I purchased this car seven years ago as a completed V8 conversion and drove it a few thousand miles while at the same time upgrading it in several ways.  The car had a minor fire when new, was therefore totalled and became a doner for this project.  That explaines the low mileage, it was one of the first such conversions ever done.  This car has seen very limited use for its entire life and never been out in inclement weather.  The rust on the floorboards is evidently from storage, as I mentioned, one area does need repair where the floor meets the firewall behind the seats.  My upgrades have been to the routing of the cooling lines, getting them thru the rocker panels and up thru the front to the radiator.  This was accomplished with several custom made pieces of hardware.  Where they pass thru tunnels in the fuel tank, header wrap totally prevents any heat transfer to the fuel itself.  I was taking this car on road trips and driving it around untill I hit a curb with the right rear wheel and bent the swingarm on that side and cracked the 901 gearbox with that impact.  The body remained absolutely unharmed and straight.  At that point, 3 years ago, my activity stalled with this car due to having to relocate my business and economic conditions in general.  The engine remains out of the car, and waiting to go back in with it is the CROWN JEWEL of what I have to offer here . . . a totally modified 930 transaxle with all new parts and limited slip differential.  Additionally, I designed and built a mechanical shifter that shortens the overall length by 4 inches, making it ideal to put into a 914.  The photo of the stock and new shift rods shows how this is possible, all of this was assembled by Perfect Power Inc., Buffalo Grove Illinois, whose absolute specialty is Porsche.  They did or contracted for all the special machining and modifications to use this in a mid-engine car.  I have complete build sheets and ratio/speed information, I spent over 12 thousand dollars on this box before creating the shifter.  The interior is in very good condition with no cracks in the dash, every thing works.  I have a replacement swingarm.  I myself have been in product developement, mechanical design and prototyping as a career working on consumer, medical, and industrial products making me competant in everything I accomplished here.   I require an $800 paypal deposit within 24 hours of the end of this auction.  You will be bidding to OWN this car, not an option to buy.  Please have necessary funds available to complete this transaction within 7 business days of the sale in cash or bank wire transfer unless you and I make other arrangements.  Car is sold "as is" with no warrantees.  I have a clear Illinois title for this car, please ask all questions BEFORE bidding.  Car may be picked up or shipping arrangements will have to be made.  My phone is 312 972 0047, my name is Paul, thank you for looking.  Please feel free to make offers.

Petrolicious profiles the rare Italian Porschephile

Wed, Sep 9 2015

If you're Italian, you love Ferrari. It's almost a national requirement. If not Ferrari, then Lamborghini, or if you're a bit contrarian, perhaps Alfa Romeo or Maserati. This common belief, though, flies in the face of Rosita Corato's devotion to a certain unique Porsche. Despite growing up around cars from Italy's most treasured automakers, Rosita's family of coachbuilders had a passion for Porsche. This love was fostered by her father, who made a living repairing Ferraris. Despite his work, he'd longed for a rear-engined German, finally picking up a 1959 356 Speedster that was in desperate need of restoration. Rosita describes it as "practically a heap of metal" before her masterful metalworking father got to work on it. While it was originally meant to be a racer, it could best be described today as a restomod, and Rosita still uses it regularly on rallies. The engine and brakes have been upgraded, while the ratios on the manual transmission have been tightened up for improved performance. To save weight – remember, Rosita's father wanted a racer – the doors and hood were replaced with aluminum units, while other aesthetic upgrades were made as well, such as moving the fuel access up onto the hood. Check out Rosita's gorgeous 356 Speedster in the very latest episode from the team at Petrolicious. Related Video:

Porsche reveals first Macan driving and manufacturing footage

Fri, 13 Dec 2013

One of the more anticipated offerings of the upcoming year, Porsche's sporty baby Cayenne, the 2015 Macan, has already earned nods of approval from a number of Autoblog staffers. We named it one of the top five debuts at last month's LA Auto Show, citing its 400-horsepower turbocharged engine and other sporty bits as good reasons to get excited about Stuttgart's latest.
And while our first test may be many months away, we're keeping our ears to the ground for any information on Porsche's compact crossover. We're especially keen on stuff like this - our first look at the new model in motion and undergoing assembly at its Leipzig plant. Both are shorter videos, and while there's little of the glorious engine noise we've already been teased with, the videos do offer a great look at the handsome Macan on the road, as well as glimpse at Porsche's state-of-the-art manufacturing operations.
Scope out the videos below and let us know what you think.

Sunday Drive: An automotive flavor for every taste

Sun, Feb 25 2018

Last week was flush with interesting new vehicle debuts, led by the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. This crossover is entering straight into the heart of one of the world's most competitive automotive segments, and it's doing so with a fresh sense of style and a brace of new technologies. Our readers are clearly intrigued – the Santa Fe was the biggest news story of the last week on these online pages. It's fitting that a crossover generated a lot more interest than a traditional wagon, though we don't really have to be happy about it. Still, the completely new, fully redesigned Volvo V60 is worth taking another look at. First of all, it's pretty, in a traditionally Scandinavian way. Second, it's quick, with a 0-60 time of as little as 4.8 seconds. And finally, it's practical, with all kinds of room for cargo without the dynamic penalties of an unnecessary lift kit. Moving on from new vehicle debuts, we took another long look at the Honda Ridgeline. It's definitely a non-conformist pickup truck, based not on a body-on-frame platform but on a more carlike unibody design. That means it can't tow as much as some other trucks, but it also means the Ridgeline drives better than any of its more truckish competitors. It's the Swiss army knife of pickup trucks. Rounding out our coverage from last week are three sets of spy photos, each showing the interior of a hotly anticipated new model. One is a truck, one is a crossover, and the last is a sportscar. All of them are worth another look. As always, stay tuned to Autoblog this week for all the most important news in the automotive world. 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe unveiled 2019 Volvo V60 | Sleek, swift new twist on the Swedish wagon 2018 Honda Ridgeline | Pocketknife pickup is up for anything 2019 GMC Sierra interior looks just like the Silverado's 2019 Cadillac XT4 interior has actual buttons, no more touch-sensitive panel 2020 Porsche 911 992 spy shots show interior and manual transmission Cadillac GMC Honda Hyundai Porsche Volvo Truck Crossover Wagon Luxury Performance Sedan hyundai santa fe
