Up for sale is a 1972 914 1.7L Porsche that shows to have 77,601 miles on the odometer (which does not work - speedometer does work) actual mileage unknown. This car is being sold AS-IS with NO-Reserve. I have owned this car for about 1 year with intentions of repairing and restoring. I'm having to move and have no place to work on it so - the opportunity is yours.
As you can see in the pictures I have tried to make it look as good as I can yet at the same time trying to show all defects I am aware of.
The car runs and drives good. Transmission shifts surprisingly well after installing a bushing kit. There is an oil leak. I haven't put it on a rack to find but I think it may be from the drain plug (I have changed the oil). I put new tires on this car and have only put about 1,000 miles on it.
The front and rear trunk lids (as you can see in pictures) have been sat on and the paint has cracked. There are a few places that the paint didn't adhere to the body and has chipped, such as next to the finder and front lid and under the windshield. The windshield has wiper scratches and the mirrors are replacements.
All the lights and gauges are functional except for the odometer (speedometer works). Defroster and hardware are missing. I'm not sure what needs to be replaced. It has a tape player but I have not tried to get it working.
As you can see from the pictures, the interior needs a lot of attention. The person I got it from had let it set out for 10+ years with a leak in the Sun-roof seal. I think I have that fixed but the damage to the upholstery is major. The dash is cracked and carpet is not great. The targa top comes off and on with out a hitch and is in great shape (the glass in it opens to a tilt to let in more air).
The front trunk has a hole in it that I have been told was for an after-market A/C. The person I got the car from had never removed the wooden floor that covers that hole. The Green floor you see in the pictures was purchased to have that floor repaired - which is included with the sale of the car. I have replace the rear trunk lid springs with damper lifts as well as hinges for the rear lid that were bent.
The battery box, that I hear so much about, looks good (I replaced the batter when I got the car).
I have keys for the car- one set for the doors - one for the rear deck - and one for ignition. When the car is first started, it does not like to idle but once it worms up is runs great. I've never driven one of these cars before I bought this on so I have nothing to compare it to (always wanted on when they were new).
This is really a nice car for it to be 41 years old. It's better than I have made it sound. Just want the buyer to know before purchase what I know.
Once again - the car is sold AS-IS with no warranty expressed or implied.
Should you have any questions, I'll try my best to answers them. Thanks for looking and bidding.

Porsche's latest Driver's Selection keeps enthusiasts happy at home
Wed, 25 Sep 2013Porsche fans - and there are certainly plenty of them out there, even in here on the Autoblog editorial staff - can be pretty emphatic about their enthusiasm, insisting that the 911 is the very definition of the sportscar. And for some, merely admiring one from afar or even leaving theirs parked outside isn't enough. For just such enthusiats, Porsche Design has expanded its Driver's Selection with some tantalizing additions for the home and office.
First up is a desk chair made from the bucket seat in a 911 Carrera, which we have to admit we'd rather be sitting in right now over this blasted, rather unexciting ergonomic office chair. It's covered in black leather (the same you'd find inside an actual 911) embossed with the Porsche emblem and features electronic backrest adjustment.
There's also a wall shelf made from the carbon-fiber rear spoiler a 911 GT3 Cup racecar that can support up to 264 pounds of downforce in the form of books, trinkets and whathaveyou. And there's a limited-edition resin model of the 918 Spyder in 1:8 scale. The items haven't hit the Porsche shop just yet, so we don't have pricing information, but if they tickle your fancy, the online store has plenty more to offer.
Editors' Choice: Top Five 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show Debuts
Thu, Sep 17 2015Consider the 2015-16 auto show season officially kicked off. The Frankfurt Motor Show offered a great look at the newest crop of production cars and conceptual machines, and brought some old favorites back into the spotlight for a closer look. (The Alfa Romeo Giulia, for example, debuted in June, but this was the first time most of us saw it.) Now that the dust has settled and we're all on flights back to the US, our editors cast their votes for their personal favorites from the Frankfurt show. These are the cars we truly loved seeing the most. But unlike other shows, there was no one runaway winner – all of the Top Five received positive praise from our team. We won't spoil the results, though. Scroll down to see what we liked most from this year's Frankfurt expo. 5th Place – MERCEDES-BENZ IAA CONCEPT View 12 Photos MIKE AUSTIN: The clean lines on this concept have me excited for a more elegant beauty to future Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Next to the Concept IAA, the lovely S-Class Coupe looks like an overstyled barge. DAVID GLUCKMAN: Yeah, the extendable rear is neat and all, but I'm more interested in the front-end styling of this one. It looks like the Tron version of a 300SL, in a good way. I'm hopeful it portends the future of Mercedes design. STEVEN EWING: I was super impressed when Mercedes said that, with the rear end extended, this concept has a drag coefficient of just 0.19. That's crazy aerodynamic. I'm not head-over-heels about the styling, but I think the lessons learned from this concept are really important, and will play a huge role in the future of Mercedes' products. 4th Place – ALFA ROMEO GIULIA View 15 Photos SEYTH MIERSMA: I can hardly express how in love with this car I am. The styling feels creative, modern, and evocative, without going over the top. The proposed performance is spectacular. And the Alfa badge speaks to a legacy of romantic motoring. DAVID GLUCKMAN: Pretty Italian car makes big promises and will probably deliver on about three quarters of them. I think that will still be enough for me. JEREMY KORZENIEWSKI: I'm really intrigued by the Giulia. It looks great, sounds awesome, and I'm expecting it to have a load more character than its German rivals. I hope I'm not disappointed. 3rd Place – JAGUAR F-PACE View 15 Photos GREG MIGLIORE: It's the first SUV for Jaguar, and I think they nailed the design, capability, and electronics. It's the right car at the right time.
