Up for auction is this "Exceptionally Rare" 1995 Porsche 928gts.  This was the final year of production for the Porsche 928gts.  Ferdinand Porsche (owner of the company) reportedly drove one of these cars.  The color is "Polar Silver."  It has a black leather interior.  It also has an electric sunroof.  There were only 77 1995 Porsche 928gts cars produced.  This car is Production #13 of 77.  It is Serial #73.  Only 9 of the 77 cars produced came in the color "Polar Silver."  Only 6 of those 9 cars came in with the Automatic Transmission.  It has 72871 miles.  The engine is a 345 HP, 5.4L 32 valve V8. This car is in "amazing" condition and has a lot of extras you won't find on any other Porsche 928gts.

This car comes with Chromed Techart wheels (Germany) & centercaps.  The front wheels are 8.5 x 18.  The rear wheels are 10.5 x 18.  They were both purchased and professionally chromed by "Wheel Enhancement" out of California.  The wheels have four (4) Michelin Pilot Sport wheels on them with less than 600 miles on them.  The front tires are 225/40 ZR18's.  The rears are 295/30 ZR18's.  The rear tires are very wide and completely underneath the body with no rub issues on the front or rear.  This gives the car a very powerful and menacing appearance.  It is a very cool look!  I get compliments on this car every time I take it out in public.

The soundsystem includes a Alpine CDA9885 radio/CD player, and it is set up with an IPOD connecter hidden in the center console.  All 10 of the factory speakers have been upgraded to MB Quart (German) speakers, along with a MB Quart Subwoofer.  It comes with a Soundstream Van Gogh (VGA800.5) Amp that powers the system.  This is an 800 Watt 5 Channel Amplifier, that has a very low Total Harmonic Distortion Level of .02%.  This is the cleanest and the most crisp sound I have ever heard from a car stereo.  The stereo has a complete system of MB Quart Crossovers set up to get the right frequencies to the right speakers.  The MB Quart Subwoofer, MB Quart Crossovers, and the Soundstream Amp are all housed in the rear hatchback area in a professional cabinet that matches the black leather in the vehicle.  This professional cabinet includes a discrete switch for black light illumination if desired.  All of this was professional installed.  No corners were cut, because I wanted it perfect.  The car has also been equipped with a discrete (hidden) cable for connection of your radar detector to the visor.

Both factory front seats have been replaced with Black Leather Recaro adjustable seats with lateral and thigh support.  They were just installed last year, and still look brand new.  The car has been driven less than 500 miles since they were installed.  They are "much" more comfortable than the original factory seats, and much sportier looking as well.  They are fully adjustable.  Recaro makes the best leather seats, and that is why I selected them for this car.  The entire leather interior of the car is in "beautiful condition."

Mechanically, the car runs exceptionally well.  It is very smooth with powerful throttle response.  The "Timing Belt" (a critical element of these cars costing about $1000.00 parts + labor) was just replaced in June of last year.  It has less than 500 miles on this new timing belt.  The car battery was replaced in June of last year.  This car has been "very well" taken care of.  It has always been garaged, is rarely driven, and has been regularly maintained via service from Jones' Autowerks, Inc. (in San Antonio, TX).  I have receipts documenting maintenance.  I have owned this car since 2004.  This vehicle can be inspected prior to sale at the buyers discretion to verify the condition of the car.  The oil was changed less than 500 miles ago (Castrol GTX 20W50).  There are "no" oil leaks, which speaks to the excellent condition of this car mechanically, because most 928's do leak some oil.  The AC blows cold.

This is the nicest Porsche 928gts that I have ever seen, inside and out.  The Porsche 928 "gts" is a very rare car anyway, but the 1995 928gts is the rarest and most desirable of all.  It was the final year of production and represented the ultimate refinement of this model.  Again, there were only 77 of these cars built, and this one was #13.  I am selling this car because I am getting older and need to downsize my car collection.  This car is in superb driving condition, and it is ready to go and drive "now."  Maintenance is up to date.

Thanks for looking.  If you have personal questions, please let me know.  I am very proud of this car, and if you are looking for a Porsche 928gts, you won't find one better, as the pictures illustrate.  Pictures of the excellent black leather interior on this car will be posted shortly.

249 reasons you want to go to Goodwood Revival

Sat, Sep 16 2023

At its most basic, Goodwood Revival is a long weekend worth of car races featuring cars made before 1970. There are lots of those, though, including some pretty great ones all over the world. But nothing is like Goodwood Revival because it's so much more than "just" vintage car racing.  First, you have to look the part. Attendees are strongly encouraged to dress in period clothing from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, with a strict dress code enforced should you want to enter the paddock. The goal is to create a more authentic atmosphere to match the cars and the meticulously restored and recreated paddocks, grandstands and other facilities of the reborn Goodwood circuit. Now, the dress code was relaxed this year since the Saturday was literally the hottest Sept. 9 on record in that part of England, and the organizers didn't want people dropping dead because they needed to wear an ascot. Some people definitely took the "relaxed" bit too far, but there was still plenty of atmosphere maintained. It really does make a big difference, as those "relaxed" individuals were often akin to seeing a Starbucks cup in a scene from "Game of Thrones."  You can see what I came up with below along with former Autoblog editor Reese Counts and various other Goodwood attendees. Second, there's the parking lot. But I'll let this entire separate post detail that. Third, there's the enormous carnival-like area featuring vintage-looking rides and various boutiques. Both of those are on the outside portion of the track, and honestly, you could easily just spend your entire day in the parking lot and carnival/shopping area without even crossing over into the circuit area. There you'll find more shops, food and drink opportunities, plus obviously, race car paddocks and the track itself.  Fourth, there are airplanes! I heard there are fewer than in the past, but they're there and they're cool. The Goodwood circuit started out life as the perimeter road around the World War II airfield RAF Westhampnett.  Fifth, with all of the above, Goodwood Revival really is fun for the whole family. It isn't just a bunch of old guys sitting around in lawn chairs. There are plenty of women and adorably dressed children, including babies in vintage prams. It's also not an event that's exclusively for the uber rich, even if they are certainly in full force given who has the sort of money needed to go vintage racing.

Petrolicious profiles a Porsche 911 hot rod called The Growler

Wed, Aug 5 2015

Petrolicious always does a superb job of showcasing fantastic vehicles and their owners. While some of its videos might go a little too far into the personal stories rather than putting the cars on the road for some people's tastes, this latest one is an absolute feast for the senses. The vehicle featured is called "The Growler," and this Porsche 911 hot rod assaults its driver with a wall of sound. The coupe maintains only the tiniest amount of on-road civility to still be regularly usable. Boasting a roll cage and a set of racing buckets inside, The Growler certainly looks all business. An engine tune, suspension upgrade, and 400 pounds of removed weight are enough to turn this 964-chassis 911 into something really sublime behind the wheel, too. As the first air-cooled car for owner Alex Bermudez, he's definitely starting near the top. Filmed on some misty canyon roads, the white coupe roars around sounding more like a racecar than anything road legal, and Petrolicious perfectly captures the this Porsche as it's flung around the narrow path. You can see the rear end just begin to step out before Bermudez catches it. Inside, each shift looks like the movement of a rifle bolt to shoot the car forward. Listening to the engine build revs might be the best thing you hear today, so stop what you're doing and take a listen. Related Video:
