This Classic 914 was recently found after sitting for almost 10 years.

I used to have one of these back in the day and picked this up thinking I would restore it but recently, I have come to the conclusion that I have way too many projects already and I know I will never get to it so I am hoping someone will give this the love it deserves.

Glass

All of the glass is in good shape. The windows roll up and down properly. The door latches work properly and both doors open from the inside and outside handles.

Interior

The interior is complete and very nice. The door panels are in very good shape and not torn or ripped. The dash is in nice condition. There are a few small cracks but it is still soft and pliable. All the gauges are in good shape too. The seats are in very nice shape too.  The center console and the vinyl behind the seats and between them is nice too. The carpet is in good condition too.   The steering wheel, shift boot, etc. are all in good shape. Luckily, this interior was protected from the sun.

Body

The body is very straight and there are no signs of any major collisions. The floors are solid. The front trunk is solid. The rear trunk area has some rust where the tail light panel meets the trunk floor but not bad and the trunk floor is solid although it looks rusty, most of what you see is surface rust and looks worse in the pictures then it really is. The doors are very solid. There is a small rust bubble on the front bottom of the passenger door. The quarter panels and fenders are solid. The hood hinges must have had some problem and it looks like someone tried to force it up and bent a small section of the cowl on the drivers side.
The hinges and springs were removed and are included.
The front edge of the sheet metal where the front of the hood would close is a bit torn. It looks like someone tried to maybe tow if from there? Should not be a difficult fix.  The rear trunk hinges work and are in place but will need to be adjusted as it doesn't close quite right. The truck lock sticks a bit too.  The doors open and close properly and and the door handles open from the inside and outside properly and the doors line up nicely. All the door gaps are nice and the doors close solid. There is a spot of rust on the top of the drivers side quarter panel next to the door. There is a section on the rear trunk lid, front hood and right rear quarter panel where it had some bondo and it is coming off. It was touched up with paint to keep it from rusting.

Top

The targa top is in very nice shape and fits well

Drivetrain

The Engine and Transmission look to be original to the car. I have not touched it other then seeing if it would turn over. The engine is free and turns over with a jump start. The engine still has oil in it and the oil looks good. The car was converted to a weber carburetor in the past. The clutch pedal feels good and the transmission seems to go into all 5 gears and reverse. The Anza exhaust looks good and the heat exchanger's look good too.

Wheels/Tires

The car has the rare factory option Fuchs Wheels. They are in really nice shape with no curb rash and will polish up to be beautiful. The tires are in good shape with lots of tread left and are all holding air and roll fine. The spare is also a Fuchs wheel and is in good shape too.

Overall, this is a complete 914 that looks like it was well maintained prior to being parked and with a bit of work, will be a great car and just needs someone that is looking to give it the love it deserves. It should be restored and returned to its former glory. Finding one that is complete and unmolested is getting harder. This car could be very nice with some work and a nice paint job.

The odometer is reading 68,000 and the car looks too nice for the odometer to have turned over but I can not be sure. The seats, dash, carpets and door panels do not show the wear associated with higher mileage. The mileage is likely correct and the title reflects this car being of actual mileage but it is best to say that the True mileage is unknown.

There are a bunch of extra parts in a box in the trunk and a workshop manual, etc.

It comes with a clear title.

Editors' Picks March 2021 | Ford Mustang Mach-E, Polestar 2, Land Rover Defender and more

Thu, Apr 8 2021

The month of March was unofficial minivan month here at Autoblog. We drove all of them but the Kia Carnival, but don’t worry, you wonÂ’t have to wait much longer to read that review. Among all the family-toting machines, we drove some more exciting vehicles including the Land Rover Defender and a pair of up-and-coming EVs. It was a month of excellent cars, meaning that this monthÂ’s litter of EditorsÂ’ Picks is stacked. In case you missed FebruaryÂ’s picks, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary or stand out in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in March that earned the honor of being an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2021 Ford Bronco Sport 2021 Ford Bronco Sport First Edition View 32 Photos Quick take: Ford's baby Bronco is an authentic foil to the big Bronco 2-Door and 4-Door. It brings rugged styling, better-than-average off-road capability and thoughtful utility features to a generic segment of cars. Score: 8 What it competes with: Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Mazda CX-30, Subaru Crosstrek, Kia Seltos, Chevrolet Trailblazer Pros: Stellar design, excellent off-road, clever interior details throughout Cons: Pricier than most, average transmission, underwhelming interior quality and ambiance in lowest trims From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — “I genuinely enjoy driving this cute crossover. It feels like a mini truck on the road, and Ford admirably translated the design from its big Bronco over to this Escape-based crossover. News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "The Bronco Sport isn't perfect, the transmission could use some work, and it's a little bumpy, but it's a characterful little thing with loads of style, great visibility and space, and impressive capabilities on and off road in the powerful Badlands form." In-depth analysis: 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Review | Bronco for the masses   2021 Land Rover Defender 2021 Land Rover Defender 110 View 64 Photos Quick take: The Land Rover Defender provides everything you'd hope for in a modern Land Rover: superlative off-road capability, surprisingly plush on-road demeanor, abundant interior space and abundant character. The base four-cylinder is likely all you'll need and lower trim levels provide more than enough equipment.

'We're not a hedge fund': Porsche plans to curtail speculators and flippers

Tue, May 30 2017

A sizable number of speculators view cars as an investment. Rare or unusual models are quickly snapped up and either parked for years or flipped for a profit. Cars from automakers like Porsche and Ferrari are more prone than others, and at least some people behind these models are getting a bit tired of it. While it's difficult to police what goes on after you sell a car, Porsche has some plans that might curtail the problem before it starts. Andreas Preuninger, the head of GT road-car development and the man behind the new 911 GT3, spoke to Car and Driver at a recent event. "I personally like to see my cars being used," he said. "That's what we build them for. They are just too good to be left to stand and collect dust." One recent example of this rampant speculation is the 911 R. While the special manual-only model sold for $185,950 when new, used versions were selling for nearly $1.3 million just months after it went on sale. While the car is a masterpiece and an instant classic, a good number will be parked and simply used as art and not the rolling testaments to the man/machine interface they were intended to be. The concern over valuations has become so fierce that some owners are upset that Porsche is offering the new 911 GT3 with a manual transmission, fearing that it may hurt the value of the 911 R. "When I said we're not a hedge fund, I'm talking to those people who are yelling at us for offering the manual transmission similar to the R," Preuninger said. "But if there are people wanting to buy cars like that, then as a company we should try to fulfill that, to meet that demand." It seems Porsche is keeping a close eye on who is flipping cars. Since there is often far more demand than supply with certain models, the German automaker has a name for every car before it's built. Buyers with bad reputations might not even make the wait list. Conquest and controversy conclude the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona [spoilers]

Sun, 26 Jan 2014

If you don't wish to know who won the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona, you should avert your eyes right now. We'll even give you a double-space to skedaddle...
For those of you still with us, the first race in the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) is done, but the discussions about it certainly won't end for a while. Daytona Prototypes claimed the first four overall places, the top spot taken by the No. 5 Action Express Coyote-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi, Sebastien Bourdain and Burt Friselle. The 16th and final caution of the race bunched the field up for an eight-minute sprint to the flag, so the first place getter finished just 1.4 seconds ahead of the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Max Angelelli. Third place went to Brian Friselle in the No. 9 Action Express Chevrolet Corvette DP, 20 seconds down. Chevrolet power hasn't taken the overall win since 2003, eleven years later it scores a one-two-three-four. The No. 6 Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing ORECA-Nissan 03 scored fifth place, the top LMP2 finisher.
The Prototype Challenge class win went to the No. 54 CORE Autosport team of Colin Braun, Jon Bennett, Mark Wilkins and James Gue.
