For Sale is my prized 1989 Porsche 928GT. As I am sure you are aware the 928GT is one of the rarest Porshces to grace our shores. In 1989 and 1990 it is estimated that only 50 were imported. I have had the pleasure of owning two.  This is a low mileage no excuses example with only 90k original miles and a very extensive and thorough service history and records. All of the 928 GT cars were manual transmission with special gearbox ratios to perfectly transfer power from the 330hp double overhead cam V8. It is truly a joy to drive and everything works as it should. The 928GT has many upgrades from the S4 including a new electronic limited slip, different tuning and camshafts, better gearbox and all of the upgrades from the club sport edition. This particular machine has had all of its service intervals complied with and it is ready for the road.

The exterior of the car is very very clean. It is professionally detailed every month and you will not be able to find a spec of dirt anywhere. I have taken pictures of the door gaps and such so that you can see the attention to detail. The paint shines perfectly in full sun with no issues. the body work is nearly perfect with some slight imperfections in one rear fender well from some rock chips. there are also a couple small waves in the urethane bumpers in the corners. I could not get these imperfections to show up in my pictures.

The interior is fantastic and beautiful black leather. The seats are firm and the electrics work well. The dash and gauge pod are nearly perfect. The seats carpet and floor mats are in great shape as well with no imperfections to report. The sunroof works well and the headliner and steering wheel are also in great shape. The pictures represent the car very well. I haven't seen a nicer 928 that is unrestored. The tool set is nearly complete and the the rear hatch includes the double mat carpet and the privacy shade as well as rear sunshades and rear AC.

The engine bay is clean as a whistle and it has had extensive work done, including maroon powder coat on the valve covers and intake manifold. All required maintenance has been done including a new clutch at 80k miles and a new timing chain and regular tension checks. The transmission shifts flawlessly and the engine purrs at all RPMs. The suspension is tight and firm with recent dampers and an aftermarket sway bar. The tires and wheels are in good shape with the tires being around 4/32nds of tread depth. Brake pads are recent as well and a high performance racing compound.

This car holds a clear Texas title although there was some repair history back in the late 90s. I do not have any repair information from that time but I can say that any repairs done to the car were done correctly and I have thoroughly inspected the machine in every nook and cranny.  This car is stunning and it is the nicest 928 I have ever owned despite the blemish on its history. I have considered this in the pricing and I will allow some lucky buyer to enjoy owning a GT for a fraction of the normal GT prices.

Bid with confidence and review my feedback. I am a car enthusiast and professional driver, racer, and instructor.

This is a rare opportunity to own a 928GT and you will be thrilled with the condition of the car and enjoy every drive. Call me with questions, the car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Trades could be considered as well, but all must be approved prior to auction end.

Daughter has great taste, gives stepdad Porsche 914 of his youth

Mon, 14 Jul 2014

Children require a ton of sacrifices; even people without kids know that. Whether it's the time to watch a baseball game or the money just to get there, parents have to give up something for the betterment of their offspring. Of course, once a child grows up, it's finally possible to repay mom and dad for all of their hard work. In the case of Kristin Russell and her stepdad, Dave, that involves a surprise 1973 Porsche 914.
Before he got married, Dave had a sweet, white 914. He even had the money saved up to restore it, but spent the cash on the wedding instead. The Porsche languished in the garage until Dave eventually parted it out and sold it off. Years later, Russell wanted to do something to thank her stepdad for all of the things he had done for her and her mom. The only fitting thank you was an identical 914 to the one that he gave up. Scroll down to watch Dave's reaction of getting his dream car as a surprise Father's Day gift.

1964 Porsche 356 Cabriolet Emory Outlaw First Drive

Wed, Dec 30 2015

The black lacquer badge affixed to this 1964 Porsche 356 Cabriolet has two words on it: "356 Outlaws." When it was first produced by a jeweler in the 1980s for the Emory family, the word "Outlaw" was a term of pride only meaningful to the father-and-son team that were building these custom Porsches. Outside of their Orange County garage, the Outlaws attracted less respect than outlaw humans. In the past few years, Magnus Walker has helped Outlaws blow up outside nontraditional Porsche circles. Collector car brokers now happily promote Outlaw builds, and online how-to guides will teach you to create your own. Despite their newfound recognition, Outlaws began with Gary and Rod Emory and continue with Emory Motorsports. We didn't drive the black 1958 Porsche 356 Emory Special and silver 1959 356 Outlaw in the gallery – completed cars move through the shop so quickly that we couldn't organize a shoot and a drive on the same day. We drove a 1964 356C Outlaw that gets by with leather hood straps, deleted bumper guards, Raydot fender mirrors, and a drilled fuel filler cap poking through the hood. The interior is dressed in red leather in sanguine contrast to the beige German square weave carpet along the bulkheads. The three gauges are taken from a 904, the racer Porsche developed to succeed the 718. Emory's tuning lineage is as old as the cars he restores. Emory's tuning lineage is as old as the cars he restores. His grandfather Neil ran Valley Custom Shop in Burbank from 1948 to 1962, channeling and sectioning the slab-sided bodywork of '40s and '50s domestic sedans in ways that OEM designers would later adopt. Neil's tenure also included building the body for the SoCal Streamliner in 1950, the first hot rod to hit 200 miles per hour at the Bonneville Salt Flats. When Chick Iverson opened a Porsche dealership in Newport Beach he asked Neil to run the body shop. Neil's son Gary would become the parts manager. When he saw inventory being thrown out for lack of space, Gary then opened his own Porsche parts operation. Gary's son Rod started playing in the warehouse from the age of six, mixing and matching pieces to make go-karts and help build the Porsches Gary would sketch. Rod began his first restoration, a 1953 Porsche 356, at 14 years old. He spent two years on it, then went vintage racing. This wasn't a concours build – growing up in a parts shop, Rod had no qualms about using whatever suited his purpose and vision.

Crash sends race car driver sliding into first place

Mon, Nov 21 2016

A Belgian race car driver won an unexpected victory at the 2016 FIA GT World Cup race last weekend when he slid to victory on the roof of his car. According to Motorsport.com, this year's FIA GT World Cup race at the Macau Guia race track in Macau was more accident prone than usual. The race had already been delayed by one crash earlier in the day when Belgian driver Laurens Vanthoor went into Mandarin Bend too hot chasing Porsche driver Earl Bamber, to whom Vanthoor had just lost his lead. Vanthoor's Audi clipped a wall at about 155 miles per hour causing his car to flipped on to its roof and continued down the straightaway at speed. Thankfully, despite the speed and violence of the crash, Vanthoor escaped mostly unscathed. Officials immediately red-flagged the race and, because of delays caused by the earlier crash, the race was called. Since the race was canceled, officials performed a countback on the previous lap's results and declared Vanthoor the winner despite the fact that he finished upside down. In the aftermath, a shaken Vanthoor questioned whether or not he deserved to win. "I don't really know if I deserved it in a way, as I crashed and made a mistake and I am still a winner – which is very awkward," Vanthoor told Motorsport. "But I don't really know what to say. It would have been a better show for everybody without the crash and a better victory, but I don't know what to think about it."
