions of autonomous driving in its vehicles, suggesting that it will try to stay close to its high-performance roots. This would seem to suggest that despite all the forecasted performance cred of the Mission E – 582 horsepower, 0–60 in 3.5 seconds, and a 310-mile range – potential buyers may not be getting the latest and greatest in gee-whiz-bang autonomous technology. And while Porsche has offered that future iterations of its 911 and 718 may in fact use hybrid-assisted drivetrains, the execution of a true, mass-produced, all-electric sports sedan remains to be seen. One thing is for certain, unlike start-ups like Tesla, the larger, more established manufacturers have larger budgets and more time to invest in R&D. Consumers have raised expectations from the more mature automakers in terms of reliability and the overall finish of their products. The arrival of the Mission E production car may introduce us to electric sports sedans that emphasize performance over efficiency while still eliminating its carbon footprint. Consumer Reports declares most and least loved cars [w/video]
Wed, Dec 3 2014Consumer Reports is crunching the numbers from its annual owner-satisfaction survey, and part of that process is finding out how attached drivers are to their cars. CR simply asks readers of models up to three years old if they would buy the same vehicle again in light of their entire ownership experience, and tallies the results. After looking at the responses for about 350,000 vehicles, it turns out that people really love a certain California-built, electrically powered luxury sedan. That's right, this year's the overall winner was the Tesla Model S with a whopping 98 percent of owners saying they would purchase another one (the Model S also won this award last year, with 99 percent satisfaction). The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray came in a close second with 95 percent of drivers hoping to park another one in their garage. A few models weren't quite so favored, though. The Nissan Versa Sedan was the least loved model among its owners; a mere 42 percent said that they would purchase another. The aging Jeep Compass didn't do much better, with just 43 percent of drivers willing to buy the softroader again. On average, about 70 percent of owners say they would buy their car again, and only four cars ranked below 50 percent in CR's findings. Check out the video above to see some of the winners and losers in a few of CR's categories. If you're a subscriber, you can check out the full list on its website.
