If you've been looking for Porsche's flagship, the 928, it doesn't take
long to realize that there are tons of junk out there. Not this one.
This is a rare, low-mileage (1900 miles/year) specimen that has been
adult owned and driven all of its pampered life. The result: time
stands still, a 928S with:
--32 valve V8, 300 horsepower, top speed 155 mph --Smooth shifting 4 speed automatic transaxle --Original Indian Red paint, no dings, scratches, rust or imperfections --Tan/black leather interior with no rips, distressed seams, or dashboard cracks --All electrics work, including 8-way power heated seats, sunroof, windows, mirrors, locks, even the hatch release --Automatic climate control, blows ice cold air in summer, warm in winter --Cool Momo steering wheel (made in Italy) --Alpine 8 speaker stereo with USB connection, CD and detachable face --New Falken radials on unmarked Porsche alloy rims --New engine control unit --Bra for front bumper and side mirrors --New floor mats --Owners' manual, service manual included --Clean Carfax and title Why pay 2 or 3 times as much for a 911 that is smaller, slower, not as luxurious, omnipresent, dangerous in corners and probably rusted? The 928 was designed to compete with Ferrari and Lamborghini and was priced at nearly $100,000 by the end of its run. You'll see others on eBay for $60,000+. If you respect these cars as I do, you'll know that my price represents good value. My 928S is registered as an antique and insurance is less than $300/year. This car will be detailed prior to purchase and includes three sets of keys. |

Behold the glory of unobscured Porsche 911 Turbo bumpers
Tue, Aug 18 2015Porsche apparently sees absolutely no reason to hide the changes for the 911's upcoming refresh on any of the models. After releasing official photos of the standard version ahead of the debut, here are the Germans testing the revised 911 Turbo S at the Nurburgring with no camouflage at all. The exterior tweaks are tiny enough that maybe the company thinks no one would notice. The front bumper receives tiny adjustments, including the LED lights lengthened in the lower air intakes. The headlights are also slightly tweaked, and the taillights are the wider units from the rest of the updated range. The rear bumper receives some restyled vents at each corner, as well. The standard 911 is rumored to receive a new family of smaller displacement, turbocharged flat-six engines as soon as this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, and that leaves the Turbo in a weird place. Forced induction holds a special place in the model's lineup by denoting some of the most powerful versions. With that exclusivity possibly on the way out, Porsche might now have to find a way to keep the Turbo badge special. Related Video:
Porsche CEO hints at Macan GTS, expects brand sales growth to 200K+
Tue, 11 Feb 2014Porsche is expecting big things from its little Macan, with CEO Matthias Mueller announcing that not only is a sportier GTS model being considered, but that the CUV will almost certainly help push Porsche beyond its 200,000-unit-per-year sales goal three years earlier than expected.
"We're transferring the genes of the Porsche brand into a new market segment," Mueller said during a speech to kick off Macan production, according to Automotive News Europe. Macan demand should push the brand past 200,000 sales, Mueller said, confirming what we reported back in August. And if Porsche really has a hit on its hands, it is able to boost production of the sporty crossover beyond its initial capacity of 50,000 units, according to the brand's CEO.
Provided that the Macan is the success Porsche hopes it will be, Mueller hinted that the range could expand beyond the initial Macan S and Macan Turbo. "GTS versions have a tradition at Porsche," Mueller said. "We haven't made a final decision yet regarding the Macan, but I'm sure it makes a lot of sense."
10 most memorable cars and SUVs of 2019
Tue, Dec 24 2019It's no surprise that a car reviewer will drive a large number of cars over the course of a year. Indeed, when the clock strikes midnight on Dec 31, I will have driven 75 new cars, trucks and SUV this year (and one old Peugeot) over the course of weekly evaluation loans and first drive events. That sure seems like a lot. Some definitely got more attention than others, and some came and went without leaving much of an impression – I completely forgot I drove a Kia Forte. Yet in the spirit of this day, I thought I'd pick the 10 that I would love to see under the Christmas tree tomorrow morning. You know, just in case you were looking to get me something. I'll also throw in a couple disappointments that were memorable for the wrong reasons. They'd get sent back to the store on Boxing Day. Lexus LC 500 Pictured below and resplendent in its Flare Yellow metallic paint, the car that would reach highest on my list is the divine Lexus LC 500. As a devout lover of GT cars, the LC ticks all the boxes. Muscular and characterful engine? V8, check. Beautifully made and memorable interior? It's gorgeous, to hell with Remote Touch. Check. Comfortable and reasonably practical? Superb seats and, uh, yeah. Makes me want to stand there and stare at it? You bet. Though I long figured my heart would say LC but my head "Porsche 911," after this go-around, that's no longer the case. LC, pretty please. 2020-lexus-lc500-f34-2 View 19 Photos Polestar 1 I actually feel lucky that I got to drive the Polestar 1. Only 150 will be produced each year, and it's a far more special thing than it would initially appear. And that's despite initially appearing to be a beautiful, classic two-door GT car with a roof so rakish it's only possible because it's made of carbon fiber. That itÂ’s a massively powerful plug-in hybrid with more all-electric range than any other PHEV is a thick dollop of whipped cream on a slice of Toscakaka. You know, Swedish dessert, Swedish car. Fine, I'll stick to Ikea references. Polestar1_Launch_SanFrancisco-0014 View 44 Photos Volvo V60 Cross Country Speaking of Sweden, did I drive this car off the road there? Sure did! And despite this, the V60 Cross Country scratches that certain wagon itch and looks sensational to boot. I wish it were available with the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, but it's best not to get greedy at Christmas.
